We have sold two houses through FH. It's difficult to separate the housing market from agent performance sometimes, but we did feel that we got value for money - especially on the second sale. Spe... See more

The worst estate agent I have ever come across
I had a government grant for a new insulated roof, solar panels and underfloor insulation on my park home
As this didn't come with an invoice they wouldn't advertise this work even though the office manager said it wouldn't be a problem
And I had to pay £250 to get out of the contract, apparently for digital marketing even though the marketing didn't meet my requirements
And they are £1000 dearer than other agents in the area
Zero feedback and still waiting for their complaints department to get back to me
Also waited 2 weeks for a sign to arrive after much chasing
They are also no longer a member of the FCA, a red flag if ever I saw one

I wish I had read some of the reviews on here prior to taking out a contract with Farrell Heyworth to sell my house… I think everything that has been said on here is quite true.. my house was on the market for roughly 18 months, I had no viewings and around 3 communications with the team within that period..
The lack of communication is one of the main reasons I would say to avoid this company as most of the other agents will provide you with some feedback/updates along the way.. I agree also that the additional ‘Digital Marketing’ fee is another reason, as this seems to be merely fee in addition to what they would be doing anyway to sell your property and is sold under the pretence that you will get some additional benefit from having it..
All in all I lost confidence in the company to sell the house, they have as I was later told changed some of the staff/teams and are attempting to provide a better service, however I would advise if you go with this company, avoid the additional marketing fee and stay with the basic package..also, if you do take out this additional fee they will not remove it from the market should you change your mind etc until it’s paid..
Another issue is even when you have paid the amount it could take upto 30 days for them to remove it from marketing platforms… which could impact on you moving to another agent.

I already have a review below explaining we were charged £300 for a level of service appropriately rated zero to one star. We made only one request when we paid this fee: that our (useless) property ad be taken down. We had zero viewers in over a year and next to zero contact from FH explaining why. FH refused to take the ad down by not replying. They relied on their practice of asking one month's notice before taking their marketing away. Bear in mind that the biggest online tool is Zoopla and they don't even use it. Bear in mind they only put your property on two online sites. Bear in mind they produced a year of zero viewers with their marketing. Selling your home? It's stressful enough without using this sort of £300 marketing approach.

Be careful with this company. We got landed with a 300 pound bill for their " digital matketing". Actually hidden in the small print and not disclosed at any point. Their digital marketing consisted of rightmove and on the market.
We got practically zero contact , and no updates whilst with them. Save yourself money and stress and go elsewhere.

This agent is beyond useless, the offices are ran by children who have no idea what they are doing.
They are rude and unprofessional. Some of the email responses i received were beyond comprehension. Basic grammar and spelling were non existent! Unbelievably there were times when emojis were even used throughout the exchange.
It is beyond baffling how they can allow these straight up school leavers run an office and attempt to sell houses.

Please avoid this company - local office I used was run by kids! So many mistakes were made with my house being for sale, I couldn't get away from them quick enough. They promise the earth but in reality they haven't got a clue what they are doing. Changed to another agent and can not believe the difference. Save your money and energy and go with someone else!

Shocking. Very rude person on the phone. Would not let me view a property unless I had a contract with there mortgage broker. I’m a cash buyer!

I'm currently looking for a property to rent since my landlord has now sold my apartment.
I'd seen a property with Farrell Heyworth which has been on the rental market for quite some time. Today it was reduced so I contacted them to arrange a viewing (contacting them in the first place is a complete nightmare and so unprofessional). I eventually spoke to Danielle who asked me a few questions, such as my annual income. Then when she discovered I received benefits, I was told that I do not earn enough so would not be able to view the property. I pay exactly the same amount now as they're asking and have lived here for over 5 years (which I did immediately tell her) so I find it strange that they can assume that I cannot afford that particular property. I wasn't even asked if I had savings, other means of covering costs or if I had a guarantor. I live in a beautiful Grade II listed building and my current landlord cannot speak highly enough of me as a tenant as I take excellent care of the property and never fail to meet rent, on time and in full.
Farrell Heyworth have shown discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and whilst I consider it a lucky escape for me, as I wouldn't trust these agents one bit when it comes to managing properties and looking after tenants, I think it absolutely disgusting that they are treating people with such contempt and getting away with it. I hope someone looks into this company and their very obvious discrimination, but I won't waste a moment more thinking about the disregard and ill treatment from this despicable agency.

If i could give 0 stars i would, they agreed to take our house on after it being on with someone else said we had underpriced it by 20k and they could sell it no problem but keep it at the same price as it was previously on, within 3 weeks of it being on they asked to reduce the price, we asked could they create a better description and some better photos as it was very basic, they said yes but we would have to rewrite the description and retake the photos, had a few veiwings no feedback given and no notice of viewings, then we had a few no shows, they lied to us several times when we asked what happened on including saying our property was a favourite of someone who didnt even view the property, they have a charge of £200ish for it to go on social media, which we have never seen any evidence of, when asked where is it on social media the woman on the phone said you would have to ask us to do something before we would do anything, they lie to get you to go with them, lie about what they are doing and all they do is put your house on rightmove and if there isnt a buyer straight away ask you to reduce the price, this isnt an estate agents its a scam. Do not use i regret leaving JDG so much.

