Returned my vehicle today and was really happy with the service from start to the end. Recommended

Absolutely disgusting company!! Do not use. If you have a debit card rather than a credit card they will force you into buying a rip off “insurance” policy through them. We had a credit card but because it was in my name and the booking was in my wife’s name they refused to give us the car without taking their “insurance”. They also refused to let us cancel the booking and rebook it in my name. Deliberately shady practices to try and trick / pressure you into buying rip off insurance. Reha in the Leeds Bradford branch is especially unhelpful. Refused to be helpful and told me to call head office. We were sat waiting with two young kids and couldn’t get through to head office. The booking was ~£140, the “insurance” he was trying to force me into was an additional £300 on top.

I didn’t want to post this but I’m not getting any help from the customer service team
I booked and paid for a car to pickup from Leeds branch on July 30th but when I arrived I was told I’d missed the pickup window and my car was gone.
Car was booked for 8 and I got there at 10
This is not clear, that information is 4/5s of the way down the FAQs
He also said I hadn’t booked through their website but I had as I used them three years earlier
The manager said there was another car that I could have but I’d be charged a late fee, he would not accept the proof I had for cdw coverage that I had, he insisted I had to have a paper copy to scan and he could not accept an email.
He then pushed me to get the extra insurance. I asked how much extra it would be to get a car as we were already late for our plans
He said £154 (I later saw I’d been charged £254.01)
The car smelt stale and within an hour of getting it was pulling to the right, different things were beeping at me as I drove, I tried to call customer service but no one picked up, the next day the oil light came on and then we realized it was leaking oil
We checked the oil levels and they were okay
Again tried to call customer service and emergency number but no picked up
Dropped car back at correct spot but the staff didn’t seem overly bothered
The whole situation was so frustrating, the customer service when I reached has been awful, telling me I wasn’t charged for when its listed on bill, unable yo explain the excess costs, minimal reaction to faults and issues
Initial payment for hire more than doubled in the office and they ended up charging me over £470 for 3 1/2 days of car hire
I do understand that cars develop issues
But the lack of customer service was shocking
Beware

When we arrived our car wasnt ready the man who dealt with us was fabulous. His name was Ray. Our car had to be recovered due to a fault. They give us a nicer car at a cheaper rate on the insurance for the amount of days that we had it for due to our car being unavailable. No concerns with the car it was fabulous my wife loved to drive it. Very economical fabulous service from the staff will use again

I picked up the car at Liverpool Airport and returned it at Leeds Bradford Airport. I strongly advise against Drivalia UK. Right from the start, there is aggressive pressure to buy extra insurance, using scare tactics about absurd liabilities and limits just to squeeze more money out of you.
If you decline their insurance, they look for anything upon return. The company hands over cars with concealed or poorly documented pre-existing damage, and then charges your card by entering wrong part codes in their system. In my case, they logged a minor scratch on a plastic wheel arch trim as structural damage to the steel B-pillar. When I submitted a formal complaint with their own photos, staff actually tried to convince me that the B-pillar is located... at the back of the car above the wheel. No comment.
The airport transfer is another story entirely. In Leeds, they drop you off at the terminal in the exact same car you just returned. It doesn't matter if you are traveling as a group of five—one person can just walk to the terminal on foot, which is clearly no big deal for Drivalia. The guy who inspected the vehicle not only seemed completely fed up with his job, but while driving us back, he drove as if he were transporting a load of potatoes rather than human beings.
Avoid at all costs! If you really must use this company, take thorough photos upon pickup and make sure you have your own standalone excess protection insurance.

The service me and my partner received from Drivalia especially the Leeds Depot has been unbelievable from start to finish. The guys in the office are such a pleasure to deal with in particular Ray!

I hired a car from Leeds airport and had already purchased protection insurance, but was told that this insurance was not valid and I needed to take out Drivilia insurance otherwise I would not be permitted to take the car? We felt that we had no alternative but to take the insurance and when we complained afterwards we were told that we had signed for the additional insurance and that was our choice. Terrible experience and I will never use them again.

