Awful Don't Use
Terrible customer service, truly awful - can't speak to anyone, it all goes through chat with long waits, where the wait time goes up and down continually. At one point my wait time was sat at 0 minutes for 15 minutes and then jumped back up to 10 minutes! Even worse, it then it just cuts you off all of a sudden and you have to go through it all again. Hours and hours have been spent with their impossible system, it's just not worth booking with them.
I am disgusted with Expedia
I am disgusted with Expedia. I booked a hotel for three nights through them. I realised as soon as I booked that I had put the wrong month. I tried to change the date but after a week of them saying they were trying to change it I was told that they couldn’t change it because they couldn’t get hold of the hotel which was a lie because the Hotel said they had rung 3 times and were waiting for Expedia to email them. Instead of losing my money I am keeping my booking and have booked another hotel directly. I will never use Expedia again. They are a terrible company.
Crap virtual customer service
Having had my flight cancelled twice this recently in Dubai
Poor Travel Support
This company is utterly the worst travel agent I've ever had experience with. My son is currently stranded in Dubai and there is zero support or guidance from ANYBODY at Expedia. Their Customer Support number is dead (020 3788 0445 for the record) and online support have no idea what's going on. Shame on this company. When this chaos is all over, anyone looking at Trustpilot reviews for Expedia would be crazy to ignore the 1 star overall review from nearly 6000 other users. There's a reason they're been awarded such a universally shabby score. How are they associated with ATOL?
No way to contact customer support
I made a booking at an apartment. The host told me to cancel it. Trying to get in touch with Expedia, there is no way to contact them. This must be a joke!
Charged after cancelling a booking
For a fully refundable booking. I cancelled way before the cancellation deadline and while the booking was no longer existent on my internary I was still charged by the hotel. Expedia apparently tried to reach them(via phone and email). I did not get a refund.
As a consolation prize I was offered the value of the charge in one key cash. Such a disservice.
Like we'll give you a discount on your next spend with us.
Utter disappointed and wouldn't recommend.
No help when I needed them.
I was stranded in Seoul because of flight cancellations. Couldn’t get through to Expedia and had to sort my own rebooking so that I could get home. I then spent hours on the live chat trying to arrange a refund. Despite having a cancellation certificate from the airline, Expedia delayed the process. I will never use them again, they weren’t there when I needed them. I’d give zero stars if I could.
EXPEDIA SUPPORTS TRAVELERS BEING STRANDED
Expedia knows that the Hotel Amager cancels confirmed reservations at the last minute for no legitimate reason. EXPEDIA REFUSE TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THIS ESTABLISHMENT THAT OPERATES MORE LIKE A KNOCKING SHOP THAN AN HOTEL.
SEVEN flight payment requests on my credit card
I'm a 'Gold' member and Expedia are usually my first choice. Not any longer. Last night, I tried to book a flight + hotel package; after entering my card details and clicking Submit, I got an error saying there was a problem with my payment. Further down it said "try with a different payment option or contact your bank". I thought I'd perhaps entered something incorrecty, despite it auto-popuating most of the fields and tried again. I also tried manually entering the details. I cleared cache and tried again. I went back to the beginning and started my entire selection again. At some point I called my bank, who confirmed there was nothing wrong with my card and said there was an issue on Expedia's side. I waited a bit and tried again. And again. Repeating the above re manual details, clear cache, start from scratch etc. Yes it's the definition of insanity, but I thought it was a glitch on the Expedia site that might miraculously get fixed. I didn't want to use Klarna. Then I got a text saying my credit card had reached its limit. I logged on to my card account and saw SEVEN pending entries to British Airways. No pending entries for the hotel element though. My bank can't do anything. British Airways can't do anything other than confirm that we don't have a flight booked and say the payment entries should drop off tonight. I finally got through to someone at Expedia on the phone, just now, and got told it'll drop after 3-5 days! In the meantime, my credit card is maxed out with more than £5000 of non-booked flight payments. At no point did the Expedia page say what the problem was or warn that they had successfully sent a payment to my bank for the flight element that may get held as Pending for 3-5 days. Even though they cancelled those transactions when 'something' failed, the payments still get held as Pending and count against your credit limit. Now, coming to the reviews, I see someone else had a similar issue two days ago. Beware if you see that error message and do NOT try again. I shall certainly think twice before booking anything via Expedia again as this would have been avoidable if they'd mentioned the Pending element even for failed payments or actually told me WHAT the issue with the payment was. As I said, my bank confirmed there was no issue with my card.
Awful experience with Expedia over a…
Awful experience with Expedia over a (by mistake) double hotel booking at the Ibis, Chia, Colombia. The hotel were prepared to cancel the booking with a full refund but Expedia refused to acknowledge this. I had almost identical responses from six different Expedia people each of which didn't have a clue what they were doing. After many years using Expedia, I will never use them again. Completely useless entity. Despite their total incompetence Expedia did eventually agree to refund me the money but only after I personally went to the Ibis Chia and agreed with Ibis Chia to refund the double booking. Expedia were just content to sit there and do nothing. Based on my experience, Expedia well deserve their poor rating on Trustpilot.

