Awful service. Claims and complaints are dealt with in such a way that I have spent literally hours on the phone on hold and sending numerous emails, none of which get answered. If you have bett... See more

NCD SCAMMERS
HELLO!
If you havnt purchased you insurance with ecar yet i would highly recommend that you didn't !
BUT if you have....I hope this email helps you and saves you the stress that it caused me
Purchased my policy through confused.com, was told to email copies of my NCD and license, So I did. Two days after my policy was taken out I received a phone call asking if they could verify my details with both my previous insurers and DVLA while I was on the phone so that i didn't have to email the copies. I agreed even though I had already sent the emails. Everything was verified....all good yes? NO they then started bombarding me with emails and letters saying they were going to cancel my policy with in so many days because I hadn't verified my proof?????(i would be charged a cancelation fee £75 a months insurance and commission fee! So i was going to call before I see the price!!!! so again I emailed over my proof.....in total I emailed it 6 times. Every time I emailed I received a response from a computer generated email ( we have received your email but it does not state your NCD) BUT it did, i sent emails to three different addresses stating my problems, no reply from one and the other just sent out a generated email saying the same thing. Frustrated I gave in and tried to call-45mins later I gave in and put the phone down! I then posted my copies of proof (recorded delivery) again no reply! Every time I called I was told by a computer to wait because they were experiencing a high number of calls...I simply could afford to stay on the line. I emailed asking for help again no reply. In the end i thought thats it im going to loose the policy and my money!
until today! MASSIVE THANKS TO DAVE AT TRADING STANDARDS! I sent and email expressing my concerns along with proof of my NCD, within an hour he called me asked me a few questions and confirmed there did seem to be some sort of scam conspiracy about ecar insurance on the web. He then emails them for me. WELL WELL WELL with in two hours I received a phone call confirming that they did have my NCD proof :) I asked them to send me email confirmation while I was on the phone (I was to scared to put the phone down in case they never confirmed and i had no proof) "thank the lord for the iPhone" checked my email before the conversation ended. the call was from Charlotte form customer service journey department she was polite however when i asked why my NCD had been verified before she simply stated that she had found it in the spam box...note that I did get computer generated emails back (well thats fancy a spam folder that sends out computer generated emails that can also read attached files)
At the moment Im relieved however I keep an eye on my policy because i have read that other people have still had it canceled with out even knowing!
So anyone with the same problem I would recommend these steps.
If you have had the phone call to confirm and verify your details
Still send photocopies via email. IF you get back an email saying its not proof. I would then send the same emails with your proofs to all departments including the complaints.
while waiting for proof I would also recommend to send via post recorded delivery. (build the evidence) prints the emails, keep your post receipts and documents the names of people you speak to on the phone and the dates and times. If you then start to receive threats to cancel your policy.
You then contact your local trading standards office and ask them for help.....AND HAPPY DAYS your proof will then be verified!
and then you also have the evidence of all the contact you have tried to make (incase they one day decide to cancel your policy...yes it has happened to some people!)
all my evidence sits in a draw at home correctly filed incase they do one day decide to TRY and scam me again!
Trading standards also emailed me to see if the matter had been sorted! amazing service!!!!!!
BEWARE!
e car are discraseful. they may seem the cheepest on the surface, but god help you if you have a problem that there rubbish web site can not sort. iv added all calls up and total bill £130!!!!!!! This was because i changed my car and insurance changed then they changed it back to my old car!!!! This took 3 days to resolve.....3 days of no insurance and no refund!!!! PLEASE BEWARE it may end up costing alot more!!
Terrible company
I had nothing but problems from day one with them. They are almost impossible to speak to and are poorly organised, have terrible customer service skills and don't seem to communicate at all between departments. I spent months telling them they had my no claims proof but they kept saying they hadn't and tried to charge me more money until i got trading standards involved, when, suddenly, the documents appeared. Then they closed my claim for the same reason months later without my knowledge. I was then pulled by police for having no insurance and when the police called them they said they had no records of me. I had my car impoinded and face prosecution. I would advise anyone looking for car insurance to never, ever, ever use this company.
don't use this company.
