Expedia Price Guarantee

We all like to get value for money, and there's nothing worse than booking a Hotel or a Flight + Hotel (when booked together) and then finding it cheaper elsewhere, so we've come up with the following guarantee:

We all like to get value for money, and there's nothing worse than booking a Hotel or a Flight + Hotel (when booked together) and then finding it cheaper elsewhere, so we've come up with the following guarantee:
Hotel Only Bookings: If you book and pay for a hotel room on Expedia.co.uk and later find a lower rate for your hotel room on our site or another site just let us know and we'll refund the difference to you. It's that easy. For hotel bookings, unlike some other sites, we don't just give you 24 hours from the date you book your hotel - if you find a lower price, anytime, right up to the hotel's free cancellation deadline just let us know and we'll match the price. So it doesn't matter if you find a lower price 3 hours after you book or 3 months after, our Hotel Price Match Guarantee still applies. Of course, the lower price you find needs to be like for like - the same hotel, dates, length of stay, rate plan, room type, and include all taxes and fees - but it really is that simple. Flight + Hotel Bookings (when booked together): If you book and pay for a Flight + Hotel (at the same time) on Expedia.co.uk and WITHIN 48 HOURS find a lower rate for your Flight + Hotel combination on our site or another site just let us know and we'll refund the difference to you. It's that easy. Of course, the lower price you find needs to be like for like - the same dates, flight number, flight times, length of stay, hotel, room type and rate plan and include all taxes and fees - but it really is that simple. http://www.expedia.co.uk/daily/price-guarantee/default.aspx

Expedia advertised £41 – actual cost was over $100. Their explanation is contradictory.

I booked a car rental on Expedia for £41. At the Avis counter, I was asked to sign what I was told was “standard rental paperwork.” I was not informed that I was agreeing to a higher price or any additional mandatory charges. The document was long legal text that is impossible to properly review at a busy counter, and there was no clear explanation that the price had changed.

After returning the car, I was charged over $100, with Expedia paying only £41 and Avis charging me the difference.

Expedia’s response is contradictory and misleading. They claim:
• this was a “split booking” (meaning Expedia only charges the base price), and
• that “additional fees may apply” and were in the rental agreement.

This is not transparency — this is hiding the real price behind fine print and legal wording. If the actual mandatory cost of the rental is over $100, that should be shown upfront on Expedia, not advertised as £41 and then corrected after the fact.

The only additional charge I knowingly agreed to was $8.99 for roadside assistance, which Avis clearly explained as optional. No other mandatory fees were explained at pickup.

This feels like a bait-and-switch pricing model: advertise a low price online, then rely on rental desk paperwork and legal fine print to justify charging much more later.

I will not use Expedia again and strongly recommend others avoid booking car rentals through them unless you want pricing surprises at the counter.

Honourable company, simple.

We booked Holiday inn express in birmingham thru expedia.

They emailed me while we were at hotel to ask how it was going.

IT WAS HORRENDOUS.

Rubiish and dog mess everywhere around the property and outside property.

Rats on property.

Food was disgusting. Holiday inn refused to give any refund despite us taking most of the food back to reception.

Beds were just awful.

Bathroom was gross. Dirt and stains on tiles and grouting on floor.

Expedia contacted hotel 3 times asking them to address issues with me, they refused.

Expedia actually gave me a 25 £ goodwill gesture / refund. That was amazing i thought. Real recognition of the issues we had. They didnt have to as they were not the problem.

Avoid holiday inn express thru expedia.

Thanku expedia, we will book with u again.

Will never book through Expedia again

Absolutely awful experience with Expedia. We booked through them for part of our American tour. When our flight from Colorado to New York was delayed by 7 hours overnight, we contact Expedia and asked them to notify the NY Hotel, but they failed to do so.
When we finally arrived in New York and went to check in to the hotel at 8.30am, as they had not heard from Expedia, they had marked us as a "no-show", taken payment from our credit card and cancelled the rest of our hotel stay (we were staying with them for 5 nights and it was our HONEYMOON!) Luckily, after a lot of discussion with the hotel manager, we managed to make other arrangements, but even the hotel said that they always have problems with Expedia not communicating to them. Will never book through them again!!

