Utterly useless
Utterly useless. Terrible communication skills. A different agent with each viewer. One turned up having locked her bag in another property. Another turned up 10 minutes late for a viewing (I was walking my dogs and saw). We had a very keen 2nd viewing who went away with lots of questions. These were never passed on to me and we never heard back from the people. Would not recommend.
Egregious, absolutely egregious
Egregious, absolutely egregious. Avoid at all costs.

After only renting once before with a previous estate agent where the service has been absolutely terrible, we were really not excited to have to rent again and go through the same. However, we have dealt with Keeley and Pamela, and both have been so lovely to us. Both have answered questions all the way through, let us know they are there if we need them, and have talked us through every step of the way. Duncan Yeardley have completely changed our minds about letting agents and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you Keeley and Pamela!
Discrimination,
Broken oven, its 4 months now still not fixed, very disappointed. They discriminate because ,I'm a single mother with three kids.Rent is always on time. They don't reply to emails.when asked to change the lock due my safety or I can pay for it, they gave me four months notice. You must pay me back for the oven not fixed for 4 months.
Awful experience as first time buyers!
Awful experience as first time buyers. Me and my partner started looking for our first home together at the start of this year. We came across a property that we really liked in February that was marketed with Duncan Yeardley. I won't mention names in this review but I called (and was speaking with J) to arrange a viewing and was made to feel like they didn't really want us to view the property. We had a mortgage in principle, evidence of deposit and solicitors in place, but they were asking for our mortgage offer as evidence that we were 'serious buyers' in order to arrange a viewing. How would we have a mortgage offer on a property that we haven't even viewed?! They begrudgingly arranged a viewing for us, which was then cancelled by the seller due to a birthday (annoying but not Duncan Yeardley's fault) and we rearranged. The day of our viewing arrives and we are both very excited! We arrive at the property and our bubble of excitement is immediately burst when we are greeted by K. I'm not a trained viewing assistant like K, however I thought when you were showing a potential buyer a house marketed at £400,000, you're supposed to greet them with a smile and a warm invitation to come inside and look around... As we are walking up to the front door, before she has even said hello, we were barked at with 'don't touch anything!' (obviously due to Covid). We completely respected this and even arrived wearing gloves as requested. Not a good start, and it only gets worse when she is showing us around. She had no clue about anything to do with the house and admitted she had not even been there before! Despite the awful viewing experience, the house was so nice that it sold itself and we decided to put an offer in. We didn't hear anything back for a while, and once I finally hear from J (after multiple failed call back promises), she informed me that our offer was rejected. We then received an email a week later with our formal rejection, however it had the wrong offer amount on it! I bought this to their attention and they apologised, but it was never confirmed whether the correct offer was put forward or not. Absolute shambles. In March, we purchased our dream first home with Avocado Properties (via Dan and Neil) who were AMAZING! I cannot described how different the experience was. We moved in in June and love our new home! I accept as the buyer that the estate agent is working on behalf of the seller, but do Duncan Yeardley not realise that one day the buyer will become the seller... Look into Avocado Properties with Dan and Neil - they are brilliant and look after both the buyer and seller.
Amazing Service From Aisha!
Amazing Service From Aisha!! Such a great estate Agents!! I've used a lot of companies and they are by far the best!! Thank you for all the help Aisha and the team!!
Gina is amazing
Being first time buyers, we were a little clueless at times during parts of the process but Gina was so helpful and totally went above and beyond! Gina is so friendly and kept in contact giving us regular updates and everything ran smoothly. We love our new home and can’t wait to organise our plans to make it our own.
0 responsibility, 0 punctuality. They don't care about you
Very bad experience with DY and I won’t recommend them. 0 responsibility, 0 punctuality.
All is good when you start with them. They call you, ask some questions, after that in 2 days or so they are calling you to organise the viewing.
Everything is ok, just wait after you pay them the holding deposit. You are told to be called later and this doesn’t happen, so you decide to call by yourself: and surprise she( somebody from their team) just wanted to call you ( at 4 pm!! ) Ok, my patience was at the limits but i decided to wait .
We had a deadline , and they didn’t respect it at all. Their emails came one in a day . Even if you sent them 5 , with the necessary questions . We just wanted to rent an apartment as soon as possible as we had the deadline . They couldn’t give us what we need , or the documents were unchecked, or they had unanswered questions with the landlord : So on and on . And when the deadline came we told them that we Had to found urgently another apartment , because the previously landlord had sold the house and we hadn’t nowhere to go , and we wanted our holding deposit back , where they answered in an short email , that they allready resolved all questions and if we want to move in we need to pay the rent in advance and it’s done , but they had forgotten that this was far from our deadline . To be honest this was 2 days after .
And, they added that we “Withdrawed ” our application and they can’t return our holding deposit which was 200£.
Shame on you guys, we lost our time and money on nothing.
Aisha and Pamela are very unprofessional, probably they were working from home as we started our conversation everytime just in the afternoon. I don't know on what they spent this 200£ pounds as they weren't done nothing at all. Keep my money, hope you will get some professional courses on them.
