Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 47 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently struggled with unhelpful customer support teams, experiencing exceptionally long hold times, unreturned phone calls, and dismissive attitudes when trying to resolve their critical problems. Consumers additionally faced heavy unexpected maintenance costs, expensive servicing plans, and recurring mechanical faults with their new vehicles shortly after purchase. However, some customers also noted that the vehicles offered a comfortable and pleasant driving experience alongside plenty of useful interior space. A few reviewers additionally mentioned experiencing a completely seamless, professional purchasing process and helpful communication when initially dealing with the dealership.

Bought brand new jogger

Bought brand new jogger , clutch has worn out after 6 months and 10,000 miles . They won’t replace under warranty as they claim it’s wear and tear even though it’s a new car.
Been in work shop now for 5 weeks still not fixed.

Bought a 2019 used Sandero from the local dealer and after 2 weeks the clutch started to judder badly and the ignition switch was sticking in start position....both known faults with the Sandero. Dealer has had the car now nearly 4 weeks waiting for parts. Terrible service. I used to work in car parts and there used to be something called VOR (vehicle off the road) where parts could be obtained quickly. What happened to that? Steer clear of Dacia as quality and spare parts appear to be serious issues judging by other reviews on here and other places.

Now 7 weeks have passed since Sandero went into Service Dept. for repair. Still waiting for clutch and ignition switch. Have been told by Service Reception of the main dealer there is a major spare parts shortage with Renault / Dacia and delivery is anyone's guess. Industry wide problem it appears. If I had known I would have bought another old banger and kept that going with motor factor / used parts. Buy a new or fairly new car at your peril.

Parts finally arrived and got car back after nearly ten weeks. Guess that's fairly quick by modern motor trade performance ?

5 year Duster full of issues

I brought a brand new Dacia Duster in 2018. Within 6 months it broke down on the motorway as the starter motor had gone. They gave me a hire car, it took 3 months for a part and then fixed. However on returning home it wasn't driving right, called RAC who confirmed they hadn't connected the engine correctly and if we had carried on driving it would have flooded the engine.
6 months later, it breaks down again and it's the starter motor. They get a hire car, takes months for the part to come and they finally fix it.
And then 6 months later, its breaks again and this time they finally figure out its not just the starter motor but another part is broken and that's breaking the starter motor. Get a hire car, wait months for the car parts and they fix it. On the drive home realise the acceleration isn't working properly. Take it back, they tell me the orange warning light is just the service due (which was done less than a year ago so how?) And try to fob me off. Turns out, they hadn't reconnected the turbo correctly.
Last week the acceleration went again, accept this time its the turbo has gone and they've found other issues so will cost 5 grand in repairs (this car is only just 5 years old).
It's still in its extended 6 year, 80,000 miles warranty.
However no hire car/courtesy car and want proof of invoices of our past services (because we didn't go back to that dealership because we didn't have good faith in them for obvious reasons). We sent them the proof and at 17:50 on a Friday they reply they can't read the pictures (I've checked the pictures of the invoices and they are clear) and they close at 6pm.
So I've gone one week without a car (I drive for work as a nurse so its essential), still don't have a hire care and no work started/parts even ordered. Also the fact a car of 5 years old has had so many issues is ridiculous. Do not get a Dacia, it's not worth all the hassle.

Safety!!!!!!!!!!!!

From being a value for money vehicle, nothing special but OK they have gone from fit for purpose to just plain rubbish so beware. Being cheap and cheerful I have had several of these vehicle which seemed to serve us well buying the top of the range in all cases. The latest one has what I would consider dangerous features. Pulling out of side roads into flowing traffic there is a good chance that our vehicle will stall and does not necessarily restart with the auto restart so while you are waiting for the car to decide unless you have been careful and allowed for this you stand a good chance of being hit in the side or rear. The other problem being the automatic hand brake it can go from not working to being locked solidly on. I get indication that from the dash saying brake is engaged only to find the car rolling backward toward the village pond, a bit alarming, it does not tend to work either when stood at traffic lights. Dramatically the other day (5th May 2023) I tried to take the car out of the garage only to find that the brakes were well & truly locked on and it was very very difficult to drive the car out. My security camera shows the effort that I had to make trying to rock the brakes off, with the rear wheels locked tight and the front wheels turning pushing against the stationary wheel resistance eventually with smoke bellowing from inside the engine which I later understand may have been the clutch burning out. As I was going on holiday the next day i called the emergency service provided by Dacia/Renault which turned out to be the RAC. Be with you in 2 hours was the response, then a call "is the car drivable", "no it wants taking to a dealer for them to look at whilst I am away". Somebody will ring you straight back and tell you how long we will be but did they NO!!!. So then Dacia took over saying the car would be collected on 30th May But did the RAC arrive NO!!!
I managed to get the car to a dealership (not where I bought it) and they declaed probably rightly that they could not find a fault as it needs to happen when they have the car. So the vehicle via the computer shows itself to have no faults. They did give sensible answers as against the Right Car dealership where I bought the car showed little or no interest and the technician was one of those who has never got his hands dirty with solving mechanical problems. Dacia were a total waste of time in helping, just stretching everything out, instead of grasping the problem and resolving the issues quickly. The problems are still there but the car is not, time to dump it and go elsewhere with something more safe and satisfactory, giving confidence that there is no danger in driving. RAC no better.
Well I have escaped the troubles of my Dacia an found real pleasure again in driving. I may have found the original Dacia good and at least fit for purpose but I am now using a different make and what a pleasure it is.