Expedia Scam - changing dates and cancelling flights

Expedia’s booking system changed the dates of my package holiday from March to February and subsequently cancelled the flights with no explanation. As a result, I have been left out of pocket, as Expedia is refusing to take responsibility for refunding the money I was charged for the hotel.
Since this was booked as a package holiday, it should not be my responsibility to resolve these issues or to chase airlines and hotels individually. I have attempted to do so, but have received no response. Instead, I have spent countless hours on phone calls and virtual chats, only to be given conflicting information each time.
The level of customer service has been extremely disappointing and distressing. I have now raised a dispute with my bank to recover my money. This does not appear to be an isolated incident, as many other customers have reported experiencing similar issues.
Customers are left unprotected while Expedia retains their money. Be prepared for long hold times, no meaningful resolution, and the risk of being charged for a holiday you cannot attend due to a system error.

We booked a trip to Fiji with members…

We booked a trip to Fiji with members of our family who live in Australia.
Firstly I did make a typo with one of our travelers names but realised what I had done within 48 hours and contacted Expedia well within the timeframe to alter things. The Jetstar flight was amended immediately but despite many, many emails the return Qantas flight did not get changed until the day of our flight back to Australia. This caused myself a lot of stress on what should have been a holiday of a lifetime. I also ended up getting scammed and paying for a name change that I didn’t need to. I really think that Expedia should inform people that they have been hacked as my personal details had some how got to the scammers.
We also booked transfers from the airport to the hotel, according to the transport company there had been a glitch on the Expedia website and our transport had not gone through. We then had to get a taxi with a 13 month old baby who didn’t have a car seat, we had to pay cash and he didn’t do receipts.
I have how been promised by Expedia that the refund has been processed three times, guess what still waiting for it to go back into my account.
Honestly I would never book anything with them again their absolute total disregard for their customers is a joke, their loss as i book a lot of group travel and it won’t be through Expedia in the future

First time booking with Expedia

First time booking with Expedia - and the last. After booking flights they send an email with all the details except the most important thing, no mention of how or where i get the tickets. I wish I'd booked direct with the airline.

Not one ounce of customer service

Simply tried to log in to check my hotel booking & confirm that breakfast was included.
Log-in was convoluted, cumbersome & challenging.
Could only access a booking receipt, with no confirmation of breakfast. Tried the virtual assistant (jeez!!!), which asked me to confirm which booking I was enquiring about and then wouldn't let me communicate any further - pointless & useless.
The customer service number of 020 3788 0445 just presents an immediate automated telephone block, stating "the other person has hung up".
Clearly they just want customers money but no customer engagement. Not one ounce of real customer service. So guess what; customers won't ever engage with them in the future, as reflected in so many other customer reviews.
WILL NEVER USE THIS AWFUL INEFFICIENT AUTOMATED PROCESS-DRIVEN CUSTOMER-HOSTILE & IGNORANT COMPANY AGAIN.

Some of the WORST customer service we…

Some of the WORST customer service we have EVER received in over 45 years of flying. We spent over 5 hours on the phone trying to get them to update a flight with an emergency medical certificate. They Did not deal with us correctly and in the end we were so fortunate to get hold of a wonderful individual at the airline who sorted it out. Expedia was easy for booking but I suggest pay the extra and book directly with airline. When you need help Expedia are not the ones . Absolutely AWFUL.

hidden small prints when hire a car - no hire no refund!

hidden small prints when hire a car. Certain provider (enterprise/alamo/national) requests you to have a boarding pass at airport counter. This was not shown when I book the car rental. I was not able to rent the car and it was a complete waste of my time and there was no refund!

