Extremely efficient and helpful
We have used this company for the last 4 or 5 hires and we have always been met with excellent customer service. Particularly from Edinburgh where we have dealt with the same operator Rob who is extremely efficient and helpful. Even the call centre is operated by friendly staff (real not Ai) who amended a booking for us effectively. I would definitely recommend them. Their information is very clear and the website is easy to use.

Tactfully vague with insurance

I hire cars regularly all over the UK, but this was my first and last time with Drivalia.
I booked well in advance and selected full coverage. At pick-up I was told I had to leave a £350 deposit. I asked for an invoice by email so I could see what the deposit was for, as nothing had been sent to me beforehand. I was assured the invoice would arrive and that the deposit is normally returned within two weeks.
A week after returning home, I still hadn’t received anything. I called Drivalia and finally received the invoice — which showed the £350 was not a deposit at all, but an extra insurance.
This was very surprising, as I had already booked full coverage. After several emails back and forth, I was told that the manager had “clearly explained” that this was insurance. That is simply not true.
Very disappointing experience. Lack of transparency, confusing explanations, and unnecessary pressure.
Never again.
PS added 9-2-25: I see all they do here is add the standard reply, contact us via the portal. I already had contact with them via thier portal, weeks before this review!

The best car rental in town
I can’t recommend this enough. The price is super competitive, the cars are new and fully equipped making driving very pleasant and the location is super central. I usually have to go to the airport for a rental that is affordable and being able to hop on the tram and be there in 20’ makes all the difference. Rob is fantastic as well. He is very knowledgeable and explains everything clearly and in plain language. Never a problem with him! A friend recommended him specifically and after dealing with him once, I decided I would make my rentals there, no question. So far I had different cars, automatic, manual, hybrid… all of them great. And the option to drop off the car out of hours is so convenient.

A solid rental solution, made top notch by Rob and the people there.
Such excellent service by Rob and the Edinburgh City Office.
Drivalia presents itself as a budget rental company, but despite being the cheapest on the market, the cars are a good quality and the app works well. More importantly I always receive great customer service, no matter how busy and stretched they are.

Well that was horrendous!
Well that was horrendous!! Were booked in to collect a booked van at 11am and were still waiting at 1pm. Only about half a dozen people in a queue but only 1 person working and that said person was put hoovering cars while people were waiting on the queue. Will never use this company again.