Very frustrated

Very frustrated, yesterday I collected my brand new Sandero expression, to be let down by the apple car play cutting out every 2 to 3 minutes using my iPhone. a quick google and social media search shows it’s a very common issue waiting for a system update by Dacia. Furious that the dealer never told me about the compatibility of the newer iPhones as I would have ordered essential over expression. I have literally had the car 24 hours I’m absolutely furious your dealers should be equipped to tell us this information at point of sale and if they are then they haven’t in this situation.

A cautionary tale of zero customer service.

I have been trying to contact Dacia Head Office to chase up a complaint since early March. My initial complaint form did garner a response, with a follow up phone call from "Josh" promising to send an email update the following Monday. Two months later, after numerous wasted calls waiting on their customer service line only to be cut off without ever speaking to anyone, I have had no response head office . My almost three year old Duster was fine until I took it to Dacia's Orpington Branch for a service. Subsequently my battery died three days following a supposed full service, leaving me stranded miles from home . As a pensioner this was a terrifying experience. In the months since, there has been no further communication from Dacia. Outrageously bad customer service.

Update 18/05/23 - after sending a new complaint to Dacia online I received the standard " we guarantee a response within 24 hours" automated reply. I also sent an email to the CEO of Renault/Dacia UK. No reply since from either . You couldnt make this up.

Never have heard from Dacia Orpington , apart from an email inviting me to buy a new car from them...... seriously?

Finally received communication from Wasim at Renault H.O. UK apologising for the delay , telling me he had been in touch with Renault Orpington, but they had given him no real reason for the p--s poor service I received, and he apparently told them that it wasnt good enough. I thanked him for getting in touch and waited for Dacia Orpington to contact me.

apart from an email from Dacia UK asking me if I wanted to sign up for extended warranty etc etc , I am still waiting for any sort of reply from the original Dacia garage - almost six months later.

There is a known fault with Dacia dusters…

There is a design fault with Dacia dusters where the drain for rain on the windscreen gets blocked and the water is diverted into the footwell of the car instead. After the storm last Monday there was an inch of water in my passenger footwell. It is a known issue with Dacia dusters. When Dacia finally phoned me back ( they say within 24 hours, it was 5 days later) the caller told me I would have to go to a dealer and get the problem identified and they would decide on a remedy. All at my own cost as I'm out of warranty and they have no record of MY car having this problem. She then kept repeating herself over and over again. I don't need her to book me into a garage, I need Dacia to fix their badly designed drain

Worthless Company who should stop…

Worthless Company who should stop trading in the UK. I deeply regret buying a Dacia. What kind of company tells you to take your vehicle to a dealer so they can identify the part. Its the only type of part on the vehicle. An LPG filter. Dacia should know by the registration number or VIN number what the part is. Instead I get told to contact the garage. book an appointment. let them locate and identify the part. wait for them to order the part. then book the car in again for the service and replacement part. Dacia don't keep service parts on the shelf! Customer Service took DAYS to get back to me. Customer Service is worthless. I thought DACIA were being let down by "Hendy Dacia" turns out Hendy Dacia is just the tip of the iceberg of how awful Dacia is as a company. HENDY and DACIA deserve eachother. Two peas in a pod. Customers don't deserve this. DONT BUY A DACIA!

He went the extra mile every timeI'm on my third dacia duster now

I'm on my third dacia duster now, I'm so pleased to have the automatic model. Delivery was somewhat delayed due to tech problems, but I had a salesman who kept me posted from start to finish. He looked after me,, silly things like making sure all the extras I had on my last duster where in place on the new model. All the insurances for the various protection needed. Rac membership, and I got a few personal extras . Believe me I put this man Under extreme pressure at times and he was allways kind and got things done. His name was Ameel Hussain . He went the extra mile can't fault his service. Well done Ameel see you soon.

