Very disappointing experience...
Very disappointing experience buying a Hyundai i20 online.
At the beginning everything seemed great. Kas was genuinely helpful, professional, and very responsive throughout the initial stage of the process. I was receiving regular calls and replies to emails within minutes, and he made the whole purchase feel smooth, transparent, and well handled. Based on that early experience, I had full confidence in the deal going ahead.
Unfortunately, things changed completely after delivery.
The car was originally advertised as having around 200 miles, but it arrived with over 6,500 miles. We agreed on a price adjustment with the dealer before delivery to reflect this. While the initial sales documents showed 200 miles, the final invoice was corrected; however, this still caused unnecessary confusion and inconvenience.
The vehicle was also damaged during transport arranged by the dealer. The front bumper was affected, and the repair has now been booked by the transport company. However, this situation should never have happened in the first place.
The condition of the car on arrival was completely unacceptable. Both the interior and exterior were extremely dirty. There were fingerprints everywhere, greasy surfaces, dirty upholstery, and the upholstery itself was visibly stained. The seats were dirty, plastic surfaces were greasy from touch, and overall it looked nothing like a newly purchased vehicle. The cup holders were sticky, clearly from something that had been spilled and never properly cleaned. In the glove compartment there was even a dirty used hairbrush left behind, which is completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, the dealer was fully aware that this car was meant to be a surprise gift for my wife for our 10th wedding anniversary. She was abroad visiting family, which gave me only a few days before her return flight to get everything ready. Instead of receiving a car in an acceptable condition, I had to spend that time urgently arranging cleaning just to make it presentable.
All of this was officially noted by the delivery driver in the transport documents at the time of handover. The driver himself commented on how shocked he was by the condition of the vehicle. He even mentioned that he initially thought the car had been returned from a repair, rather than being delivered as a newly purchased vehicle. This is simply not the condition in which a car should be sold.
The dealer agreed to cover the cost of cleaning, so I arranged and paid for a professional valeting service to bring the car to the standard it should have been delivered in. After sending the invoice, the dealer is now refusing to pay, claiming the cost is too high.
Communication has also significantly worsened. I have been waiting several days for a response regarding the invoice. Every time I call, I am told that the Sales Manager, Sean, is in a meeting and will call me back shortly. I called around 12pm yesterday and still have not received a call back.
To make matters even worse, I have been emailing Evans Halshaw’s Complaints Department for several months regarding these issues. On every occasion I have been assured that a manager would contact me to discuss the matter. Despite these repeated promises, no manager has ever contacted me. Numerous email exchanges have achieved absolutely nothing and appear to be little more than delay tactics designed to avoid resolving legitimate customer concerns.
As a result, I have now escalated this matter to the Motor Ombudsman for independent review. The fact that a customer can spend months chasing responses, only to be repeatedly promised callbacks that never happen, is simply unacceptable. This entire experience has left me with no confidence whatsoever in Evans Halshaw's customer service or complaints process.
Overall, this has been a very negative experience. What started as a smooth and professional purchase has turned into a frustrating and disappointing situation.
If you are planning to buy a car online, my personal advice would be this: do not accept the vehicle if it does not match the agreed condition or standard. You have the right to refuse delivery. Let the driver take it back and let the dealer deal with cleaning and repairs properly. The stress, time, and effort I have had to spend trying to resolve these issues simply has not been worth it.
I will never purchase another vehicle from Evans Halshaw and cannot recommend them based on my experience.

EMaC service contracts
I Have an EMaC service contract, which I've had for over 10 years for Evans Halshaw dealerships. Since moving back up north 12 months ago, I've used Evans Halshaw Hyundai Warrington for service and MOT. Every time they have let me down with either no hire vehicle available or the car has not been valeted after a service. These are part of the service plan contract which they don't seem to know of or just ignore it.
If no hire vehicle was available, then why not inform the customer, at least the day before, so that's its not a shock/disappointment on the day.
As for valeting the car, every other Evans Halshaw dealership I've used has carried out without any problems.
Unless they can sort these problems out I will not be returning to this dealership again.

Mechanic forgot to put 3 parts of engine back so dangerously leaked petrol & caused additional issues with car. Zero customer service. Service Manager that was brought in to sort things didn’t care & refused to come to phone. It took a month to get them to fix car & they fixed the new issues not the original issue. Drive additional miles & go to a different Hyundai garage if you need a specialist garage.

Matt the service advisor couldn’t have been more helpful booking in and at short notice helping me get my Tucson it’s three year/30k miles service. Also service advisor spoke to me about loaning me his PHEV Tuscon if he still has it as I want to see if the PHEV is better than the MHEV I’ve got now. Thanks guys. What a nice facility too. Recommended garage use these they can’t do enough to help you and make the visit painless was promised in and out in before 10am by 9.38am I was on the road again. Nothing felt rushed or too much trouble.

Not professional
Email stated loan car availability, but when I booked a service one month in advance I was told I couldn’t have one. Then when the car was ready it was not washed. The reason was there was a queue. I agreed to wait again while they washed it. When I finally got the car, they had ripped out the cable to my dash cam and it was left hanging in the driver footwell, even though they had unplugged the dashcam from the cigarette lighter socket.

Very disappointing , shop elsewhere
Purchased a used Audi A1 from Evan Halshaw Hyundai Warrington. Put a deposit on the vehicle and there were a couple of issues ( egg on a tyre and some stone chips) so agreed to pick it up in 7 days at 09-30 on a Saturday morning. On arrival at 09-30 the vehicle was not ready for collection. We were told the tyre had not turned up! and it needed a valet. At 11.00 and we eventually collected the vehicle but still no tyre. We were told to get a tyre and to send them the invoice. They let us drive away with a car that was unsafe! we did get paid for a new tyre after nearly another week. On getting the car home we noticed over spray on both drivers windows and the bonnet. So had to have the car detailed. I have purchased several vehicles from EH in the past privately and as a transport manager for our company have purchased multiple vehicles from EH. This was by far the worst experience i have ever had, from a hour and half hand over that should have take 20 mins to a dangerous tyre to a un valeted car the list list just goes on. This will be the last time i use EH for private or business use. Very disappointing and a sales man that was just wanted to sell warranty and not bothered about the product he was sending out. The car was for my wife and it should have been a happy day picking up her new car and it just left us both totally disappointed ! She wouldn't even drive it home because she was scared about the tyre.

Rubbish
I visited on Sunday 12th April to see if I could test drive a vehicle - I couldn't but this wasn't a problem as I hadn't booked a test drive.
So I booked a test drive for Sunday 19th April (booking was made on 12th April), received my confirmation email, and then received a text message 1 hour before the test drive to remind me to bring the necessary documents.
I arrived to be told that the car wasn't actually there, it was in Scotland and the test drive wasn't possible. Staff didn't appear too bothered by this and just said that they couldn't do anything about it. No apology offered, and a complete waste of a couple of hours of a very nice Sunday.
All around pretty rubbish, I won't be going back.

Was told lies over the phone booking my car in for a service a month prior, I was told I would have a courtesy car. Instead I was left in their showroom for over 2 hours waiting for my car service.
This isn't acceptable and this has been reported to complaints department.