We turned up this morning to pick up the car and we did not have a PHYSICAL credit card for holding the deposit. This was our bad for not reading the T&C. However, they were not ready to help figure out a solution; despite having driven there with 2 little boys and being clearly distressed. The only option they gave us was to pay 400 GBP for full insurance (when we had already paid premium insurance via a third party when we did the booking). All in all, paid 254 to not drive a car. Will never user Drivalia, nor Easycars again.

I want to preface this by saying that I worked in rental cars for years so I understand the process. I had an extremely disappointing experience with Drivalia that nearly derailed the start of a three-week holiday in the UK.
I was ready to make my booking online when I contacted Drivalia's online chat to ask a simple question about collection arrangements. The chat agent advised they could make the booking for me instead and offered a discount, free cancellation, and a free additional driver. I agreed and received a confirmation email (I now realise this was to allow booking and collection agents to gain a commission which they wont for online bookings).
Unfortunately, the chat agent failed to update the pickup time and left it at the 9am system default. As a result, when we arrived to collect the vehicle, we were told we had been recorded as a "no-show" and our car had been given to someone else.
What concerned me most was that staff confirmed no attempt had been made to contact us before the vehicle was reallocated. This would have identified the booking error and avoided the entire situation.
I accepted that mistakes happen and initially expected Drivalia to resolve the issue by providing an alternative vehicle. Instead, the only option offered was a replacement vehicle costing approximately £630 more than our original £575 booking.
At that point we were overseas visitors, carrying significant luggage, stranded at an industrial estate, and being told our only option was to pay more than double the agreed rental price. We were also told that no manager was available, they have no telephone, and no means to contact head office or the reservations team, this seems implausible.
Despite being told there were no cheaper alternatives available elsewhere, I searched online myself and quickly found another rental company with a substantially better price. When I asked for assistance getting there, the request was initially refused before the staff member eventually agreed to take us.
As someone who has worked in rental car management for many years, I found the handling of this situation far below the standard I would expect. Booking errors can happen. The real test of customer service is how those errors are resolved. In this case, Drivalia created the problem, failed to contact the customer before releasing the vehicle, and then attempted to charge more than double the original booking price to fix it.
At best this is complete failure of all customer service responsibility, at worst this is a deliberate tactic to extort more money/commission from customers you know are in a vulnerable position.
The experience left me with no confidence in the company's customer service, booking processes, or commitment to resolving issues fairly.

I want to call out Rehan Shahzad who was the absolute best. I had issues with the first car but he sorted it out and made sure I had a great replacement for the remaining 5 weeks. The service was outstanding, they really helped me with getting the best price and value. I strongly recommend them and will be using them again on my next trip. Thanks a heap!

I collected a pre-booked rental car from Drivalia’s Leeds-Bradford depot at Coney Park, Harrogate Road, Yeadon this afternoon (24 July 2026).
The experience was extremely disappointing and distressing.
The two staff members behaved in a very discourteous and unprofessional manner. Both engaged in extremely highly-pressurised sales tactics to get me to take out additional insurance despite the fact that I already had a fully comprehensive policy (which I provided at the desk). Even when I declined the additional insurance cover, the staff continued to pressurise me to do so, citing several ‘disturbing’ examples of customers that had not taken the additional cover. The staff members constantly spoke over me and made a number of claims that turned out to be false when pressed further. Indeed, when I expressed my concern about how I was being treated, one of the staff members rudely suggested that I leave if that was the case..
I have rented numerous cars over the years in several different countries and today’s experience was by far the most distressing and disconcerting.
I am actually concerned about returning the car at the end of the rental as today’s behaviour by the staff makes me nervous that I will be charged additional fees regardless of whether the car is returned in an appropriate condition.
