I arranged to view a car with a member of staff at the Geldard Road showroom in Leeds on Monday late afternoon. On Tuesday morning I checked the website again and noticed that the car in question had gone up in price by £200. When I enquired as to why it had gone up, I received a very quick reply and was told that the market can go up and down and that the car had now been sold!!

Wendy from reception, kind and helpful. Mo, from servicing, who i came across by accident, understanding, and shocked by his colleague's behaviour. The young, loud, straight haired, bob cut, talking about me, quite openly to old blonde dyed receptionist. I'd informed her prior to service that front sensors had never worked and that the back wiper jammed. After servicing i mentioned both. Turns out I'd been lied about front sensors, there are non. As for wipers, she said they were fine, and as it is a motability vehicle they wouldn't repair unnecessarily! I videod it there and then, she said she'd be back, but left me in pain awaiting her return. That point i met mo, who totally saw and knew it needed dealing with. In the meantime, I opened door, and a large man with balding head actually shoulder barged me, purposely. All the males were bordering on assault. It seems they have a problem and are judgemental to motability car owners!!!! Never have i felt so belittled or bullied by an actual company. Never will I ever put my name to buying or leasing from this company.

Brought my car in for service.at 9am
Two people welcomed us straight away and pointed us to the right place. Amy looked after us, she was very helpful, cheerful, caring and had the coffee machine on ready for us.amy deserves 10/10. Amy had all paper work ready to go and promised to push for it to be finished as soon as possible for us,as we were waiting. You fulfilled the promise and the car was ready for 11. Car done. Cleaned and broken key sorted out and new key ordered. Very impressed with the service. I was disappointed I didn't get to see the pink docs though maybe next time.

AVOID! ILLEGAL MOT CERT..
Purchased a used tucson from them april this year. Paid in full for the vehicle no finance. Was told before I picked the car up it needed some rear bushes for the MOT as they was heavily corroded and dangerous ( got the job card from the workshop tech stating this ). Was then told these had been changed. Collected the car and after 2 weeks the automatic gearbox started juddering, took the car to my local MOT testing station for them to investigate the issue and have a look over the car and they told me it was a death trap and should never have been given an MOT! Pointed out to me the rear corroded bushes that was in urgent need of replacement along with heavily corroded brake pipes and corroded sub frame all of which I was told needed changing as are dangerous. I was told the car had had these changed and there was no mention of the corrosion. The garage issued it a clean MOT certificate knowing it had major defects. I was told by the testing station to report them for issuing a clean MOT on an un road worthy condition. I then contacted hyundai Leeds for them to sort these issues and they said these arent covered by used car warranty and it was 8 weeks before they could look at the car. Unacceptable when they sold a car not only not fit for purpose but dangerous. I then spoke to the salesman who said I could part ex the car against another so I did at a major cash loss. Mistake of mine as the new car I collected as soon as I drove it home had an issue where the fuel was leaking into the oil and the engine running rough. I was told to return the car to hyundai warrington after a load of messing around and they then collected it and took it to leeds after 4 weeks of no one looking at it.. I had only had the car for a week before it was back with them at the garage for another 6. They then told me they had fixed the car it needed spark plugs and a ppf regen this was the issue with the fuel into the engine oil.. I then collected the car from them and after 200 miles of driving the car was back running rough with over 2ltrs oil having to be drained to bring the oil level back to max and the engine running rough pretty much unable to drive. Ive attempted to get in contact with hyundai Leeds as the cat has been like this since I collected it and havent been able to fix the issue therefore sold me a car not as described or in a road worthy condition and they have ignored all my emails and are not returning phone calls. They want nothing to do with me. Absolutely horrible customer service and I warn anyone from buying a car from hyundai evans halshaw Leeds selling dangerous cars with dodgy MOT certificates.
UPDATE: Attempted to make contact by emailing the below email for evans halshaw as per the review reply to discuss these issues further and provide further information with images etc but have had no response.

Problem with car 4 months later (Oct 2024) and still no further forward. This is with Leeds branch.
Purchased an extended warranty and told I still have to pay almost £200.00 to check why heated seat not working.
I have been told by company to complain independently with the ADR, they are not interested in helping as manager has now left.
Typical attitude once a sale has gone through, after sales are rubbish they just don't want to know, the same as their complaints procedure. Pointless!

Let me tell you a story about a man who was very excited to buy his first car...
He was told to go to an official dealership so that he would avoid as many of the well known problems with buying a car as he could, and was advised that Hyundai were one of the more reliable car brands.
He came away with a £9.5k car that had only done 9500 miles and he felt great (ignoring the "only" rate of finance being 13.9% which is nearly double the rate you'd get somewhere like bigmotoringworld).
Three and a half months later, it broke down in a public multi-storey car park (so was unrecoverable by the breakdown cover they provide you with the warranty) having only done 700 miles, costing him a princely sum of £13.57 per mile driven. He would have been better off getting an Uber everywhere he drove that car (and that excludes my own petrol and insurance costs!)
When he phoned up to see if he could get it booked in for someone to look at it (in August), he was told that there were no appointments available until NOVEMBER and that he was better off going to a private garage.
Not to worry, that's why you get an extended warranty! At least then, you only have to deal with the inconvenience and they'll cover the cost of something like this happening. Sadly also not true....
Apparently one of the parts that broke wasn't covered by the warranty (which makes it even more alarming that the car was sold to him in this condition) and the response he received from the dealership was that "you are encouraged to read the warranty documents and they tell you what is and isn't covered". So if you do decide to buy a car from Evans Halshaw (he shouldn't have), and you decide you want the warranty (it's not worth the paper it's written on), then make sure you know every single part that goes into a Hyundai so that you can check to see whether it is in the list of covered items or not.
Another excellent feature of the warranty is that they dictate what the labour costs should be, based on what their internal labour costs are. These obviously differ from a private garage, but they won't reimburse you the full cost of the labour, despite the fact they don't have any realistic availability or interest in looking at your car themselves.
The service throughout this process was appalling. He got passed from pillar to post from person to person, none of whom were actually interested in helping him and were about as unhelpful as they could possibly be. He had to ask the warranty people three times how to raise a complaint, before they finally provided an email address.
He was then given some copy and paste waffle from the complaints team and told to go away (a special shout out to Anya for that one).
The only person who really seemed to care was the guy who sold me the car, but he didn't have the power to help.

The service I received last week was shocking! I had a valuation from the garage to return my hyundai i10 and clear my PCP finance. I had all the paperwork and the figure from the garage. After an hour in the showroom I was advised they wouldn't pay the figure they had quoted both in e-mail and verbally and the service was shocking, especially the attitude of one of the manager's who name I unfortunately didn't get. One of the sales people was really good though and did their best to help the situation. I was fuming as I had purchased a vehicle there, so did my mother-in-law and my husband came with me as he was interested in buying a brand new vehicle from them but after the service I received he said there was no way he would buy a vehicle from there.
