I have rented a Peugeot 3008 for about…

I have rented a Peugeot 3008 for about 5 weeks each summer the last couple of years and have been very satisfied with the experience: The car felt new and the service was fine.

The only problematic thing is that it is very difficult to drive the car in/out of the pick up place at Gl Kongevej in Copenhagen since you need to cross a broad pavement, a bicycle path and parked cars that obstructs the view.
Having acquired my driver license late in life, picking up and returning the car was very difficult and the main reason why I consider using another company for this years holiday.
It would be great if Europcar offered to park the car a more convenient pick up place.

Terrible

Terrible experience
Book on a very competitive price and then got charged more than 4 times the initial price for some random charges (extra km per km, extra fee for exceeding km)
Details of the contract and conditions should be explained

They do not know the word customer…

They do not know the word customer service.

After a bad experience booked via rentalcars.com I agreed with the front office guy that we should cancel the booking.

Now they are making up stories about me using the car for hours and that I have to pay.

My suggestion is to avoid Europecar and use Enterprise instead.

The cars are "always" in the same category but then they give you damaged and old cars.

I will not get my money back maybe you can save your self the hassle.

Hej Boye,

I never liked to rent cars

I never liked to rent cars, but some time ago i was forced to do it anyway. I choosed Europcar , just because it was a name i had heard before.
I am now to my third experience with them , and i can say that i feel like i am in good hands. I am polite torwards the employees ,treat the cars better than i do with mine, and they treat me back politely and professionally, and i get reliable cars in good conditions to affordable prices.
Actually now i have another feeling about renting cars, and when i travel, it is an option i consider more often then ever done before.
If they Keep it up , it is going to be the only company i am going to rent from.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. We hired a car from Aarhus. First of all they explained the charges for vehicle damage. We checked the car very carefully and found a large scratch which they were clearly hoping that we wouldn't notice in order to charge us for When they totalled the mileage, they gave an incorrect figure, using our allowance of 90km for only 2 days, instead of the 3 that we hired for and took the money from the credit card. The additional charges were almost as high as the cost of the car. When you reply to them, they refuse to acknowledge responsibility, stating that you booked through a broker and should contact them, although the bill, payments and communication clearly comes from the company itself.

I rented a car from the office in…

I rented a car from the office in Aarhus. For second time Europcar tries to cheat me with the mileage. But this time I took a picture of the dashboard 3 minutes before I returned the car. And they tried again to charge me for extra km, even though I have not driven so many km. This time I have a proof that they try to cheat their customers. My advice to you is not to rent a car from them, because you cannot trust them. Or if you rent a car then always take a picture of the mileage.

AVOID!

AVOID! Promises a lot when you rent a car. When the actual bill turns up you will see what you actual charge is. Almost +500 kr for me for a trip from Cohenhagen to Aarhus. I feel like an moron for choosing their "services"!

AVOID! NOT AT ALL trustworthy, nor responsible company!

I strongly recommend all the ones who read this review to avoid Europcar Danmark and particularly the very poor service, super unfriendly and arrogant staff at their office in Gammel Kongevej-Copenhagen. I had a car rental for 28th December at 7:30 am and I had a ferry ticket in hand for 10:45 am, but when I arrived in the office, I have been told that my booking has been canceled without sending ANY NOTIFICATION to me! I simply had no idea what to do! They made no explanation of how, why and who made it canceled and even refused to take the responsibility when they could see me very stressed and desperate to start my new year's holiday! Instead, they wanted to charge me for a new booking (which has been canceled by their own mistake) for a cost of 4 times more expensive than the original booking! It's necessary to mention that all these happened though I called them one week before the pick-up and they kept me sure on the phone that everything is fine and set with the booking and I just need to show up on 28th with the required documents to pick up the car!! and now, on the pick-up day, I hear that they canceled my booking for no reason and even didn't bother themselves to inform me!!
When I started to show my frustration on the issue, they threatened me that I have to shut up my mouth and leave the office: that's what they mean by customer service efficiency! Unfortunately, it was the first time I could experience such horrible irresponsible service in Denmark and personally believe it should be reported for the sake of other potential customers. I NEVER go there again and demand their PR team to provide a convincing explanation, if they ever care to read this review!

