SCAM! Horrible people, gave me a true anxiety attack for lies. We got a bill in my husbands name to owe money to British Gas, last bills were in my name and last time he had an account was many years... See more

They sent my mom a bill for british gas on a address we recently moved to stating that its a old debt and we never had british gas since we moved neither did the old owners. Absolute scam. Will reporting to necessary department and the police.
Scammers ??…
Iam in receipt of 4 letters from this company,3 arrived in one envelope chasing me for unpaid bills to British Gas for 4 separate properties in the UK, considering I have been living atvthe same address for the last 4 years & can prove where I was living for 14 years previous to this, I am under the impression after reading reviews on their site that this is part of a scam.I will try to contact on Monday, but will also consider legal advice.

Chasing me for a debt that isn't mine
Trying to chase a debt on a property that is nothing to do with me, in a town I've never visited.
Sent an email and followed up with a phone call, and surprisingly got through to someone who said it had happened a lot lately, and he would clear me from the record.
If that happens I will return and raise the rating to 2 stars, but they should never be threatening random people they assume is the same as their target because our names are the same.

Parasites and Liars
My wife is not the account holder of our British Gas Account, I am. We moved address a few months ago, and I transferred our British Gas account to the new address. And yet she has received a letter from this bizarre company claiming she owes British Gas £90 from the previous address. I know this is false. They've also threatened that this could impact her credit score.
What dystopia do we live in that entities like this exist purely as parasites, to threaten and take money from decent honest people? How do they have the power to impact people's credit scores, based entirely off lies?
My experience of this company is they are soulless and not decent. My constructive criticism would be for employees to retrain and make a positive impact on society.

SCAMMERS
SCAMMERS!
I have received a letter, email & phone calls chasing over £1000 on behalf of "their client " British Gas for electricity.
Firstly, my name isn't on any British Gas bills as I don't deal with them.
Secondly, we have a 'Pay As You Go' meter!
I will be putting all of their info and correspondence together and passing onto the Greater Manchester Police.

Received a letter saying I owe a debt to British gas, despite never having a contract with British gas and I haven't lived in the property it's from for nearly a year.
The person who paid the British gas bill in that household died last December and the British gas account was closed shortly after. The account number they have put on the letter is also a different account number to the British gas account that bill payer had. Scam, I'll be contacting British gas tomorrow to make them aware and won't be sending them a penny.

Dodgy scammers trying to take your…
Avoid these scammers. Sending out emails claiming to sent from British Gas about payments in arrears.
No title or proper sign off. You can tell it’s a dodgy email. Aiden claiming it may “go legal”. You know christmas is around the corner when pockets are tight for them
Total scaremongering scam
Just called them. Got letter saying owe a debt which is not owed. We paid for the service on the day. Phone operator refused to discuss until I gave them name address and DOB. Not willing to do that when this clearly is a scam. This is not a debt that is owed and need to be cancelled.

Is this firm Scammers?? or just unprofessional
We had a letter sent stating we had an outstanding debt which we had no knowledge or information about the amount. We contacted the firm by phone and in writing twice requesting invoices and evidence nothing was provided. They only have a PO Box address??
We followed guidelines given to us by consumer experts but nothing happened. We don't know if this is a scam??? Without evidence and copies of invoices we will not be paying this company as we do not know what it related to.
The staff seem very unprofessional and the letters are a form of harassment.
Seek advice if you are unsure as a consumer there are protections in place.

endless letters for a debt already paid
I received letters and calls from them chasing payment of a car hire fee - I have already paid it, I have sent the money to them and yet I am still receiving letters. The website and phone number demand payment there’s no way to speak to a person to explain that I’ve already paid. The letters will be put in the bin - as far as I’m concerned the account is closed!

Rude on the phone and via email.
So this afternoon I got a phone call from a guy, asking to speak to a lady. Well I am a 40 year old male fat, and I know we live in a world where you can be identify as a penguin I am a Male.
I explained you have just woken me up from a night shift and the guys attitude stunk saying "we don't wake you up at night SIR!" and put the phone down.
I then look in my emails and the same company has emailed me asking for a lady, with all her personal details, so I replied you have clearly got the wrong details and this must be a scammer as to get one of my old email addresses and my 2nd e-sim number It felt like a scam/identiy theft, to get a reaction.
So I replied with a screenshot showing my name and showing I have a zero balance on my account.
Then the guy replied asking for MY ID Via email, My address and my ACCOUNT NUMBER!
I then rung the fraud team at my energy supplier and was advised to not give them any information, as they will get in touch and refer this debt back to them.
The Fraud team asked to see the emails as they said they agreed this is not a way they ask/sell debts to be recovered in this way.
They confirmed that my account was zero and what they said is companies have been doing scams like the above to change bank details and to request refunds into scammers accounts, so to do this they ask for all the above.
However when on the phone the guy said he got my email and confirmed the this company IS a company they use but the practice they used was very wrong and unprofessional and thanked me for brining it to there attention.
And my energy company have given me a goodwill gesture for the stress I have had these last couple of hrs.
Advice - DONT GIVE INFOMATION OVER THE PHONE or EMAIL. Contact the original company and they Will advise.
if you dont answer their questions, they hang up on you.
I contacted Credit Style today to discuss why a letter had arrived 7 days after it was dated. I provided my name address and CS ref. he asked for my mobile which i refused to give as this is not part or 'data protection' as i have never spoken to them today. as soon as i said no, he said he cant take call any further and hung up on me, typical American attitude. Please tell me Credit Style, how does this approach resolve anything?
Who are this shabby outfit that are trained to deal with customers with such contempt.
A automated call came to my phone…
A automated call came to my phone saying press one to speak to an agent about outstanding debt. I pressed 1 to speak to an agent then a lady asked me for a reference number which I said I don’t have because I don’t know what this call is about. She then asked for my postcode and name. After hesitating to give my name and postcode, I gave it just so I can find out if it’s legit or not. The lady said we don’t have nothing under that name or postcode… I then hung up. Not a nice experience at all as I was spending the evening with my baby daughter.
Have been contacted by CST LAW about an…
Have been contacted by CST LAW about an outstanding bill for £866 for a car rental in Exeter with the Scot group, I live in south wales and have never rented a car let alone from Exeter, I eventually got hold of CST LAW about this and explained all the above.
When we discussed the issue after passing the security questions on the account I discovered that not only were the email addresses used that the contact mobile number was one that I’ve never had, they did however have our home number and address but my name was spelled incorrectly, they now have said that they will look into this but after reviewing the comments on this site I’m not to hopeful of a solution!
In the meantime I have also contacted Scot group and they are looking into it from their side as they couldn’t find anything that would confirm my part in this, is this a scam??

My name on someone else's account
Received a letter with my name on for a debt owed to Utilita Energy. I have never heard of this company to start. The dates of the debt is April 22 - March 2024. I never arrived in the country till March 2023.
I have telephoned them twice now and been given different directions on how to solve this. They need to get solutions in sink.
