Needed 2 new tyres so searched…

Needed 2 new tyres so searched Blackcircles.com and found the ones I wanted were available at a convenient F1 Autocentre. Booked a fitting slot, turned up and the tyres were fitted without delay. Friendly staff, clean premises. Was offered wheel alignment but declined. However, I decided to have the alignment done so returned several days later to book an appointment. No need as they offered to do the job while I waited. Great staff. Great service. Great prices! Will certainly use their services again.

2 new tyres

Ordered 2 tyres, fitted at the agreed upon appointment time. They found and diagnosed another fault. I also had rear brakes done while I was there. Fantastic team, very friendly and professional. Definitely recommend and will be using again.

MOT & repairs

Castleford F1 autos is an outstanding garage I highly recommend anyone to go there with there vehicle.
Booked my car in for the MOT which failed the lads got me in fairly quickly for the repair work which was fairly priced then I had my retest which I'm highly satisfied with.
Great team of machnics highly trusted definitely recommend to all .

Honest experience

Ordered 2 tyres for fitting, on the fitting day mechanic took my car to do the tyres, 2 mins later asked me why I wanted the tyres changing as there was still 4mm left. I didn't know that Michelin tyres had 2 indicators in the grooves for euro limits. And I had checked the wrong one. Very honest and helpful and explained how I could get a refund from PayPal. Cheers guys

They can’t be trusted constantly upselling you lies & don’t complete what they say they will do, cowboy's giving mechanics a bad name!

3 years ago I went to this branch to have some Blackcircles tyres fitted so weren’t really financially capitalising on the booking as a “middleman”. During the fitting Formula One Autocentre mechanics said that they identified that the car needed new front brake pads/disks, a number of other defects and quoted £500+ for the work. After a quick telephone call to National Tyres, they quoted me £350 and Formula One Autocentre matched this under their price promise. I was slightly aggrieved that they were so overpriced but work was needed, the car was there and time to complete it the same day. Hardly competitive pricing.

Fast forwards to January 2025 (10 weeks after an MOT) and I booked the same car in for a full service with Formula One Autocentre thinking their tactics would change dropping it off at 08:55 and left for the day. I passed the garage at 11:00 to find that the car hadn’t moved an inch from when it was parked up but thought it’s in for a day so be it. I made a record of the cars mileage and noted that the adapter to the dashcam was plugged in.

I received a phone call at 2pm to say that the service identified £640 worth of work that needed doing. This work covered almost every aspect of the car suspension, braking and engine etc and it was the kind of phone call that you could smell the bull. Most ironically, the report identified corrosion and weak springs etc… yet 10 weeks prior to this another garage completing my MOT reported and commented that it’s in good condition with no rust, corrosion and brakes with good mm’s left on them! So according to Formula One Autocentre, extensive corrosion and lots of mm wear can come on within 10 weeks at standard driving conditions, routine mileage and a responsible driver (myself that has passed additional ADI training)? I declined the additional work for a second opinion and just opted for the oil and filter change as I couldn’t trust what they were saying.

Further to this at the start of December 2024, I put 3 new tyres on the car and had the (still legal) offside tyre be moved from the front to the rear. Completing the service, Formula One Autocentre reported that both front treads were 6mm and the rears were 7mm. How can the offside rear tyre that was 18 months older than the front as it was originally on the front be the same 7 mm’s as the newly added nearside rear tyre and just 1mm more than the newly added front tyres. It’s blatant by looking at the offside rear tyre that it’s at a lower measurement yet their mechanic just put in 6mm front and 7mm rear because he was lazy, didn’t measure and is caught out on this tyre change fact!

I returned to the garage at 2:30pm to find the oil change still wasn’t started (one of 5 cars in) whilst two mechanics were alternating between working and having cigarette breaks on their phones whilst one mechanic was in the office. A car was taken off the ramp and a mechanic was smoking behind the wheel of a customer car whilst bringing it in breaking rules not only concerning smoking in the workplace but inside customer property. Completely unacceptable.

Seeing me arrive, they hurried the oil change and said it won’t be long. 90mins later after more moments of laziness and the car was ready. Then there was a problem taking payment for a £35 additional charge (fully synthetic oil/plug) that isn’t easily told about on the website because they lost the reports on the system for my service. Fortunately documentation was found. The mechanic behind the desk said that as soon as he looked up my reg he could tell it would need this £35 charge. So if the database is in place to see this why isn’t the customer told about it at checkout?!

I returned to my car to find that the mileage hadn’t moved, yet as part of a full service Formula One Autocentre state an “on road” test takes place. Another lie and example of their incompetence and laziness. My dashcam was unplugged and just wanting to get the hell out of there, I couldn’t be bothered stating the facts that it was a complete waste of time/money and left.

My experience of this Castleford branch on two occasions has been nothing short of horrendous filled with contradictions, cheap deals to entice you and then upsell you lies during your visit whilst the work they say will take place (tyre measurements and an on the road tyre test) is ignored. They cannot be trusted and I would strongly advise anybody to steer clear of these cowboys!

Weard company policy

I've been done MOT for my small transit there for last two yeasr with no problem till now.
They won't accept small transit van (camper/day van converted) due to size, but will accept wvT6 wich is same size.

