Not the quickest but perfect in every other way and the best price by far

Firstly, my personal experience of Extak when ordering a £100 hard drive from them. It took over a week for the drive to arrive, but when it did, it was well packaged, via a tracked delivery, and exactly as described. Extak were also significantly cheaper than anyone else, including the biggest online sellers. Overall, a very happy experience and I'd highly recommend Extak if your need isn't ultra urgent.

Next, my guess on what I think is Extak's business model. I may be wrong, but I believe they don't hold stock themselves but instead source it from wholesalers once you've placed an order with Extak. This model avoids tying money up in stock, which provides savings, hence noticeably cheaper prices, but also more time to fulfill your order.

Next, a possible pitfall. Extak rightly highlight that, under Distance Selling Regulations, you have the right to cancel your order soon after receipt, but if they take forever sourcing your goods, your statutory rights won't apply, so your right to cancel at this point seems less clear.

Finally, my conspiracy theories for and against. Extak advertise a postal address (good), but on Google Street View there aren't any Extak signs and it looks similar to an apartment block (no crime there). There are also some interesting behaviours in relation to reviews of Extak - admittedly some look a bit like adverts (suspicious?), but equally others (particularly positive ones) are reported and blocked with breath-taking zeal (someone got a grudge against them?) - my first attempt to post a review was blocked within moments.

Dreadful service-will never use again!

I ordered a birthday present for my nephew, payment was taken and all seemed fine. Then a week later an email was sent saying the item would be dispatched in a couple of days. Then another email arrived saying the item was out of stock. Am chasing a refund now. Would never use again!

The worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with

I ordered a LED TV on the 4th of Sep and was promised I would receive the TV today after I contacted them on Monday. Nothing from them, not even an email to say when will I receive the TV. They have taken my money from my bank on the 4th, that's 14 days ago and tomorrow I will go and contact my credit card issuer to get my money back. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND THEY DO NOT DELIVER. AVOID THEM. Terrible customer service and when you try to call them on a premium number the call goes to an answer machine which is full and terminates your call. You can not contact them at all. I send 2 emails and they never replied. The worst company ever, shame on them. People that have bad experiences tell 20 people about it when happy customers just go back to buy more and tell 1 or 2people. Word of mouth is free advertising but this company doesn't know what that is apparently.

Absolute joke, no system or process in place, DO NOT USE!

Just because Extak says it has something on stock does not mean it does. My ETA when adding to cart was next working day. As soon as money left my account, that got pushed to 5-10 days. After questioning via phone on a premium rate number, I got given "priority shipping" but after 11 days, still no dispatch notice. Upon calling again, I couldn't get through to anybody. I got sent to voice mail where the mailbox was full. Finally, someone picked up after several premium calls to them and said they'd check it out. I then get an email saying the item was never in Stock, and it will take 7-10 days for my refund to come through.

As a result of this, I missed a good deal on the same item elsewhere. Still waiting on my refund, and as soon as I suggested that I shouldn't have had to call to get my order double checked, let alone multiple times, and requested compensation, the email chain has gone dead quiet.

The prices are good, but not worth the hassle.

slow delivery no email

I ordered on the 7th sept and received delivery on the 18th which may seem not too
bad, but the initial delivery was stated as the 13th. When I enquired of Extak they
said they would send an email 24 hours before delivery but I received the unit without
having an email. The unit delivered is correct and appears in sound condition but I
haven't powered it yet.

Very bad at being able to contact

I ordered on the 20th August and the item was not delivered within the time I was given. I then tried to call the number from the website and was in a queue, after waiting in the queue I reached number 1 then I was put though to an answer phone. I tried again and same happened again. I gave up trying to call as the answer phone was full so could not leave a message. I filled in a form from the Contact Us to ask when my order was going to be delivered as the stock was assigned and the website still said they had stock. I finally got a response to say that they could not full fill the order, while on the website the item was still for sale and show as in stock. I sent another Contact Us form to as why it was still for sale when they could not full fill it? I got refund then I reordered it and paid another 39p more on the 6th September and that one has not turned up either and the item is still on sale. I have no faith in this company at all.

customer service scores a big fat zero

I was searching for a 40inch LED television for a family present - my father-in-laws 90th birthday to be precise. On the EXTAK site I ordered a SAMSUNG set which appeared to fit the bill exactly. The site advised that if I ordered within the next 17 hours the package would be delivered on 23 August. A day later I had a confirmation email advising that the package would be delivered between 28 August and 30 August. I was rather disappointed with this as the birthday celebrations were due on 26 August. I rang the company and after some telephone delay I spoke to someone who apologised for missing the delivery date and told me that there were "problems with the website". Unable to alter the course of events I awaited the promised delivery but nothing arrived. I repeatedly tried telephoning the company and sending emails to which I could not get any response. On the 2 September the package eventually turned up looking as if it had travelled twice round the World being battered and torn. On opening the box I discovered that the set was quite badly damaged so I again tried to ring EXTAK. Despite numerous attempts I could not get to speak to anyone for several days. I was kept waiting on a pathetic automatic telephone system and remained at number 2 in the queue for some 20 minutes before inevitably an answerphone would kick in. I left messages that no one ever returned until I finally got through to someone by repeatedly ringing the number. I was advised to go on line and follow the returns process. This done I received an email asking for photographs of the damage before a return could be "authorised". This return has now been authorised but no replacement will be made until EXTAK receive the package and complete their investigation - I await the outcome with bated breath! Once resolved (I still live in hope) I will never use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone that I know.

Liars, no items in stock when they say they have 10+

I ordered £400 worth of computer components two weeks later after chasing it up I'm told that they don't stick these items and have to order them in, even though their website says they have 10+ in stock.