Overcharged on all counts

Overcharged for fuel, a one way fee, charged insurance I hadn't asked for, prices did not match my confirmation and a poor customer service at drop off, they wouldn't even check the car and now I have been.unsuccessful getting a.refund for fuel. They have refunded the CDI but I had to contact Aarhus and Aalborg. Europcar customer service have not responded. Prices fluctuate a lot on the website day to day and different.cars are available at different rates on the app but it will not allow.me to register for it.
Really don't trust them to not do the same next time. So I will boycot them, its not worth the hassle and worry regarding my deposit. Which was also a larger sum than quoted

Horrible service

I rented a car in Copenhagen via Norwegain.com when I booked my flight. When I complete my reservation on Norwegian.com I gave my address in Denmark, where I live. When I went to pick up the car from the Europcar Danmark and Europcar would not deliver the car, since the taxes was not paid. I offered to pay the additional taxes, but Europcar said their system couldn't handle it. I was therefor forced to rent a new car, without unlimited milage and the price was four times higher then the original advertisement they had on Norwegian.com

I talked to their customer service, but it's not possible to get an answer.

Stay away from this business. Shady service and they rip you off.

Update: I understand that you need to follow the danish tax laws, but then you should inform your customers about it.

Dear Jostein,

Thanks for your feedback. However, we have to abide to the tax laws of Denmark. We are only allowed to provide those conditions to non-residents in Denmark. That applies to all rental companies operating in Denmark.

Kind regards,
Alan

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service. Unfortunately I missed the opening time of the Aalborg city branch for my booking by 20 minutes. I immediately phoned the airport to enquire if I could use a car at that branch, but was told they could not look up bookings for the city branch on their computer system. I then phoned the openly hostile Europcar customer services phone line to enquire whether I could use a car from the Aalborg airport branch instead. I was told that opening hours were clearly written on their webpage and if I wanted a car, I would have to pay again and make a new booking. I lost my full rental payment, and travelled by train during my stay in Denmark, which was a pleasant experience, and immensely preferable to more dealings with the rude and ineffective Europcar.

SUPREME CAR RENTAL

Thank you very much for your fantastic service - We frequently rent cars in Denmark with different car rental companies but will here admit that The Car rental Company EUROPCAR possess a level which is significantly higher than than all the other car rental companies both with regarding to response time, personale Service, and not at least car choices. There is absolutely no doubt that we Will return to EUROPCAR next time we hire a car.

Europcar and EasyTerra, run away from them!!!!

I rented a car in Copenhagen, Denmark for two days and when I complete my reservation on the platform of EasyTerra I gave my address in Denmark, where I live. When I went to pick up the car from the Europcar Danmark, the price was four times higher than the price on the website, I refused to finish the process and to pick up the car.

I complained, but Europcar told me that they didn't take the money (should I believe them) and EasyTerra Denmark rejected my complaint, didn't refund my money and hanged up the phone!!!!

Totally unacceptable!!!!

Be careful with these people

Be careful with these people. I booked a car online with free mileage. I was very careful with this. But when I turned it in, they charged me €390 for additional miles. As it turned out, the confirmation mail I received after the booking did say that the mileage was not free, but I did not suspect they would change my booking like that. However, Europecar was aware that this "mistake" often happen, but did nothing to warn me. Neither were they interested in correcting the error in their booking system nor to refund me. It was a very disappointing experience.

Very poor service

Very bad customer service. We tried to rent a car from Europecar. We booked it on Monday, we needed the car for Saturday. We got no answer and it turned out Friday after 3 pm that they have no car available. I don't have to say how stressful it is to find an other car Friday afternoon for the next day.

Credit card charge 7 months after renting!!

Rented a car in Malaga as did my brother and my Dad. Paid the extortionate fees for this and that, whatever, car was fine, used it for two weeks, handed it back, no damage, deposit refunded a week later.

That was in August 2016. Today, 28th March 2017, Europcar charge £209 to my credit card! More than 7 months later.

Just over 1 month ago they did the same to my brother, he then had to jump through hoops and then got a 'sorry it was a mistake' and then refund. I'm doing the same now.