Excellent company to deal with
Excellent company to deal with. We purchased a property through them and are now renting a property out through them. Both transactions handled very well. Highly recommended
Great when start renting, awful when you move out!
Great when you found a place with them to rent and helpful sales staff but once you are a tenant there is little 'service'. They recommend Homeshift for Energy suppliers. DO NOT even bother, total rip off (and impossible to get through to them except wait for a reply on their terms and then they are useless)
THEN you finish your rental period and move out and have the totally unpleasant experience of the check out inventory...The company they use are basically there to screw you as much as possible to get the Landlord all of your deposit back! I had a bill for putting up a small coat hook on porch door and Landlord wanted £10 for me ADDING it! I removed a small cheap faded religious symbol sticker from front door and got charged £5! I replaced the damaged laminate floor in kitchen at my own expense and this was overlooked as was me not mentioning a 240v plug socket in the bathroom!!
SO disappointed with Duncan Yeardley as it was clear they pass everything on to other firms YOU DO NOT CHOOSE to work with.
Awful experience and I lost over £500 in deposit in the end for leaving property in better condition than when i moved in! I own my own flooring company and the mould and damp under laminate in kitchen was a health hazard I took care of. Personally, I wont be using Duncan Yeardley again in future when or if I need a new rental property.
Strongly Recommend
Absolutely faultless throughout the entire process - can't endorse them highly enough!
Our experience with Duncan yeardley…
Our experience with Duncan yeardley started only few month ago, we were happy to meet a friendly and professional team, that helped us find and moving into our new house quicker than we expected. They answered quick to our requests and put interest in solving various aspects regarding the property, assured good communication with landlord as well. All our thanks and regards to Pamela Devlin, Danielle Penfold, and Maureen Cooper for making all this happen! We mostly interact with them but we are sure the rest of the team deserves appreciation. Thanks!
Sales progression was awful, we lost a buyer!
We spoke to 3 agents last November and chose DY on the basis that they had someone with 20 yrs experience in sales progression and that the bags of experience would make the process straight forward.
Well if losing a buyer through DY taking information from our solicitor and telling our buyer the complete opposite; they start looking for another house and pull out 2 days before exchange is straight forward? I have a whole new dictionary definition.
As the sale went quickly we decided that it must be a one off, again we sold reletively quickly to first time buyers. As most of the process was completed with our solictors already we thought it would be starightforward.
However at every step sales progression at DY tried to change our plans, removal company and find workarounds to make their lives easier. Again when it came down to the final steps there was always conflicting information 'we are waiting for this document says one email' our reply was 'you said that was already in?' 'oh sorry comes the reply' In the end I had to resort to writing a numbered list and asked to work to it so we could complete our sale and purchase (I'm paying for thsi level of service!).
Since our sale 2 weeks ago we have not had 1 contact or phone call from DY to say thank you for the business. This review was driven by everyone else in our sale/purchase asking for feedback on the services provided but nothing from DY.
I have no idea how the awards were won as the sales progression service casued us pain, stress and frustration. I would not recommend DY to anyone wishing to sell a property.
My recent move from hell!!
Still a few days from completion but feel compelled to write this so others can make an informed choice about DY. I live around 5 mins from their office and they have a lovely catchment area in which they feature heavily.
I chose them on the basis that I knew my property was in an area that is highly desirable to first timers and young families, and DY seem to have the monopoly on sales as the have proliferated the area with sold and For Sale signs which I considered to be a good thing!
Our move was always time sensitive due to school holidays and the process of applying for a new school out of area to meet with education authority deadlines.
DY assured us the first time buyers whose offer we accepted had everything in place and agreed to work with us to ensure the ample time we had given would be enough to get matters in place for completion (we started the process in early April). We couldn't of course control how long a chain might be involved at that point but luckily the chain is extremely short in this case.
The house went from on the market to under offer in just short of 10 days as DY had prospective buyers already waiting in the wings. We purposefully waited for this offer before really looking for our next property to ensure our sale was ahead of any prospective purchase.
Under 2 weeks later we found the house we were looking for and 24 hours later our offer had been accepted, at this point we still hadn't received a memorandum of sale from DY as the buyers still didn't have a solicitor?!! The folks we are buying from sent their memorandum 24 hours later by recorded delivery.
This was effectively the beginning of 5 months of a process fraught with dead time and extremely painful delays while my daughters school waiting list grew longer and longer due to being an "out of area" applicant. The process seemed to just float along with only our vendors estate agents proving to be slightly bothered by the lack of movement in the chain.
DY did very little to monitor the process although they were fully aware of the time constraints, set at the beginning of the transaction.
As I write this I still don't have a school place and will have to commute my daughter to her old school for the first term or until an in year school place becomes available.
The process of moving is stressful enough but when your vendors agents are the most proactive at checking in and ensuring all is well there surely has to be a problem?
My review seeks not to "bad mouth" or denigrate DY but to purely put facts on the table for anyone that seeks to use them for this process.
Agents are very good at painting a picture of what should happen during the process but at times can be quite aloof at owning the process leaving the lay person feeling very very irate.
My property is a freehold with no boundary issues and we bought a freehold with no boundary issues.
Good luck!
