Breach of FCA guidelines?
I am deeply disappointed with Credit Style. We settled our British Gas account in full when we moved, yet Credit Style continues to harass us for a non-existent debt. I have already explained this to an agent, yet they have ignored the information and sent further demands. This is a clear breach of the FCA’s ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ rules and the Data Protection Act. I have submitted a formal dispute and will be escalating to the Financial Ombudsman and the ICO if this is not closed immediately.

Now credit style are asking for it back. I've not checked account number yet. Letter is addressed to me yet i was not the account holder the wife was. Is this a SCAM!. Seems to be what I am reading other reviews

Total scammers
Total scammers, harassing me for non existent debt to British Gas. Haven't been their customer for years and all my accounts were settled. But do you think these scammers would stop harassing? Nope keep sending me threats.
Quite obviously a scam
They send letters to people claiming they have outstanding debt and that immediate action is required.
Crooks, they will hound anyone even when proven wrong
These crooks began chasing me for the debt of the long dead previous property owner. Despite being provided with written confirmation from British Gas that we did not owe anything they continued to hound us. Weve gone to the Financial Ombudsman to complain and will be suing for harassment
My daughter who was not even an adult…
My daughter who was not even an adult at the time, kept receiving notices for unpaid british gas debt when she has never owned a house or rented, she was never part of the rental contract or anything that could have caused this 'issue' . They say its related to previous family house we rented when there is no way she is tied to it, everything was also paid in time and no debt by me either. its an absolute scam.
Complete scammers
Complete scammers. Received a call saying I owe money to British Gas for my previous property. Called British Gas and was told the balance was at zero and I owe nothing. Do not pay them a penny.
Bordering on harassment!
I've been receiving letters from Credit Style & CST Law stating I owe money for two British Gas unpaid bills...strange as I've never had an account with British Gas! Where they've received my name and address from is anyone's guess!
I called them, they said there was no-one in their 'British Gas department' to help and would call me back...that never happened. I returned some of their paperwork stating I've never had an account with British Gas and have been told from British Gas themselves to 'just ignore the letters' and yet they continue to arrive, now threatening CCJ's and legal fees.
This is bordering on harassment now.
This company, although seemingly legitimate, must make money out of some morally questionable practices.
Check the debt is yours before you pay…
Check the debt is yours before you pay anything! Credit style contacting me and sending letters IN MY NAME for a British Gas debt (I’ve never been with British Gas) nor have I ever lived at the address the debt is from. I can only assume this was completely random trying to scare someone into paying or the debtor lived at my address at some point. I originally spoke to Chris in December at which point he seemed nice and said it was sorted. It was not sorted. They have continued to send letters and call me since then. I have spoken to them 4 times each time the attitude of the person getting worse, including Chris who I had previously spoken to I was told it was sorted all times. Again it was not sorted. I spoke to British Gas multiple times who also told me it was not my debt and they can see I have no account. I have had to send tenancy agreements proving where I was living at the time DESPITE THE DEBTORS NAME BEING KNOWN. How is this legal? It’d be one thing if letters were coming to my address for the debtor but to attach a debt to my name simply because I moved into a property is disgraceful. If someone were to walk out of a coffee shop without paying do I then go after you for the debt simply because you walked in after them? No.
Scammers
Scammers. Asking for a gas bill from a property where there's no gas. Reporting to police, action fraud and CIFAS. Scumbags
SCAM that almost put us in hospital
SCAM! Horrible people, gave me a true anxiety attack for lies. We got a bill in my husbands name to owe money to British Gas, last bills were in my name and last time he had an account was many years ago. The numbers didn't match our numbers and there had been a tenant living at that address for many years now too. Right before applying to remortgage, and during husband's health issues, gave us a heartattack. HORRIBLE PEOPLE
Scam company
Scam company, claiming we owe British Gas money. British Gas in fact owed us money on an old account.
Do not trust.
Doggy scammer emails
So not sure on what the heck happened, but the sent me an email saying I owe British Gas some money, the usual bla bla stuff, but here is the thing I actually check my accounts and kept them up to date, so I KNOW I owe British gas nothing, in fact they owe me, as some of my accounts are in credit.
Do your own checks on whatever account they claim to have on you before handing over anything.
SCAMMERS!
SCAMMERS!
Don't pay these scum anything. What I found even more distasteful is that they targeted my elderly mother.
Scam
Scam - They contacted my daughter when she turned 18 about a British gas debt when she never rented or owned a house
Was worried about the negative reviews, but the guy who answered the phone was super helpful
Was worried about the negative reviews, but the guy who answered the phone was super helpful!
Received 2 Credit Style letters in the post saying I owe British Gas money, for a period before we completed on the purchase of this property. I had already contacted British Gas multiple times over the past few months, but a few weeks ago, I was reassured that we do not need to pay anything, and that we will receive no more 'chase' letters.
Despite this, we received 2 Credit Style letters in the post today. I explained the situation to the representative on the phone. They were super helpful, took down some details, and said they would get the case closed right away, and also reassured me that but wouldn't affect my credit score etc!
Utter fraudsters
Utter fraudsters. Have phoned and sent me letters saying I owe British Gas more than £200. I don't owe anything. Don't pay them a penny.
