I have been a Ford owner for over 40 years, including vehicles such as a much-loved Escort RS1800 and Capri 3.0 litre, and another notable addition was my XR 4x4, so it is particularly disappointing to write this.
In truth, the poor experience started at the very beginning when I was looking to order a Ford Galaxy Titanium. The level of engagement and interest shown by Evans Halshaw was disappointing, and it ultimately led me to place the order elsewhere with Chris Allen Ford in Poulton, Blackpool, who clearly valued the business. At the time, I put it down to poor customer handling, but in hindsight it should have been a warning of things to come.
Unfortunately, my subsequent experience with Evans Halshaw has been consistently poor.
This was not an isolated incident. On more than one occasion, pre-booked servicing work was either not carried out or delayed, with responsibility attributed to Motability authorisation. Whilst I understand that authorisation processes exist, this should not result in repeated failure to deliver booked work or leave customers uncertain as to whether their vehicle will be serviced as planned.
The most recent issue involved a fault with the rear seat. The vehicle attended for inspection, the problem was identified, and parts were ordered. A subsequent appointment was then booked specifically to complete the repair.
Despite this, the vehicle was retained for the full day without completion, and no proactive communication was provided at any stage. I was required to repeatedly attempt contact with the service department simply to establish what was happening.
Most concerning was that at approximately 5pm I was advised the vehicle would not be ready and no courtesy vehicle or alternative transport could be provided. As this is a Motability vehicle used to support my daughter, who has complex health needs, this left us without essential transport at very short notice, including ahead of an urgent MRI appointment the following day.
While the repair was eventually completed and the vehicle returned, the issue here is not the fault itself but how it was handled. A lack of communication, poor planning, and no contingency for a Motability customer resulted in unnecessary stress and disruption.
Motability vehicles are not a convenience — they are a necessity. This experience demonstrated a failure to recognise that responsibility.
Regrettably, this has led me to lose confidence not only in Evans Halshaw but also in the Ford brand, which is particularly disappointing given my long history of ownership. Based on this experience, I would have reservations about considering Ford vehicles again in the future.

Do NOT buy a van from Evans Halshaw Preston Commercial.
I purchased an MS-RT Transit Custom that was supposedly “valeted” before collection—this was completely untrue. The van was filthy, clearly hadn’t been cleaned, and even still had the previous owner’s stickers on the rear. Absolutely unacceptable for a main dealer.
To make matters worse, within just TWO DAYS the van developed a gearbox fault, badly juddering at low RPM (automatic). I then had to waste my own time and money travelling to Glasgow and back just to get it diagnosed—only to be told the gearbox was faulty.
I contacted the Preston branch and spoke to the manager, Sam. His attitude was arrogant and dismissive from the start. Despite the condition of the van and the fault appearing almost immediately, he tried to tell me I had no choice but to let them repair it. No accountability, no apology—just poor customer service and a complete lack of respect.
After speaking to another branch who confirmed I had every right to reject the vehicle, I called him back. Funny how his tone changed after that. Ten minutes later, he called to say they would “buy the van back” because they weren’t willing to pay for a new gearbox.
That says it all.
Even after returning the van, I was told my money would be back in my account as soon as they received it. That didn’t happen. Days passed—Thursday, Friday, then Monday—with no refund. I had to chase them myself, while being left without a van and out of pocket. Only then did they finally sort it.
From start to finish this was a complete mess—poor vehicle preparation, a serious mechanical fault within days, unprofessional management, and delays getting my money back.
I will never deal with them again and would strongly advise anyone else to avoid.

Cannot fault, engine warning light at most inconvenient time, called Service desk and they were booked for a few weeks, explained I’m stuck without it ( multiple reasons) said they would try and get it fixed asap, Diamonds managed to get it sorted within a couple of days. As usual great service.

Disgusting company.Tried to buy a brand new van advertised on Autotrader.Price ended up being £3500 more than advertised due to not being vat registered even though I was paying the vat in full. The advert stated it had a heated steering wheel. It did not.Advert said 5 free services."Sorry sir that offer has ended",even though it's still in the advert. After finally doing a deal and being told the van would be ready to collect in 5 days, they then rang me up to say that there was a recall on the tyres and they couldn't register the van because Ford wouldn't let them.Left it a week and a half to be still told that they didn't know when they could register my van.Got so fed up waiting and paying for a hire van(which there was no offer to pay for) that I cancelled the order.I now take delivery of a Ford transit on Thursday saving £5000 in the process.
If you want to be lied to and have no customer service then use Evans Halshaw Van Centre Preston.Avoid like the plague.

Lost 2 days from work because of a recall that should be at no cost, called me back to tell me I need a caliper to change my brake hoses at cost of 100 pound...Two days of lost work + 100 pounds... you do the math...

Evans Halshaw is comparably expensive, but the services (and all the trimmings) should be good because of that. When I booked my car in for an MOT they included a valet as part of the service, which I accepted. When I dropped my car off I mentioned that I'd left the some rubbish in a bag on my passenger seat as there was no bin on the way in to get rid of it.
Collected my car later that day and the rubbish bag I'd expected to be gotten rid of was belted in on my passenger side and the valet they'd done was terrible. The car was barely vacuumed and the dashboard hadn't been wiped down.
It's not the end of the world but it left a sour taste. I'll shop around next time as Evans Halshaw aren't worth what you pay.

I was recommended Evans Halshaw Preston as a good place for my Ford Fiesta to be serviced & MOT'd.
I can safely say I was not disappointed. Easy to book, a friendly and knowledgeable reception and top customer service throughout. The vehicle video health check is a fantastic feature and helps provide a good visual aid as to the condition of areas of your vehicle not normally seen.
Very pleased with the service received.

Thankyou very much for the usual excellent service when I took my car in for an MOT and oil change. Well looked after, lots of cups of coffee, very friendly staff, polite and keeping me up to date throughout my visit. Thanks to JD, Fay, Ryan, Ben, Charlotte and others that I apologise for forgetting the names of.
