Okay but much of the equipment is out of order
The gym I was a member at was okay, the staff and the gym members were friendly, but…
The price of membership kept going up year on year, even though the equipment was always out of order.
I left at the end of February after 3years as a member.
Poor customer experience
The issue that I have experienced was: My wife and I both joined
Everlast St Helens on a one‑year contract, with all payments coming
from my account. When our contracts ended in May 2025, we decided to
cancel my wife’s membership because she rarely used the gym. That
should have been a simple request but, it turned into nearly a year of
frustration.
Despite multiple follow‑ups, her direct debit continued to be taken
until November 2025, six months after the contract ended. When I
raised this with Jack, he assured me a refund would be issued. That
refund never arrived. The lack of honesty and accountability left us
deeply disappointed.
Because of this experience, I decided to cancel my own membership as
well. I initiated the process in October 2025, yet my direct debit
continued for another four months. It only stopped when I personally
deleted the mandate from my banking app in February 2026, something I
should never have had to do.
During this period, I sent countless emails and made several phone
calls. Each time, I was promised a refund but nothing ever happened.
The complete lack of responsiveness made us feel ignored and
disrespected as paying members.
And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, on 20th March
2026, my wife received a call from the gym demanding payment for a
“missed” instalments, despite her membership having ended almost a
year earlier and despite the gym already taking payments long after
her contract expired.
This entire experience has been exhausting, stressful, and deeply
disappointing. No customer should be treated this way, especially
after trying countless times to resolve issues politely and through
the proper channels.

Update on previous review...
I had been meaning to upgrade the score recently but today just confirmed that the staff at Birstall have zero customer loyalty.
Having trained with my friends, in a group of 3, for over 5 years on the same day and time 3 days a week, theyve decided to rent the only space, that we can use, out to someone else for £25.
We each pay membership and have done for years. No consultation. Nothing. Told we can only share the space if we pay half towards it.
Well... suffice to say, on top of all the previous problems I highlighted in a previous review, this was the final straw.
Cancelled my membership and wont be paying anything they think I owe because, as far as im concerned, theyve breached their contract with me.
So in the words of one of my favourite content creators...
GFSF.
I was a long standing member of Roko in…
I was a long standing member of Roko in Chiswick - Everlast took over the gym last year 2025 and then in January 2026 closed the gym for refurbishment. They have changed what the gym has to offer. It is now a 'lifters' gym with Hyrox and Reformer pilates you have to pay extra for. The yoga, pilates and many studio based 'well-being' classes that Roko had in abundance is now gone. There are very very few classes now that are in this genre because there is only one studio out of three left to accommodate spin classes, and other floor based studio classes. We are being told to lump it - you can do HITT instead - in the new black floored, black ceiling, black walled windowless studio with LED lights. We are being told that everything has changed for the better which is not true if you are a middle aged woman who likes exercise classes - we are just not catered for anymore - you can't get onto the 1 or 2 classes a week now offered, as supply no longer meets demand. When the gym reopened and I went in to take a look and could instantly see with my own eyes and also from the new timetable that this was not a gym i would ever be a member of I told Everlast to cancel my membership. To add insult to injury they have charged me a membership fee of a month (saying they are being nice and not charging me 3 months) in order to leave a gym I never joined in the first place. I would strongly recommend you stay a million miles away from Everlast Chiswick. If you don't like it you can lump it and they will charge you for the privilege. Everlast Chiswick is a blacked-out, Hyrox, weights gym - if you're a 'lifter' you will like the changes possibly but there are now higher membership fees. For the rest of us women and men who like 'wellness' classes, easy circuits, a light and bright space, nice cafe, you need to find a new Gym Home.
Access to gym kit and parking terrible
Lovely friendly staff. A big influx of new members at Christmas, throughout Jan to Mar, you can’t park and you can’t get access to equipment as too many members in the gym at the same time
I would not recommend this gym based on everything
I would not recommend this gym based on my experience.
The customer service has been extremely disappointing. I have been trying for the past two months to resolve an issue regarding a refund after my membership expired, and it has taken that long just to reach the point where someone is willing to discuss the matter.
I was never notified that the gym had closed or that it had reopened. Because of this, I reasonably assumed that my membership would not continue to be charged. When I initially tried to contact them, I used the email address provided on their website, which unfortunately did not work. Despite this, the gym has claimed that the mistake was mine and has refused to take responsibility.
As a result, a considerable amount of my time has been wasted, and I have now been told that they will not be issuing a refund for money that I believe I should not have been charged in the first place.
In addition to the customer service issues, the gym itself is not particularly well maintained. Much of the equipment is old, and since two gyms appear to have been merged into one, it becomes extremely busy. During peak times you can spend a large portion of your workout simply waiting for equipment to become available.
I also had an unpleasant interaction with one member of staff who came across as quite rude and behaved as though they were doing me a favour by speaking with me.
Although I tried to overlook that incident at the time, it contributed to the overall negative experience.
Overall, this has been the worst gym experience I have had.
I would not recommend it to others and would suggest considering alternative gyms if you are looking for better equipment and more reliable customer service.
Great Pilates class
Great gym
I have no issues what so ever with Mulvany Everlast.
The staff are very friendly and courteous. I have just got back from the gym and all the equipment bar 2 were working ! It has air conditioning which is a big plus. It was clean and has a nice welcoming feel about it. No issues with the female changing rooms and toilets they were clean. I go swimming regular, nice big pool better than most I have been to.
