Bordering on fraud.

Please. If you are reading this before insuring with eCar then DO NOT.
After two previous policies with them (still current) we needed a third. For the first time they requested copies of our driving licences. These were scanned and sent. Then the fun started. No confirmation email came through. Thirteen emails over the next few days elicited (finally) a response that I had sent them from the ‘wrong’ email.
Policy cancelled.
Black mark against us and a £75 cancellation fee.
They claim emails not received, sent from ‘wrong’ email address, data protection act blah blah.
Just don’t, please.

wont refund the money or answer my emails do not use 'theifs'

i have only had a licence for seven months got my first car and ecar come up cheapest so i did what most people would do, 6 months down the line thay asked for my v5 within seven days or thay cancel my policy, so i phoned ecar as i was worried, it cost me £60 as was on hold for an hour i contacked d.v.l.a and thay said that thay would send one but it will take six weeks so i once again phoned ecar very un help full said she would get back to me and let me no what to do, no one never got back, next thing i got a letter on the 19th saying my policy was cancled on the 15th so i hade been driveing with no insurance for four days, I phoned, and emailed, finley got a responce that was very rude and unhalpful, still waiting for a refund and explanation, no one will answer my emails, going to contact trading standards, it amaizes me how a company can get away with this do not use them.

Very Questionable attitude to customers.

It may be amongst the cheapest and has unusually long European cover, however its customer service is dreadful!! As it is an internet company they only allow communication via email. The problem is that if they disagree, or cant be bothered they don't get back to you. (in my case they wouldn’t answer my dispute concerning no-claims-discount and punitive charges!). I tried twice for 30minutes to telephone on their £1/ minute line and was left on hold listening to musak. I therefore would not want to risk having to go through a claims procedure with them. One can read evidence elsewhere that this indeed turns out to be a problem.

They do not have a culture or policy of nurturing and keeping customers. It is an aggressively priced business model which allows for attrition presumably as they front load the charges. In my case I fell foul of not delivering my 9 years no-claims evidence. Instead of trying to contact me or charging a little more until proven, they terminated the policy and refunded less than I was due. They owe me £81 and won’t return emails. You pay for what you get, - AVOID.
