The team was excellent and considered my time limitations for the School run. The service was completed quickly.

My daughter and I went to pick her used car which should have been ready at 13:00 we arrived at 14:30 only to find car still in workshop having brakes adjusted. It had not been valeted so we had to wait for this to be done which was done in a rush by which time it was dark so we were unable to inspect it very well. The hand over took more than 3 hours, over 4 hours if we had arrived at the arranged time. We found this very poor the car should have been ready on the forecourt for us to check over when we arrived in daylight. Because of the poor hand over the journey home was at rush hour not a good experience at all

Appalling service. No interest in after sales. Had faults on a car bought from EH, Hull, that should have been sorted before picking car up, told any EH could rectify the faults. However these guys at EH, York Citroen, just washed their hands of it. They tried claiming on my warranty, which they shouldn't have and the faults got turned down. This should have been rectified regardless of warranty. Makes a mockery of their 123 point check as these faults should have been picked up. Wasted 4 weeks as Rowan never communicated what was happening. I had to go in to find out anything, and not interested in finding a solution. So still have no DAB radio and exposed wiring loom in the door.

Good communication and service but expensive! Over £450 for rear break pads and discs on MOT failure

This would be a 0 if it was an option. Purchased a second hand 2015 Hyundai iX35 for £4800 from Evans Halshaw Citroen, York on 12/01/26.
I went to view the vehicle and was told by the sales advisor, Joe, that the vehicle had undergone a stringent 122 point pre sale check. The vehicle has some age related bodywork marks, to be expected for a 10 year old car, but otherwise appeared in good mechanical condition. Had been fitted with some new tyres and overall was well presented.
Joe stated the vehicle would be sold with a 3 month warranty however he did stipulate that for warranty repairs it would have to come back to the same dealership in York which unfortunately is a 3 hour round trip for us, with other Evans Halshaw branches much more local to us.
Test drove the vehicle on some very flat York roads near to the dealership and all appeared in order. Deal done and old car part exchanged. Return journey then made, mostly motorway with no issues until going to park it on our inclined driveway where the vehicle rolled when handbrake applied. Initially I put this down to possibly poor application of the handbrake and driver error.
The following day, whilst unloading children at school, the car again rolled on a simple drop kerb with a toddler still in the vehicle. My husband suspected that the handbrake cable may need tightening, a minor job which was not worth a 3 hour round trip and I arranged for a local, trusted garage to take a look the following day.
I went to leave home the following day and on engaging the clutch, the car rolled again with the handbrake still fully applied. Luckily, there was no one stood behind the car as this would have crushed them between the car and the wall. The car was taken to local garage who identified the shoes on the handbrake were completely worn and that this had been an advisory on the MOT 18 months prior. They stated there was evidence to suggest that someone had been into the mechanism previously to bodge the job in order to pass a MOT and that it now required a new cable to be safe to be on the road. Advised that in its current condition it would be an MOT fail, and something which should have been identified on a pre sale inspection by the dealership.
I attempted to contact Evans Halshaw, Citroen and left messages with customer service staff who stated the relevant people would get back to me. By the time my call was returned several hours had passed and I had already instructed the local garage to conduct the works as I would have been otherwise left without a vehicle and I wasn’t willing to have my children in a vehicle with a faulty handbrake. The works were completed at the cost of £120.
When I informed Evans Halshaw of the action I had taken due to their delay in getting back to me, I was told they would not reimburse the costs and that the vehicle should have been taken to one of their local branches, different from what I was initially advised on the test drive. But also something I was not comfortable in doing given the vehicle was in a dangerous condition.
This vehicle was sold in an unroadworthy and dangerous condition which would have failed an MOT even though it was supposed to have been put through a 122 point check prior to sale. Evans Halshaw appear to want to bury their heads in the sand and ignore my complaint in order to not acknowledge that they sold a vehicle in a dangerous condition or to reimburse the costs. I expected better from a company the size of theirs. I would be very wary of their lack of aftercare if you are considering buying a vehicle from them, regardless of it being a new or second hand vehicle. I have contacted them several times since to attempt to bring this to a conclusion however the staff who are able to make a decision have not got back to me.

I strongly warn anyone considering buying a car with an Evans Halshaw Premium Guarantee.
My vehicle had a clearly diagnosed electrical boot system failure (“Electrics faulty – requires both boot struts and wiring loom”) — an issue that falls directly under their listed covered electrical components.
Yet the warranty team refused the claim without any justification and could not point to a single exclusion clause. This is extremely concerning and feels like a deliberate attempt to avoid honouring the warranty customers paid for.
This behaviour damages trust and shows a serious lack of accountability.
I hope senior management addresses this, because customers should not be misled by a “Premium Guarantee” that does not function when needed.

Kerry who looked after me was friendly, courteous and very helpful from the moment I arrived to drop my car off. The video link the engineer send was really clear and this was good to see. Kerry was prompt at handing my car back and taking back the courtesy car. She has since rung me to see if everything is ok with the car since servicing.