Waste of time and money

I would give zero stars if it was at all possible. We booked a package deal with them to travel from victoria BC to Orlando, hotel included. We paid for the more expensive tickets to avoid a long layover. The very next day, less than 24 hours after booking, we received an email to say the flights have been changed, now travelling a day earlier and needing to spend 10+ hours in Calgary. When we contacted them to change the flights, they said there were no flights that could get us to Orlando on the day we booked the hotel for and the hotel was non refundable. Make that make sense?! They book you a package deal with a hotel that matches flight times, then change your flights and still charge you for the hotel?! The most ridiculous service! Please avoid them and plan your own trips!! We have wasted so much of our time to try and rectify this situation!

Hotel booked through Expedia

Hotel booked through Expedia, confirmation email with booking reference received. Arrived at hotel to be told they had no record of our booking. Hotel rang Expedia Customer Relations department who said they could 'see' our booking on their system but that we (the customer) must ring the reservations department using the mobile number given in the original booking. Tried and failed to connect with the number given. Tried to contact customer relations ourselves on our mobile; call kept breaking up. Used Expedia's email/chat and had a response that we would get a reply within 48hrs; not useful when sat in the hotel reception surrounded by our suitcases, with no accommodation for the night. Expedia chat responded at 7.30pm (after we'd booked a room directly with the hotel), that they'd cancelled the original booking and would waive the cancellation fee!! No apology nor explanation why the hotel had not received the booking. Would have been better if they'd acted quicker and made sure the original booking went through. Very unpleasant experience.
Complained about the service we'd received and had a number of emails as a result. The difference in the cost of the room to us was refunded including a £2.80 goodwill gesture. Will never trust that the booking has gone through and will phone the hotel in future

False reviews in my name that they won't remove

My experience of Expedia over some time has been OK - until now. When something went wrong, I got several frustrating and nonsensical emails from people who didn't sound either real, or that English was a comfortable language for them. They have never gotten money back from a hotel on the occasions taht something went wrong, and I do wonder if they actually asked. I was particularly fed up when I'd booked unknowingly with a large group, and their stance and service jeopardised my stay. I asked Expedia if I could cancel, and I got a rather silly reply which wouldn't let me.

I also tried to book a hotel in Bury St Edmunds and found one that was actually near Hull - Expedia had listed it under Greene King, the brewery which owned the inn, not the actual location. I pointed this out several times but don't know if they changed it and put the right map on (BSE and Hull are about 200 miles apart!)

But what's prompted this review is that a review popped up in my name which I never made. I don't like reviewing culture, and I didn't want to critique a hotel that I might stay in again. They also don't let one choose the name you display, and after 24 hours, they don't let you change or remove the review without filling in a form, which may not be granted. They automatically show the exact date of your stay, your reason for stay and who you're with, and that means that my movements are trackable and public. And I mind that, it's a privacy issue.

I reported the false review to Expedia immediately. The rating was too low to feel I could easily return to this indie hotel who had been kind to me. It says "verified" but it's an utter lie. This was over 2 weeks ago; I filled in their wretched form, which I was told would take 3 business days - too long - to remove, but those have well elapsed, and the review is still there.

I did write a review, giving my real star rating of the property, and explaining that the other one in my name is false. Expedia auto rejected that, no explanation.

I made clear that if they censor my real voice but allow a false one, that I would review them on another site.

I have now again received an email from Expedia headed "penalty waiver request". This was nothing to do with the issue, but the subject line felt frightening. Why would I want to use a site/company that literally penalises its customers?|!

Flight booking cancelled by Expedia and slow to refund

Our flight booking was immediately cancelled by Expedia, but it took them well over a week and several phone calls / online chats to refund me the £1700. And when they did finally offer a refund it was £60 short of what we paid, which meant more hassle trying to get the last £60 back. The only positive is that the agents in the online chat were helpful and sorted things out for us.

Would never book with them again, like others say - best to go direct with the airline even if it costs a bit more.

pricing policy/competitiveness

I travel frequently for work and pleasure. On my last two trips I booked various hotels. However, on the one my wife checked some other travel sites and all were cheaper than Expedia even with the reward cost. They entice you with their OneKey rewards, cash back in credit.
We just booked again for 10 days, in all comparisons we made Expedia was more expensive. we saved £85 for the same stay.