Scammers

Shit service, failed my MOT on one thing, quited for something different. Didnt even offer to fix the thing that MOT failed on. Went to different place as when you take the car from the Formula one you have to pay for retest. Second olace said, there nothing wrong, no reason to fail, just 2 small advisories. I do not recommend, went there only coz I forgot about the MOT and this was the only place that had an empty slot. Went to read review after some comments from friends about this place and regretted booking even before goign there but I thought I will give them a chance. Very disrespectful to woman. DO NOT GO THERE

Great advice and great service with a cracking price

I called in with a slow puncture last week. The guys fixed it straight away and showed me that my rear tyres were wearing on the inside and just to keep an eye on them. No pressure sale here. The snow soon after provided sufficient insight that awd doesn’t work too well on summer tyres so decided to get all seasons. I asked for some advice and the options were shown again no pressure. I decided on the option of Khumo and whilst fitting was been done I decided on 4 wheel alignment too. Every step was explained and never was the hard upsell that some places use.

Initially disappointing, improved somewhat by the response.

Took my car in for diagnostics which discovered a fault in the ABS sensor. They could not order the part so it was decided between myself and the mechanic on the desk that I would order the part and they would fit it. Took it back a few days later for the MOT and mentioned about the part I had ordered, to be told that that was the wrong part and not to pay too much attention to what the previous mechanic had said as they'd recently had to sack a bunch of people for incompetence.

The car failed its MOT but I found another garage who were able to repair the faults and retest it for at least £200 less than Formula 1 were quoting.

EDIT: Within 24 hours of the review I was contacted by the area manager who was very apologetic, explained that he has recently made changes to the branch and refunded me for all the work done and the part that was needlessly ordered. He was very professional and helpful and helped take the sting out of what had been an incredibly disappointing experience.

Amazing

Took my car in for MOT on 5th Oct. Unfortunately, It failed on emissions, but the staff was amazing. The staff explained what I could do to reduce the emissions myself to save money. Took my car to a place to get Carbon Cleaned and went back a week later for a MOT-Retest and passed with flying colours.

This place is an utter disgrace

This place is an utter disgrace. I booked online on 31/8/2024 for an MOT for 23/9/2024. They rang me the day before to say they had not testers working that day even though they had the booking for 3 weeks. I rearranged for two days later which was inconvenient to be contacted on that day to say their ramp couldn’t accommodate my car (Audi A8). They cancelled outright. Surely they knew about this issue when they initially rearranged my booking. Absolutely abysmal service. Do not go there. I have used them for tyres in the pst without issues.

Castlefore Formula 1 Auto Centre

I was stuck with a vehicle breakdown on a Saturday afternoon, not many garages are open on Sundays! Rang Formula 1 as soon as they answered and Gavin was so helpful, a wheel bearing had gone on my old Transit. Gavin couldn't promise it would be fixed same day but would do his best. A bolt sheared due to the age of the vehicle so Sunday was out of the question but I had a deadline of needing the vehicle back Monday night at the latest. It's not an easy job getting a sheared bolt out but Gavin himself got the job done, vehicle back on the road Monday afternoon as needed.
I was informed what was happening throughout the job, kept up to date and the price totally reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this fantastic team to anyone!

They messed up fitting a set of tyres

Booked a tyre fitting for 0930 on a Saturday morning, turned up at the alloted time to be told that the tyres hadn't turned up and would need to come back in the afternoon or later next week. This turned out to be a lie as the tyres had arrived the previous day (The booking was through asda tyres who were really good)
After alot of messing about, and returning later in the afternoon, I left the centre with tyres all at the wrong pressures, varying from 33 to 56 psi. All my valves were badly damaged and needed replacing and couldn't accommodate an inflation device due to the bad damage. The garage did try and tell me all my tracking was out though, despite me being prudent enough to have had this checked before putting the new tyres on. It took four trips to the garage and a ruined Saturday off work to rectify this. The garage eventually replaced the valves for free (very grateful for that) and offered my 18 pounds to cover all the waisted journeys. Oh and finally, I discovered they had lied about the tyres not arriving for the scheduled fitting time as Asda had taken a picture of them delivered there the previous day and signed for by their staff. The area manager and garage manager were quite abrupt and refused to believe the mistakes and lies they had made. A truly terrible service. Fitting a set of tyres is their bread and butter and they couldn't even manage to do that right. Go there at your own risk.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. Just had tyres fit by them. They were swift and efficient and did exactly what they said they’d do. No hidden cost, just a great service from a nice a team. I’d definitely recommend them. Very professional place. Thank you.

Just wanted to give a massive shoutout…

Just wanted to give a massive shoutout to Corey and the awesome team at Formula One Autocentres for squeezing me in for a tyre change and wheel alignment!

Corey was an absolute legend for fitting me in between their jam-packed schedule. Proper professional bunch, and they were dead honest about what needed sorting on my motor.

Massive thanks to Corey and the Formula One Autocentres crew for the top-notch service! If you're after tyre and alignment work, these lot are the real deal. Definitely gonna swing by for all my car needs in the future.
