Deliveroo Illegal practice of chicken preservative sulphur In the UK, it is currently illegal to use sulphur dioxide (or sulphites) as a preservative for fresh or frozen chicken.

While you may have noticed a "sulphur-like" or "eggy" smell when opening vacuum-packed chicken, this is usually due to the gases used in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) to extend shelf life without chemical preservatives. 

Key Facts About Sulphur and Meat in the UK:
* Prohibited in Fresh Meat: UK regulations strictly prohibit adding sulphur dioxide to fresh, chilled, or frozen meat, including chicken.
* Legal Uses: Sulphur dioxide is a "permitted preservative" only for specific items like sausages or burger meat (provided they have at least 4% cereal/vegetable content), as well as dried fruits and soft drinks.
* Why it's sometimes used (illegally): Some unscrupulous traders have been caught adding it to meat because it can artificially maintain a "fresh" pink or red colour even when the meat is beginning to spoil.
* Safety and Allergies: Sulphur dioxide is an allergen. If it is present in concentrations above 10mg/kg in permitted products, it must be clearly listed on the label by law.
* Common Misconception: The "funky" smell you encounter when opening a pack of supermarket chicken is often just the release of trapped gases like carbon dioxide or nitrogen from the packaging; it typically disappears after a few minutes of exposure to air. This meat has come from Asiya. Not fresh from the UK. Asiya. Hong Kong.
If no one picks this up, I will start the sewing process, I want Compensation for the meat I received! I’ve been sick plenty of times from food from Deliveroo. Won’t be buying anything else from you in the future.

Horrible CS

Horrible CS. Not helpful at all. My order was delayed and when I finally got it, it had missing items. They asked me to take photos of the MISSING ITEMS!

They're missing for a reason. How can I possibly take photos of them?!

Absolutely shocking!

Absolutely shocking!! Ordered £30 worth of McDonald’s, hour and half later it turns up stone cold, even the coffees and espresso stone cold! Rang them and because we’ve received the food and it’s safe for consumption they will not refund!!

One star is just too good for Deliveroo…

One star is just too good for Deliveroo or scam_me_roo would be the best fit for this outfit, such a disappointment and waste of money and time, never again...
Lazy driver wanted me to collect my food and to leave my 3 year old son alone in the flat all because she couldn't find my address, despite my instruction of how to locate my address.
They refused to give me a refund all because the tracker show his on street and waited 15 minutes.
They're suppose to be outside my door not on the street waiting for me to leave my son alone home,
absolute limbo of a company its obvious their going down hill once they start cunning their customers.

MISSING FOOD

OMG! where do I start, do not use DELIVEROO, missing food AGAIN from Mcdonalds, a treat for the kids on a Friday evening and they would not re deliver the missing food..... I have to pay for the delivery charge again! and the service charge and meet the minimum order of £25 ..... it should have come with my first order! Mcdonald's charges £3.99 for delivery and is not part of Deliverooplus and it's a few minutes away!

Awful after sales support

Last 2 orders with deliveroo were an absolute frustration 2 the order says delivered and i have not received the food. The options given by deliveroo ate a refund to bank account within 3 to 5 days, reorder or account credit. No compensation and no immediate refund.

Deliveroo is a scams company. Never use Deliveroo.

I ordered Domino's pizza through Deliveroo.

I asked the Deliveroo customer help center because it didn't deliver even if I waited for nearly an hour, and I wanted to cancel the order, but the Deliveroo agent only told me to wait.

As a result of waiting, the delivery app indicated that Domino's Pizza has been delivered.

But it didn't deliver.

I asked Deliveroo for a refund via email because I can prove that it was not delivered because there is a CCTV in front of my house. But they refused to refund without explaining the reason.

Deliveroo is a scams company.

This didn't happen before, but in recent years, something unusual has happened to the company.

Never use Deliveroo.

How hard is it to pick an order up and…

How hard is it to pick an order up and deliver... I just read reviews, 1.3 star rating. I hope everyone stops using this app. I only used it again because of the $15 credit given to me last time I waited 3 hours for my meal which never came because I had to sleep for work. Again today added $5 bucks. order says delivered. Rider was on my street and then obviously left. Hope they catch lying thriving C-words

Waited for over 2 hours for our food. When we contacted deliveroo we pretty much got a reply of "so sad to bad"

This is beyond the joke

We ordered our meals at 8.30pm and it's 10.30 pm now and we are still waiting

Ordered meal with Deliveroo and it was never delivered. Contacted restaurant and they advised rider never turned up. Contacted Deliveroo, and thy just ignored me. Charged me for delivery that never happened. Does this happen regularly?

Worst delivery app

First time (not exactly, it happened before too but the delay wasn’t so bad): my order was cancelled after 1HR delay from the original 50 mins waiting time. Chatted with cs and they gave me $30 credit (was surprised by this).

Second time: ordered, and after 20 mins delay from original 50 mins wait time the driver picked it up, and after few minutes, suddenly app gave me notification the food was delivered which wasn’t.

Rider support called me and said due to damaged packaging the order need to be redelivered but guess what? It takes another 1 hr or more If i want it. Well guess what ? It’s too late for dinner by then for the kids.

Chatted with cs (because rider support can’t give compensation) and they refuse to give any credit for compensation.

Basically, this is the worst delivery app, it takes way longer than any other app and if they stuffed you up, you will be left with nothing.

Reading few of this reviews, seems like i still in better spot considering I didn’t lose any money.

I order lunch for work today

I order lunch for work today, i did not get my food, i got yelled at by the driver rude everytime i called and when i contacted deliveroo they said such behaviour is unacceptable but we will not be offering you a refund. Lol.. what a joke. Never again