If I hadn't asked I'd probably still be waiting. Now I have to see how long it takes them to refund the order....

Terrible service

Ordered a mouse on 7th Sept. Money taken straight away and email confirmation received. By the 16th, nothing arrived, checking website, the order is still pending, so I rang up. After being on hold for a while I'm told the mouse is actually out of stock and would I like to swap it. The website says there are more than 10 in stock, but I was told that the website is wrong and if I didn't want another item, they'll cancel my order so I agreed. 5 days for a refund. Bloke was polite enough, not really apologetic, no discount, upgrade in shipping if I took another mouse. Nothing but two weeks with no mouse and no money. Cheers Extack. 1st and last time I use you.

Easy transaction and competitive price.

Was looking for a simple and inexpensive way for powerline networking and Extak had the WD Livewire for the cheapest price £26. Shipping was quick too. Good value for money. Product was well packaged and works well.

Awful service with unhelpful customer service

My order wasn't processed for days, the estimated arrival date was put back as it hadn't been dispatched, they took extra money out of my account but denied it (only £4.50 but it was the principle) firstly they said it was postage (which I had already paid), they have asked me to send me a screen shot of my online banking as proof that it was taken out. They won't refund me this money until I provide proof.

I had to pay postage for £105 worth of products, yet if I had split the order I wouldn't have paid any postage, this was ludicrous. I've spent over 30 minutes on hold trying to speak to them today and I keep getting cut off, I now just want a refund but I can't get through. So angry and frustrated.

Great Prices, Terrible after sales

Their prices are very good, unquestionably some of the cheapest around, however, once the order is accepted it all rather falls apart. they send u an email with an overly optimistic estimate of delivery date (carefully and discreetly adding "subject to availability"). You then get an email link to trust pilot requesting you rate them before you have experienced the joys of their off-shore (i'm guessing) customer services. While evidently well-meaning and for the most part polite and patient are, as far as I can tell simply reading off what it says on the orders part of their website. They appear to have no additional info, thus rendering a call to them when u are often passed to voicemail after hanging on for ages utterly pointless.
I'm still waiting and hoping for delivery - I guess you can forgive them the imperfect aftersales (assuming it does eventually arrive) for the amazing prices ..

Ok after all that, (several days later) have just called them to be informed that the item is out of stock. So for the 4 other calls I've made where I have been informed everything is progressing fine and the item is in stock, all of sudden it appears to have been untrue. To their (slightly dubious) credit they immediately offered a refund and send a confirmation email of the cancellation.
I read all the negative reviews but decided to persevere anyway as the prices were good and some appeared happy. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative ones now. Total waste of time ! Useless customer services, who are not remotely rude but patently very poorly informed ...

Further to this once more - They have made no attempt to refund the money - claiming back thru credit card company .. DO NOT USE EXTAK !!

and finally .. Refund came thru after nearly 3 weeks from the original transaction. Only use Extak if you want to waste a sizeable chunk of your life waiting for an item that will likely never appear. Talking to customer services, who though I think, well-intentioned seem to have no sway whatsoever over the situation and can merely read to you what you already know while costing u premium rate for the call, and finally waiting weeks for your money back ..

It took over an hour to get the order placed

It took over an hour to sort out my order?
Try to order the tablet using my iPad but when I goto completing my order it just hung.
Then I decided to setup an account, did that went back to the shopping cart found that when I went to do the ordered I was provided with a window that I had to enter my name and address in by hand and the same with the delivery address.
This was all in my account detail not sure why it was not transferred across.
At this point I decided to do it on a PC, still had to enter the details by hand but this time it went thou. At this point the information about the order was in my account !!!!!

Slow.

Very slow delivery even though the product was "suppose" to be in stock. Expected delivery date was wrong, took over a week to assign item let alone dispatch it. Would NOT recommend to anyone.

SWINDLED

Read their reports before ordering, sounded good, so I placed an order using my visa.
At that time it was in stock.
Received an email 2 days later stating out of stock. I have tried emailing and phoning. Their messaging service is full and cannot take any more messages. I have not received any answers from my email sent to them.
What a waste of time and money. I am hoping to get my money back through my visa.
DON'T PLACE ANY ORDERS WITH THIS FIRM.

Awful

I've been waiting for an item for 18 days now when delivery was expected within 5 days. I rang to chase and was in a queue for over 40 minutes so gave up. My initial email was responded to and an alternative date given for delivery but 2 days have since passed with no contact. I have emailed twice with no response and I now require a refund to order elsewhere but no acknowledgement to my emails have been received.

Seamless online shopping..

Order No 184685 dated 12th September.
To visit the Extak website is to be deceived.
At the time of ordering the Samsung WIS 12 ABGNX dongle was shown as being in stock (more than 10) and will almost certainly still show that availability, along with many other items that are also not in stock. However their delivery , they say will be eight days, which for me means that Extak has NO STOCK and the long delivery is as a result of their having to obtain stock in order to satisfy the order. Nothing short of dishonestly - if that sounds too strong a word just take a look at the reviews and you will find countless examples of long delivery times, almost certainly due to this kind of deceit.
So I am afraid I would rather have a dose of Flu that have anything more to do with Extak.

No delivery and no response

Having placed an order and it not arriving, emailed the contact on teh website and have no response I am wondering what sort of outfit this is and if I have be swindled?

Customer service is about communicating to your customers setting expectations or advising them of any changes. Silence is not customer service.

Horrible service!!

My item has not yet arrived.. I did write to them... no reply..
and they have one paid number no any other contact number you can see on the site.. . finally waiting for 10 days I called.. and they said there us further delay ... I am now seeing if in meantime I can get same price elsewhere ..then will call and get refund.. only grace for them is that they do refund... hopefully I am trusting they do it promptly without creating us running back on them