Unfortunately I could not recommend a Dacia vehicle. My headlight got broken about four months ago, have tried to get a new one through main dealer and it is impossible. Its been on order for nearly four months and there is still no expected delivery date. My car may not pass its MOT if it isn't replaced and I'm then going to be left without a car. COME ON DACIA, PULL YOUR FINGER OUT!

Brand new dacia duster that stalls itself and dacia won't help

My partner has a brand new dacia duster 1.3 that stalls on its own yet dacia say that's a character of the car... and we have been informed that all models with this engine do the same but due to people not complaining about it they will no do anything about it.

The vehicle has been with the garage for longer than she has driven it.. it was purchased around june/July 2022 and is still at the garage now April 2023 the vehicle has around 4k miles.

2 dacia technicians have been out at the vehicle a number of times and they have found the fault. The vehicle is basically taking itself out of cold start mode even though it is not warm enough. This happens after a short journey if you turn the vehicle off and back on after a couple of minutes.

They are offering no support. They are refusing to escalate the issues or help us now.

That said the garage that we are dealing with are being brilliant and trying to support us as much as they can.

Despite being under warranty Dacia…

Despite being under warranty Dacia assist refused to come out to fix my car window. Whether or not they were right to refuse to come out to help fix the window to secure the vehicle to help me get it to the dealership is seemingly a grey area in the warranty. However the main complaint was the threatening way in which the Dacia telephone operator spoke to me. He got very angry on the phone. I asked him why are you being so threatening and he responded on two occasions with; ‘I’m not being threatening if you want me to be threatening I’ll be threatening’. I have reported this to Dacia. Hopefully Dacia record the calls so they can listen back to the recording and take matters further.

Warning lights and terrible customer service

Recently my 10 month old Jogger dashboard lit up with warning symbols and messages. I had to live with it like that for nearly 3 weeks as Platinum Trowbridge couldn't see it any earlier. And when they finally did take a look, they charged me an hour's labour of £132 (this was a goodwill gesture apparently) to clear the fault codes as they insisted the only thing that could have caused this was either jump starting the car or disconnecting the battery; so this is therefore not covered by warranty. Neither of those things happened so I now feel ripped off (not mention the insinuation that I'm lying) and concerned that the issue may re-occur as the root cause was not properly identified.

Response from Dacai Customer Services has been to side with the dealer.

NO REPLY TO OUR EMAIL BELOW

Dear Axxxx,

You will probably recall some of our conversations over the last few months regarding my faulty Stepway.

Further to our last conversation the car let me down once again and has now been replaced with a Sandero from Bristol Street Motors in Leicester who did their best to find a quick replacement. Not such a nice car but one I can rely on I hope.

I appreciate that you have reimbursed me for some Uber costs but I feel that this is extremely poor compensation given the significant ongoing problems the car has caused me.

Please see attached document.

As a consequence, I missed a Christmas party in Market Harborough, a family Christmas get together in Coventry, a hairdressing appointment, a days paid work, my daughters dentist appointment, and my daughter who had her driving test in January was unable to practice in my car.(She did not pass!)

The whole experience has cost me a huge amount of time spent on phone calls and emails to Dacia customer services, Bristol Street Motors, RAC etc on hold or chasing/waiting for call backs, repeated trips to the dealership, untold stress, frustration and inconvenience. It has caused embarrassment and made me feel and look unprofessional and unreliable at work, a loss of confidence and faith in me being able to get from A to B and extra costs incurred.

All this whilst paying every month for a year old car.

My husband and I are very loyal customers of Dacia, my husband is enjoying his fourth Dacia and I am now on my fifth, all have been fantastic cars with the exception of my Stepway. We would have always recommended them to other people.

However, I do feel very let down by Dacia Customer Services and would appreciate a response from you.

I also attach receipts for the Ubers I needed in January after the last breakdown at the bottom of this letter.

Kind Regards

Alison Amphlett

Appalling service

I am now on my second Dacia, which is little over a year old. The car came up with an amber warning light in November. It has now been in the garage for over a month and no sign of it being repaired as there are no available parts. I've complained to the garage, I've complained to Dacia and all you get told is that everyone is in the same boat and we will just keep in touch with you to let you know if we ever plan to repair your car. Yet you keep advertising new cars - no problem getting them in the country. Appalling customer service and I for one will never buy another Dacia or Renault.