I too am experiencing many problems with e Car. Like others here, I have had massive hassle over copies of driving licence and No Claims...all sent, but they wouldn';t accept for varied reasons...non valid...eventually they charged me almost twice as much for the policy as originally agreed. I have received the same threats of cancellation fees etc etc. Today, I have a puncture, so called the RAC with whom I am covered for At Home breakdowns according to my E Car policy. They have no record of me. I called the breakdown service from E Cars website...cost £10, they havent heard of me either. But they do have another car (belonging to someone else) registered to my address. I called another number for ecar but the service is not in operation at the moment, please try later. I emailed them...but they say they are very busy and will answer me in 3 days. This is the EMERGENCY breakdown cover that I pay them for!!! I am a woman alone in an isolated country farm. I cannot change the wheel as the nuts have been put on by machine. and, it is a big LandRover. E car really need to sort themselves out. I will be making a complaint if I do not get a helpful answer very shortly. And, I would dearly love to reclaim the money spent on fruitless phone calls. and my wasted time, and inconvenience. I cannot even get out to buy food.
Has anyone here had any joy at all with complaints against this company?
How I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing policy
I cannot choose a rating as they do not come with a minus before them!
Oh it seems before I can place the review I do have to choose a rating - please be aware that there should be a minus sign before the rating I have given this company
Please like the other reviewers do not and I repeat not deal with this company.
I have now cancelled the car insurance policy I bought and would rather pay a cancellation fee than have to deal with them ever again.
How they have won an award beats me!
WORST COMPANY EVER!!!
I have recently insured my car with ecar and since then it has been an absolute NIGHTMARE! They ask for both proof of NCD and photocopies of all named drivers' licenses (paper and card) and the front and the back of the licenses.
I live in Lincoln and my parents live in Norwich so they are having to send me via post all of the necessary documents for me to photocopy etc and then send to ecar. I also had to request proof of NCD from my previous company which took 7 days to start with. Obviously all of the previously mentioned factors cause delay and with the threatening emails of cancellation of policy from ecar it's just stressful!!
Not only has this whole scenario become stressful it is also COMPLETELY time consuming amd quite frankly a chore! I also do not believe all of this is necessary! All of this is one thing, so you try calmly to phone and email to explain...
BUT NO, ecar is no ordinary modern company who reply to emails within a week or answer their phones within an hour...their phonelines are also only open 9 - 5:30 monday - friday making them virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get in contact with for a working person especially myself who is a teacher and therefore unable to leave my class of children to call a PATHETIC insurance company.
IF YOU WANT FUSS FREE INSURANCE AND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT TAKE OUT A POLICY WITH ECAR!!!! GO WITH A GOOD INSURANCE PROVIDER - I RECOMMEND DIAMOND FROM PAST EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!
Zero rating!!!
I wish I had read these reviews before taking my policy out with ecar! I originally spoke to ecar on the phone to ensure my no claims bonus for my company car would carry over to my private vehicle which they confirmed would be fine. They lied. They found constant fault with the documentation I provided and provided tighter and tighter deadlines for me to revise and resubmit the information. For example, they refused a company headed email of my no claims bonus (despite me asking them up front on the phone if this would be acceptable) and demanded a letter expressing the exact same information in 72 hours. They kept finding faults and we were bouncing emails back and forth almost every day for a month before this was all sorted, and they ended up demanding a further £80 administration charge for the priviledge! Unfortunately it would have cost me even more money to cancel my policy so I had no option but to pay. I will run out the period of my contract and hope never to speak to these people again.
Please people of the world, DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THESE PEOPLE! Their staff are unbelieveably incompetent and will fail to respond to even simple requests if it doesn't suit them. This company exists purely to milk you for every penny. Please avoid at all costs!
ecar ORWELLIAN NIGHTMARE!!!
I don't want to go into all the details of my experience with this company, will i ever get the money back. They are an Orwellian nightmae, every letter states in large print how there sophiisticated technology and databases target criminals.Maybe they should target themselves.Iguess actually insuring people may leave them with some responsability, much better bussiness to cancel customers on any possible grounds by never responding to e.mails or using various methods to confuse the customer.Whether you cancell with them or they cancell you either way they get paid. It's called legalised robbery.
Cant rate it any lower.
BEWARE! PLS READ!!
Please please read this before getting insurance with Ecar. They are criminals. Do not get insurance with them!!!! I know they are cheap but its all a con. They get you to sign up. Charge you a large deposit fee. charge you a months inusrance and then cancel with a £75 fee. They cancel with any excuse they can find.
DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY NO MATTER HOW CHEAP!!!!
I went onto the ecar website to add my partner to my policy to find my insurance policy had been cancelled?
I was not informed of this via post or email. I emailed ecar asking why my policy had been cancelled and their responce was that i had not sent off a copy of my drivers licence? (i had sent a copy). The email further revealed that the policy was cancelled SIX MONTHS earlier? I had been driving for that long with no insurance.
I checked my bank statements to find out that they were taking monthly payments of £71 for the non existent insurance. I then emailed them stating this and that they owe me hundreds of pounds and i am still waiting for a response 1 week later.
