I loved this itinerary. Great mix of history, culture, and exploring the more modern side of Japan.

My daughter loved Japan! She went with a group from her school, the only thing is she said that she was hoping to see more of the most visited areas and would have liked to visit Disney .
I enjoyed it very much.
Overall great. Too much “free time” in big cities where we just wander around. Often we had like 45 minutes at a historical shrine, castle, or museum. I didn’t go to Japan to shop, but to learn.
From a holistic perspective, my travelers and I attained a solid grasp of how different Japan is compared to our home country. It was insightful, and definitely sparked a plethora of learning opportunities. The only adjustment I would make is trying to stay off the bus more often and/or spending less time shopping. We did enjoy getting to experience the shopping districts, but for what we were hoping out of the trip, we spent too much time browsing shops rather than being culturally immersed. I think I did see EF offers a trip that is a little longer and offers more shrine visits, a mediation experience, and some other cool excursions. I think next time I will also see if we can go out to one of the beach towns or Okinawa to get a more rural experience of Japan and if we are to shop, we support some of the smaller town businesses.
This experience was amazing but this felt more like touring a muesum than taking a vacation. And i might want to go back to Japan but with the fun active adventures
Great experience!
Just go!!!
Best trip
I want a lifetime opportunity that was beautifully executed and supported. Hands down the best experience we've ever had. We are looking forward to the next EF Tours trip! What a way to see the world, educate yourself on other cultures, and get a full experience while being abroad.
Best trip ever! He hasn’t stopped talking about it since he got home.
Five stars. This was an outstanding trip and I would do it again. What EF is doing well: Our tour guide was the single biggest reason this worked. She kept a group of teenagers engaged for a full week, knew when to teach and when to get out of the way, and had a real sense of humor about it. Passing dried sardines around the bus and calling them a delicacy was the kind of thing the boys will still be telling people about in ten years. If EF wants to know what a great guide looks like, look at her. The itinerary balance was excellent. In a single day we went from the Cup Noodles Museum to Todai-ji and Fushimi Inari. Modern pop culture in the morning, thousand year old religious sites in the afternoon. That contrast did more to explain Japan to these kids than any amount of lecturing would have. The trip consistently had us doing things instead of just looking at things. The tea ceremony in Asakusa, the taiko drum lesson, building our own cups at the Cup Noodles Museum, the craft demonstrations at Iyashi no Sato. Those are the stops the kids talked about at dinner. The free time was well judged. Akihabara, Harajuku, and Shibuya gave the group room to explore on their own terms, and there was enough flexibility that when I spotted a stone path up to an overlook above the Hozu River in Arashiyama, I could take a few of the boys up it instead of marching straight back to the bus. That turned out to be my favorite view of the whole trip. The logistics were essentially invisible, which is the highest compliment I can give them. Shinkansen, coaches, hotels, transfers. Nothing broke and nobody was left standing around wondering what was next. And the trip stretched the kids. Only six of us made the full Fushimi Inari summit hike in 95 degree heat. A few of the younger boys really struggled, and the ones who finished were genuinely proud of themselves. That accomplishment mattered as much as the destination.
We got to see so many incredible shrines, and temples not to mention the Pokémon store the anime strip all of the wonderful things that Japan had to offer. We got to sample a little bit of everything in my opinion. The only thing I wish would’ve been included is something with a wonderful ocean or beaches of Japan
The tour was a trip of a lifetime for my kid. EF, along with the school teacher made the days and nights smooth. I felt my kid was always safe. The students enjoyed the tour guides knowledge for the country, stories, places to go, etc. I would definitely choose EF again. The teacher was also very knowledgeable with having traveled before through EF. She also kept in contact with all students and if I had a question.
Our child had an amazing experience!
It was a great experience for my daughter to travel and learn about Japans culture.
A great first place to venture with students!
Amazing tour for students with excellent guides.
My daughter loved the tour guide and the attractions. She loved it.
Great excursions, good mix of country and big city, tour guide friendly and knowledgeable, spoke great English. Plenty of free time to explore on their own.