Lots of gyms have equipment not working !! I wouldn't like to know how many steps they do a week.
Well done Everlast I love you.
Pros
Pros: Lots of open space and well lit. Lots of barbells, dumbbells and plates.
Cons: Missing/broken equipment. Kettlebells and harnesses go missing and are never replaced. Seated row machine has had an 'out-of-order' sign on it for over a year! Concept 2 rowers are very ratchety and have low batteries. They rarely get serviced. Many pulleys have missing stack pins. This means you have borrow them from other pulleys. If the gym is busy, this is not an option. People end up waiting, not for a free pulldown machine but for a pin to put in the weight stack. All these issues have been reported, but they don't get fixed. Gym managers, of which there is a high turnover, say that they pass the complaints up the chain but that nothing gets done. Worse still, Everlast try to lock you into a 12-month contract even though they are the ones in breach on contract by failing to maintain the facilities!
Terrible unproffesional staff who do…
Terrible unproffesional staff who do nothing for peoples confidence. If you leave the gym in a worse place than when you entered there is somethng fundamentally wrong with recruitment and training.
Disgusting company run by a fat money…
Disgusting company run by a fat money grabbing person, Mike Ashleigh. Don't waste your money, find a proper gym where the PT's care, the staff are pleasant and you know you are not being fleeced. Hope the Chiswick gym loses membership and money.
Chiswick Everlast - Horrible
The 'elevation' at Chiswick has involved painting everything black, blocking out all the windows, and cancelling almost all the classes that most of the female clients (and that was a lot of the membership) went to. The studios are dark, depressing, with weird coloured lights and thumping music. All induces a headache. And if you dont want to do boxing or 'hyrox', tough. Classes that arent those are booked out in an instant. Except for 'reformer pilates', which you have to upgrade your membership for. I presume that the appalling Mike Ashley of Sports Direct zero hours contract fame knows what he's doing, but it seems odd to me to make somewhere that was light and welcoming with an interesting range of classes into something that much of the demographic don't want.
I recently returned after a long break…
I recently returned after a long break and found that the equipment has not been updated since 2018 and is now worn out. The shower facilities are in extremely poor condition, with visible mould, which is unacceptable from a hygiene perspective.
I was paying £37 per month — a price that doesn’t match any of their current membership packages — and yet I wasn’t allowed to bring a friend. For the fee charged, the quality of the facilities and overall service simply do not justify the cost.
Would not recommend.
So I joined a gym.
Read a few of the reviews and was a bit sceptical about joining? But after using the option of a free day pass I was more than happy with the facilities provided and the helpfulness of all the staff. Happy enough to take out a membership and still nothing to complain about.
I would like to say that this gym is…
I would like to say that this gym is the best in the city, as they claim — but unfortunately, it is not. In fact, it is one of the worse ones.
I am not even referring to the equipment, although more and more often there are broken machines. What I am mainly referring to is the dirt and lack of cleanliness. This gym is simply extremely dirty.
The machines are dirty, there is dust underneath almost all of them, and the toilets are disgustingly filthy — as if they haven’t been cleaned for at least a year. In the men’s restroom, there are often shaving hairs left in the sinks, and recently there was even some blood. It stayed like that for three days and no one bothered to clean it. That is unacceptable and extremely unhygienic.
There are cleaning companies available — perhaps it would be worth hiring one to maintain a proper standard of hygiene.
The only positive thing about this gym is the staff. They are friendly and always helpful.
However, if the owner does nothing to improve hygiene standards, people will unfortunately start leaving. There are many other clean gyms available where members can exercise without worrying about getting a rash due to the level of dirt.
I hope my review encourages the management to take responsibility and improve the cleanliness of the facility.
Excellent gym
Excellent gym, everything is clean and tidy. I wish in the future if you add a dedicated lateral raises machine.
Not the greatest by a large margin
The layout of the gym is good and the staff are friendly, thought that's all for the good points. The equipment is tired and regularly brakes, with very slow repair time. There seems to be a general lack care for upkeep of equipment with simple things like batteries in displays not addressed for months on end. There's a smell of urinine that comes and goes in the changing rooms with toilets vaguely bearable. Showers aren't great with seemingly one temperature setting, shower curtains have seen better days. Overall, for the price per month, there better offerings elsewhere for just a little more which are well worth a consideration. Definitely a try before you buy experience.
Would check these reviews before you…
Would check these reviews before you join. Apart from random 5*s they reflect the poor equipment state, lack of cleanliness etc. All true since everlast bought. Yet the price increase is large.
York gym as no option for York in the drop-down below 👇
Falling apart
-Gym equipment is falling apart.
-been told multiple times the steam room will be fixed soon and I’ve been waiting 2 months.
-No air conditioning
-Not enough equipment if you go from 3pm-8pm as it’s far too busy.
- Only 3 showers out of the 7 Working and even then it’s freezing or boiling for the 4 second it’s on before constantly having to push the button.
Been a member here for 10 years and it is definitely at its worst and not worth the money anymore.
Absolute Hell Hole
I used to work for everlast gym Parkgate and they let me go because quote "I came into work drunk" which is a load of crap because I didn't come into work drunk at all they were trying to get rid of me since day one the manager is an absolute cow and the PTs *personal trainers* constantly look down on you cause of your supposed title and their customer care is an absolute shambles too I say good riddance to that hell hole