Its funny how the first email was answered in the same day.
So to sum it up ive been driving around illegally and am also over £500 down.
Never ever use this company.
eCar ~ eCrap!
eCar are quite literally the biggest rogues to grace the car insurance market - Fact! Their lack of fairness, customer care and inefficiency knows no bounds. Words cannot describe how appalling they are. They charge you the FULL amount upfront - but don't acknowledge if you cancel within the 14 day cooling off period - charge you £75 - don't pay you any refund - and then have the audacity to hit you out of nowhere with an outstanding bill for £38?! And you only get 14 days to pay or it'll be passed to a debt collection agency.
Anyone who has any sense should avoid any dealings with eCar - and if even one person is influenced by this review then my job is done! But should you ignore this advice then be sure that in any dealings with them that you send any correspondence by recorded delivery - they have a bad habit of not receiving anything sent to them otherwise.
Never join ecar
Ecar are thieves. I cancelled my policy in 11days which was well within the 2 weeks cancelation period and out of the deposit of £175 p paid they took a cancelation fee of £75 a direct debit fee of £25 and in end I never got any refund back out of 175 they took. They even told them I owed them a further £38. Disgusting thieves. Plus the high premium phone line they charge to call them. Please let's this serve as a warning to every one. Never join this insurance company or you loose your money
Discusting company
They take your money and have no way of contact other than £1 a min phone line! Or waiting for there email response!
I've been waiting on a refund of £230 since within hour of purchase!
Total waste of time! Have contacted trading standards and watch dog!
SCAM - spare yourself the stress!!!!
E-Car are a nightmare. DON'T USE under any circumstances! The £75 cancellation fee is a deliberate scam to make money. They turn down 25% of customers on spurious reasons and keep the £75. My partner had the same experience as others on this forum, returned the requested documents straight away and was then told they had arrived 2 days too late and his policy was cancelled - without any warning!! We are still waiting for a refund of the extra premiums paid and the remainder of the deposit. NOT WORTH IT!!!!
NO STAR!!! - no claims discount scammers!!!
All I needed was my van insurance
Dealing with this company was like a test of endurance
there is a problem with your ncd we'll look into
then never get back in touch with you
.. looking like i been robbed like all of yous
oh how I wish I'd first read these reviews......
You need to chase them!
Cheap, but cheap for a reason. They sent all my papers to the wrong address, cancelled claiming they hadn't received my driving licence & no claims bonus papers (without warning), and have taken over £300 from me for just one month, with £100 "commission charges", £75 for cancellation, and they decided to increase the insurance by £300 - again without telling me. Communication is awful, customer service is awful and I will be consulting the ombudsman as to how I can pursue this shocking company from a legal viewpoint.
Additional information - just upgraded them to three-star after a conversation with their Customer Journey department (someone called Charlotte) - and they agreed to refund the money. You absolutely have to chase eCar and threaten them with the financial ombudsman, and it appears they will react.
zero
After taking out a 12 month policy with e car insurance & a £300 deposit i was then asked to send off my licence i tried a number of times to do this. I also sent it by registered post on the 2 occasion.
I was told this had still not been received, then 3 days after the date they stated my licence was due i received a e mail saying my policy was cancelled as they had not received it in time.
In total they had more than £500 off be to be insured for month!!!
Total s***t company & something needs to be done about them.
I for one will be taking it further.
Shame there isn't a zero!!
I have just taken out a 12 month policy with e-car insurance, they took my £500 pound deposit off me in no time. However less than one month into the policy they did not take the first months payment, then they cancel my policy for failing to pay, when they money is sitting in my bank!! They offered me an 'oustanding payment' in which I would have to pay £2000 in two days in order to keep my policy going. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY NO MATTER HOW CHEAp THEY SEEM!!!
no star rating...jokers!!!!
Absolute joke of a company.
After they cancelled my insurance for not recieving my NCD, (which i sent) and paid £374.82 to them and was insured for a total of 25 days.
I tried to claim a refund to be told they have 30 days to process it from the date they recieved my policy back which was the 6th jan, it is now the 23rd Feb and after recieveing various emails from various people, they have told me today that I am not entitled to a refund and infact I may owe them £77.
I will be seeking advice from financial obudsman regarding this matter as feel I have been totally ripped off! And from what I can gather other people have been treated the same, this company can and should not be left to treat people this way.....disgusting!!!!
AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!!!!
Online company? Tried and tried to cancel my policy over and over again ONLINE....Only to be redirected to premium rate phone number..Never again!!!! I think that one star needs to be replaced with a steaming turd. Bye.