I would rate them less than a star

I would rate them less than a star. Absolutely the worse travel agent I have ever dealt with. There aim is not to help you or assist.
I booked a flight for my 87 year old mum, and made sure to include cancellation and transfer. Airline, who are virgin and delta have changed the flight 3 times and offered to cancel the flight. I phoned virgin and they agreed to full refund but stated that expedia have a wording that agrees a cancellation which does not agree a refund! Why the hell would anyone want a cancellation without a refund! I called expedia x7 times and no one can help me, spout their word for word garbage without thought.

Just recieved an email after someone called me, asking for 8th time why am I cancelling, confirmed that virgin agreed the refund. They respond in their email stating that no one has explicitly contacted virgin but they are unwilling to provide refund.....

I after dealing with them, I would not recommend anyone to use this company ever. Book flights via the airline as you are subject to their rules not to rules of people who can't speak or understand what you are saying or alternatively to their company policy only not providing refunds when yoi book with a cancellation.

Appalling service, please do not use them no matter what you see. Terrible company, terrible staff, terrible customer service.

6 weeks and still waiting for my refund.
Flight was cancelled within minutes of making the booking.
Agent confirmed cancellation, gave me a case number.
Time passed, no refund, agent agreed that flight was cancelled, money would be in my account within 7 working days.
Still no refund.
Contact agent again, says another 4 weeks. Escalated to supervisor who says the case number doesn't exist. No refund in progress. I remind the agent by sending a down load of the transcript. Agent then says, I haven't waited 10 days. Changing his story.
I have no idea if I'll get my refund.
Expedia is a total scam.

Major data leak from this company

I booked hotel rooms for myself and a friend to visit France for football in March 2026. Received a scam message via WhatsApp asking for bank details or I would lose the booking despite having already paid.
The scammers had my phone number, dates of travel, name of the hotel, booking reference and amount paid to Expedia. This data leak can only have been from Expedia as the hotel did not have all the details used.
Contacted Expedia help desk who were not in the least bit interested in the data leak issue and refused to help in any way other than confirming my booking was still secured.

Worst experience ever with this…

Worst experience ever with this company! I booked a hotel in Saudi Arabia specifically because it was close to the venue I needed to visit. Just a day before my flight, they suddenly told me the hotel hadn’t confirmed my booking and switched me to a completely different one — far from my destination and well below the standard I originally paid for.
Despite multiple calls to customer service, I was falsely reassured that everything was fine. When I arrived, it was chaos — no confirmed booking, no proper accommodation, and a lot of stress for me and my family after a long flight. It completely ruined the start of our trip.
What’s worse is that the company refused to offer any compensation for the inconvenience, stress, or downgrade. They’ve ignored my messages and taken no responsibility for their mistake. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
If you value your peace of mind and your money, stay away from this company! They take your payment but disappear the moment something goes wrong.

COWBOYS THAT DONT CARE

I booked a package holiday through allholidays.uk (powered by Expedia). DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE, NO ONE WILL HELP YOU!

They are only ATOL Protected, not ABTA protected. My holiday went wrong from the time of booking. They failed to provide me with my ATOL certificate, my receipt or and details surrounding my booking. It was a miracle I actually had my holiday 6 months later. They cancelled 2 days of my booking 2 months before I travelled. I spent hours on the phone trying to rearrange the 2 days they'd cancelled, they wanted me to pay extra for the privilege. When I got off the plane and travelled to my hotel, I found out they had cancelled all of my accommodation, I was left stranded, I was tired, distraught, devestated. I'd been in the air 15 hours. When I tried calling and asking for help they said, that'll be another £5000. I'd already paid £6000.
I had to use my spending money to find alternative accommodation.
3.5 days of packing bags and moving hotels as I couldn't secure accommodation for the full 12 days.
Four days into my holiday, I suddenly received a refund for the accommodation they'd cancelled. No explanation. No apology for ruining my wedding anniversary, Christmas or New Year celebrations.
I'm still battling now for compensation for loss of enjoyment, they just don't want to know.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