Do not accept it is a 'mistake'. Someone needs to explain this. When I purchase and pay for service I expect that that is the end of it. I don't expect to be charged again for nothing many months later, and neither did my brother.

My Dad is on high alert.

Check your statements, for rest of time it seems. Or better still cancel the card you used at Europcar and avoid this. Or even better, Europcar why don't you stop stealing money from people??

EuropCar DK - Copenhagen Airport - Dirty Car, Dirty Child Seat, Poor Service, Unethical

Went back home to Denmark on on vacation (just returned last week) and have rented a car through EUROPCAR DENMARK

When i got to the Eurocar counter it all seemed ok at first. However, things changed quickly.

Firstly, the female agent at the counter tried to sell me an a third party insurance (around $15 per day for 10 days). At first i didn't think much of it and thought that it might not have been included included when i booked it online and she was being helpful and service minded. However, I was wrong. Just before swiping my card i asked if I have not already paid for this when booking online (on a third party provider)? To my surprise she told me: ''yes''.

Naturally, I asked why she was then trying to sell me their insurance if I already got one and paid in advance? She answered that I did not have to buy it but she then explained that I was to meet with anan accident I would be re-imburse right away by Eurocar. In other words, if I did not get it I would have to pay the damage myself and then get re-imburst later by the company where I booked the car from from online. Obviously, I declined her ''offer'' and hintet to her that I found it quite that she was trying to sell me something that she knew I had paid for ones already - extremely unprofessional and unethical up-selling strategy.

Oh yeah, i forgot; since i did not buy their insurance i had to leave almost US$ 2,000 in deposit. I had not been informed about this policy in advance and have never experienced with any other car rental company in the past. Again, this seemed like a cheap trick to try get people to buy their insurance as some people may not have that kind of money to leave as deposit and may find it easier to just pay the additional $150 for the insurance instead.

Secondly, when I got the keys I was informed that i had to go pick up the child seat I had booked in advance myself. Please note that I had been travelling for 10 hours with an infant, had 50KG of luggage, it was 8PM and 3 degrees. So I told the agent that I had booked this in advance and that I expected that they would install it for me (if you have kids you know that installing a child seat the first time is never easy and can easily take 5-10 min. This may not seem like a lot but with an infant under your arm it feels like a lifetime. And again, i had booked it in advance!). To my surprise, again, she simply told me that staff had left already and so this is was the only way to do it now (Translation: ''I don't care about you and your kid so figure it out yourself and leave")

Anyway, I got the car set sorted and managed to find one that was somewhat clean. Yes, 10 out of 10 seats they had in the trunk of a van were dirty (food stains, vomit etc.). The car i got (Audi A4) was dirty too. Back seats has dried fruit, paper and crumbs everywhere. Great!

Finally we got to the day of delivery. I went out to the new drop-off area which is a bit far away from the terminal. Obviously this is not Eurocar Denmark's fault, however, it is still very inconvenient. Especially, when you are there 7am, have loads of luggage, and infant under the arm, and its freezing (they had not informed me about the process when collecting the car wither). Also, Eurocar had done nothing to help their ''valued'' customers e.g. not put up any signs, number etc informing you where to drop off the keys, if they need to inspect it, if you have to drop off the car seat etc. By chance i saw one guy walking around looking as frustrated as I was so i asked him if he had dropped of his car as well and knew what to do with the keys. He told me that he had been trying to figure out the same and now trying his luck down at the counter where we has collected the key the first day which turned out to be correct.

So i put in all the luggage in the trunk again, put on the infant strap and started walking. To my surprise the counter was closed when i got there and they had not mailbox, pigeonhole or similar to drop the keys or anything. So i went to one of the other car rentals and asked if they could help. Fortunately, they knew that to do; ''just go there and knock really hard on the door and then there would be someone coming out to help''......?Anyway, I went there, knocked and sure enough, a guy came out. I quickly explained him all the above in 20 sec. as i was not in the mood to stick around. To my surprise (again) I simply got the following reply: '' this is our standard customer policy''. Pathetic I thought to myself and left!

Conclusion. Will not use these guys ever again and would not recommend them to anyone in future - not even my worst enemies.
