I would strongly advise others to be very cautious when booking with Drivalia, especially if paying in full in advance.
I made my booking on 16th February for vehicle collection from Edinburgh Airport, paying £161.79 upfront. When my travel plans changed, I attempted to cancel the booking on 23rd February — over six weeks before the hire date of Friday 4th April. Despite this, I was unable to cancel online due to an issue with their system and was told that cancellation was not possible because the booking had been paid in full.
I live in Crieff and was no longer flying in on the Friday night, meaning collecting the vehicle from Edinburgh Airport would have required an impractical combination of train, tram, and walking. This was explained clearly, but no reasonable flexibility was offered, despite the significant notice provided and the fact that I have hired with Drivalia several times in the past.
In the end, I had no option but to keep the booking and rearrange collection for the Saturday morning with help from someone else, which completely defeated the purpose of booking and paying in advance.
Very disappointing experience. I would recommend avoiding advance payment with Drivalia, or booking elsewhere to avoid being caught out in a similar situation.

Picking up a small 3 door from Edinburgh airport. If you are 1 hour late to pick up the rental they cannot guarantee the car ordered will be there.
I knew that’s exactly what they were going to do!!
I rang to say the flight was 2 hours delayed but that doesn’t matter. Of course I then had to pay to upgrade because all the small cars were gone. BS
I told her that’s a pure scam. I wanted to cancel at that stage I was so pissed off. Also because me and my kid had waited in the cold for 45minutes for the courtesy bus. I rang the office a couple of times and was told it wouldn’t be much longer. Other customers who arrived at the pick up stop also rang and were told one had just left and they’d just missed it. That was a lie!
I had taken out full insurance with the 3rd party and this didn’t cover all of Drivalias insurance. I didn’t take out anymore with them I had just paid extra, nearly £200 for the upgrade.
I gave 2 stars because the car was perfect the staff were mannerly and handing it back went smoothly.
I will never use Drivalia again though.

Lovely car for my family’s trip to Edinburgh. Nice and clean inside and out. No hassle service. Wayne was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I’d definitely use Drivalia again.

Do not use this bunch of fraudsters they will try and rip you off especially if you are a tourist just off the aeroplane, there is a reason they are not allowed at the airports..... "We dont have your car anymore but we have an upgrade for more money" YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ..I am furious, incandesant with rage even, I will happily pay a bit more at a differnt company and hope Drivalia go under

Charged an extra £40 for 'out of hours drop off', which firstly wasn't explained to me, and secondly, I had to ask one of their competitors if they would take the keys when I returned it. How can it cost more not to have a member of staff, than have a member of staff? And secondly, they have now added an extra £60 that no one at the company knows anything about. The pressure sales tactics to take extra insurance boarders on threatening, and that "some dent or scratch 'might' show up on the car when they check it if you don't pay the extra.

informed that as my flight was late and so was 1 hour twenty minutes later in getting car when when i reserved it they could charge me for a different car at a higher rate!
Then they provided me the car with no fuel in it (28 miles to empty) so i had to find garage to refuel before i commenced my journey
I won’t book such an underhand and penny pinching company again - I would not recommend

Budget car hire…. Car itself was fine, the centre itself is offsite so quite a bit of waiting around for buses to and from the location. The staff member we dealt with was really lovely though.

Awful experience. Waited for pick up from Edinburgh airport for 20 mins then waited another 30 mins to get served only to be told I was then too late to pick up the hire car I had reserved. They huffed around a bit telling me how busy they were then offered me an alternative that I’d need to pay another £70 for! I was hiring the car for one day! Will not use again.