Customer service is pretty much non existent and not that easy to actually speak to someone.
My wait time in the queue has been 0 mins for over an hour now. Why don't you just be honest or get a new system that calculates it correctly.
And telling me I only have 1 minute to update the chat is just ridiculous. It has closed on me twice already without giving me a chance to answer. Very poor service indeed.
I have absolutely no confidence they are going to be able to resolve my issue or provide me with a refund going on other reviews on here. Which is very disappointing....
I have tried to book a simple flight…
I have tried to book a simple flight and hotel deal, and the website keeps having issue with my payment, at least that's what it says, and yet they are still able to access my bank account and remove nearly £500 .... TWICE.
If there is a payment issue, how are they able to access my money / account??
There is a 206 hour wait to be able to call an agent to get this sorted according to their website.
The bots are telling me its because the Hotel is booked up, but this is incorrect as I am able to book the exact room directly from the hotel.
Again this entire process has now happened twice.
Absolute disgrace.
I am now down around £900, with no holiday or flights booked and being told I will just have to wait 5 days for the money to be returned.
I chose to book through Expedia, thinking they were a long standing, reputable company.....lesson learnt. I will not be using them in the future.
AVOID- NOT HELPFUL IF PROBLEMS
AVOID- flight cancelled/delayed because of Iran problems- refused to help change Hotel arrival dates, refused to offer Goodwill Gesture if late arrival, refused to help in any way, no credit note, no keep PAID FOR room open for delayed arrival. refused to help. said ask Hotel- Hotel says up to Expedia back and forth- Human YO-YO Qatar Airline offered full refund or free date change. Hotel zing resort and spa with Expedia refused to help in anyway. Book with someone else- as lots of problems in the World..KARMA.
I am apparently their top tier…
I am apparently their top tier customer, Diamond level, and I find their online customer service system unacceptable.
It is rubbish.
Unauthorised Use of Credit Card
The Hotel that I booked with Expedia claimed they reurned the hold charge of £800 even though I did not end up staying there. This did not arrive back in my account and Expedia were the only ones I gave my card details to. Made a complaint but no response. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA!

I just been burnt by this company i cant get a refund on a cancleation, avoid these gansters
Don't use this bunch of con artists
Useless and. Booked with them. They are more expensive than booking direct. Sea view was a glimpse of the sea through car park. Never use these idiots again
VERY BAD
VERY BAD, wish I read the reviews before. I have tried to alter my flight 8 or 9 times, keeps a failing. They basically have no customer service, take your money and run. Never again, deleting my account
Worst company ever. AVOID EXPEDIA!!!!
AVOID EXPEDIA!!!!! If I could give minus stars I would. I booked an accommodation through Expedia. The vendor did not give address. I contacted several times no luck. The day of my trip I was stressed and calling Expedia for address. They asked me to contact the vendor directly. Bombshell by vendor - booking not confirmed as their current guest extended their stay and was refusing to check out. Therefore they couldn't fulfil my booking. I contacted Expedia for a refund and they refused because it was a non-refundable booking and that the vendor said they could get me another option which the vendor never said. I sent multiple screenshots to them of my chat with the vendor. This was back in December and I have still not been refunded my £1268. I have contacted Financial Ombudsman. Avoid Expedia at all costs!!! All they want is your money. Zero customer service and they hang up on you when you call, pretending they don't understand what you're saying on the phone. Emails don't get responded to as well. This was my first time using them and never again. Never had this issue with other sites.
WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!
Expedia advertised £41 – actual cost was over $100. Their explanation is contradictory.
I booked a car rental on Expedia for £41. At the Avis counter, I was asked to sign what I was told was “standard rental paperwork.” I was not informed that I was agreeing to a higher price or any additional mandatory charges. The document was long legal text that is impossible to properly review at a busy counter, and there was no clear explanation that the price had changed.
After returning the car, I was charged over $100, with Expedia paying only £41 and Avis charging me the difference.
Expedia’s response is contradictory and misleading. They claim:
• this was a “split booking” (meaning Expedia only charges the base price), and
• that “additional fees may apply” and were in the rental agreement.
This is not transparency — this is hiding the real price behind fine print and legal wording. If the actual mandatory cost of the rental is over $100, that should be shown upfront on Expedia, not advertised as £41 and then corrected after the fact.
The only additional charge I knowingly agreed to was $8.99 for roadside assistance, which Avis clearly explained as optional. No other mandatory fees were explained at pickup.
This feels like a bait-and-switch pricing model: advertise a low price online, then rely on rental desk paperwork and legal fine print to justify charging much more later.
I will not use Expedia again and strongly recommend others avoid booking car rentals through them unless you want pricing surprises at the counter.
