Absolutely useless service. Asking me to verify my details again while this option is clearly not possible. It is absolute shame that this company has monopol contract with UK government while this service is clearly not working.
EVERYTHING is wrong with it. First, uk.gov: this is my THIRD time I've tried to register for gov id over the last 4 - 5 years to access certain gov services. Previous systems that worked have already been abandoned (and 'digidentity' might easily follow, sooner or later). Next: why does a get-brexit-done gov use an .eu website, let alone a private outsourcer, particularly for the storage of KEY personal data for UK citizens? Aren't we supposed to have 'taken back control', Boris? :(
Anyway, digidentity system makes you go round in circles, it never tells you that you can ONLY complete verification on your mobile, forget a desktop. Yes, you can set up a digidentity account on a pc/mac, but THEN it tells you to go to google play to download the app. Don't have a google account, too bad! Well, at least you still can side-load the app. For now. Then the real fun begins, because, if you don't have NFC chip on your phone to read your passport chip, OR your android system is out of date - that's the end of the road for you, digidentity is so sorry! At least, I was able to delete digidentity account without much fuss, before I uploaded any personal information. So, this is the end of a digital road for me (and read other reviews, where that road took them next). Alternative: local post office and hard copies of your documents. This route is STILL open. For now.
Take a selfie....automatically restarts from scanning identify documents...useless garbage
rubbish website, i ahve a fast computer ans the wbsite is so slow, tells you to register but cant find a button to sign up, completely broken
Ridiculously complicated, then it's not recognised by the gov.uk website
Had to sign a document using their app.
Upload doesn't work. Tried 2 devices and 3 different days, yet no results.
Contacted their customer service, all phone numbers are not working.
Tried the chat, and they say they will mail you, but they don't.
At this point I believe they are either bankrupt and can't answer the phone or have being hacked...
Took me 2 hours to access details of my nhs pension. Had to use phone and laptop, constantly being sent emails with codes to input. An IT degree would've been helpful.
Absolutely abominable! I tried to register but it kept telling me the information was incomplete but the error message didn't tell me what was incorrect and I could see absolutely no problem with my e mail address or chosen password.
If this is the standard of their data storage, access and security then I'm afraid it doesn't appear fit for purpose!
Took ten minutes to complete and apply for basic DBS so personally no issues
Absolutely, unbelievably, terrible. I am 2 days in and still the app won't progress me to even allow me to register with gov verify. There is no other option for ex-NHS staff to see their pension details either. It is not fit for purpose.
Dreadful service, slow, glitchy and I cannot believe they won a government contract.
The "chat to us" service is non-sensical and not fit for purpose.
There is no way to speak with an actual person despite this being offered.
It never lets you verify anything and freezes you in the same place.
I cant imagine the person who approved the Government use of this even tried before signing us up to it.
Spent ages trying to upload/scan whatever my passport. If this is so difficult, doesn't give one confidence that they will protect my 'digidentity'!! didn't manage it. Gov should not be using this organisation. Really worrying.
Would give it zero stars if I could. It just doesn’t work absolutely useless. I don’t think it can have been tested very well and not user friendly. The Gov really needs to get its act together as clearly people cannot use this system and get one that works. This one is disgraceful
This site was impossible to use, you need 2 devices and cannot achieve registration without 2 devices. It took me 3 days to get it to recognise me and 2 more to get my documents uploaded.
My husband still cannot get the app to even accept his details. DO NOT USE DIGIDENTITY. Would give no stars if I could.
Utterly pig useless. I just wasted 1 hour of my life trying to use the account to get a basic DBS check - I wasted a similar amount of time previously when I created the account as it now tells me it recognises me, then tells me I can't use it because it doesn't recognise me, then tells me my password is correct, then tells me it's not correct, then says it's sending a password recovery reminder but doesn't do so......and so it goes on and on and on using my tax payer money to rip us all off. The only thing more useless than the government-backed digidentity app is the government responsible for it
Once the app takes all your personal information,it does not process the document checks, just keeps the information, this gov approved app is a waste it time and maybe a way to sell citizens details, rubbish and maybe a cash machine😱😱😱🥴🥴💯
Need to tell the DVLA I'm now on insulin. Sent to Digidenty. Not happy that an outside company was used. Received a phone call, on home phone, from Digidentity with an authentication code. It was 93 million, then a string of numbers garbled out too quickly to write down. Tried again and again but no luck. Yes, I should have entered a mobile number, but don't use it. Maybe I should have clicked on - Don't have a mobile. Anyway, I'll just phone the DVLA on Monday, if I can get through. Surely I could have just entered my driving licence number and something else to confirm it. The task wasn't involving millions of pounds just a tick in a box.
Absolute disaster! Tried to apply online via DVLA website on 26 November 2021 to renew my licence which was to expire on 31 January 2022. Website instructed me to use Digidentity to confirm my ID. It asked for and accepted passport number and driver number, then asked me for the address on my mobile phone contract. What!? I don't have a hardcopy contract. Because of this had to send hardcopy docs and posted them 1st class tracked and signed for to DVLA.I know they arrived on 27 November. It's now 27 March and despite chasing DVLA still have no new licence. Couldn't use post office as alternative method to confirm ID because don't have a post office account. DVLA should bin Digidentity in favour of something which works! It's totally useless.
I was waiting a fair while for my identity to be verified and while waiting, read these reviews. I got really nervous and tried to stop the whole process, delete the account and forget I’d ever signed up. So I requested that using the online chat. The chat simply timed out with no response so the process of verifying continued against my wishes which is poor. However, when my identity check was complete, I thought I’d try using Digidentity to log in to GOV.UK and it actually did work so it’s not quite as bad as the other reviews have stated. I’ll try again for future logins and will update this review if there’s a problem but actually, the process was far simpler than implied and it seems to have done what it claimed to do so I’m hopeful.