I have been emailing this company everyday for 2 weeks trying to book a viewing for a rental property as for some unknown reason you can't call and speak to a actual human being. I have had no responce at all. Nothing. Whatsoever. So if you are trying to rent out your property through this company good luck getting viewings because they clearly want to advertise your property but don't want to let people look round them.

Do not sell with this Company!!!
This "Family run company" is anything put family run. They got me to sell with them with promises of an eager team who would focus on selling my property and that if it didn't sell and I wanted to take it off the market there would be no fees.
After a year on the market without a single offer I discovered on an occasion that when someone wanted to book a viewing for my property they were also pushed to view another flat Farrell Heyworth were selling in my building a floor up. then when this person said they would rather not on the viewing day they were taken up to view the other flat first before being shown mine anyway. I know this as i asked a friend to go on a viewing to see how they did and this is what they came back with.
But more importantly they lied about the fees. I will say I did sign the contract that has in writing the fee so I was to blame for not fully checking that over but when the valuer came round and while they were trying to convince me to go with Farrell Heyworth they told me there were no fees for leaving, I even asked this at a later date and they confirmed it so I trusted there word which I now regret doing. When I spoke to the office about this I was told the valuer had left the company a few years ago so he could not vouch for this (I put my property in the market 1 year ago so this was already false) And then at a later date got called a liar by the middle manager. After this I just bit the bullet and paid the exiting Fee as they refused to take the property of the market until I did. But when sending me the invoice they upped the price from what was on the contract then told me to pay but luckily this time I had the contract with the amount on it so I was able to get the changed quickly but they were more then happy initially to take the higher amount pressing that I could not take the property off until I did this.
At the end of this all I can say is if you have read this do not go with this company, pick any other estate agents and hopefully you wont have to go through the same experience I did.

One of the worst agencies I've ever come across in my entire life.
I've been renting with a lot of agencies and Farrel Heyworth has been the worst. They are pretty quick to set up renting contracts and get your money yet when you report your issues with rental property, emergency repairs, electrical failure and leaks, they somehow forget to respond for weeks even months. They have no emergency contact as well.
Not recommended at all.

After an initial consultation for selling our house through the Poulton branch, I felt confident. We were apparently putting our house on the market at the perfect time, confident of a quick sale for a decent price etc etc. I was, at that stage, asked to leave a review, which I did and it was positive. Talk about premature.
Fast forward a few weeks and we had virtually no contact from our agent, I constantly had to chase to get any info despite being told about I’d get a call every two weeks. Weeks after being told it was the perfect time to sell I was told it was the natural slow time and that sales were unlikely until spring. Several storms meant our sign blew down countless times and it to weeks to get it sorted. Farrell Heyworth gaine haven’t even got one single viewing on our property, nor any feedback from any of the huge roster of clients they boasted about. All I could be told was that it was “weird” that no feedback was received and that our house is beautiful so it doesn’t make sense. We’re now almost at the end of our notice having taking it off the market. We went for the booster package and have essentially paid £300 for our house to sit and stagnate on Right Move for 7 months. Absolutely cannot recommend.
In reference to the below reply- I’ve had one missed call from Simon. And the extensive log of communication will show either 90% initiated by me or my wife or the automated reports that are sent out. Fair enough if people don’t want to by our house but 1. Be honest about it and 2. Actively do something to sell it- is that not your bread and butter?
I’m not looking for a resolution, just joining the chorus of other reviews with seemingly very similar experiences!

I called to enquire about a property and to arrange a viewing.i spoke to a lady called Lauren Ford. She was brilliant! Professional, helpful and friendly. I’m new to this and I felt she was extremely patient, was happy to answer my queries and answered my email almost immediately.

Its ridiculous when we are waiting for a viewing of property and looking forward for that by even applying leave at work..2 days before some one calling and just canceling the same saying it's sold off without all having others viewing done. What a terrible ethics that is?

Our experience with this company was atrocious .
We had four quotes for our home to be sold by local agents .
The employee who came to our home from this company was
in my opinion trying to be intimidating
A very aggressive way of trying to secure business .
I ended up blocking her from both my phone and email after receiving unsolicited contact after I told her we were employing another company .
After she tried to justify her attitude when visiting our home in her telephone call and a long email.
She wrote to me in such a manner that we almost found the content amusing in its arrogance .
I quote….
“I have CORRECTED you on how the market is and it is my job to EDUCATE sellers and buyers on this “
Educate and correct !?
I was horrified to receive such a rude unprofessional missive .
Totally unacceptable language .
I am a retired sales director so well versed in the language used in negotiation with clients.
This kind of arrogance is beyond belief.
Please be aware of the tactics used by this company .

Not the best experience buying a house with Farrell Heyworth, first when it came to negotiating a price they weren’t cooperative at all. They refused to go back to the sellers with offers we had as they didn’t think they would accept? Surely that’s for the seller to decide not the seller estate agent. After fighting to just get our offer through the door they finally went back to the seller with the price and the seller accepted.
Once the offer was finally accepted by the sellers, Farrell Heyworth kept the house on the market for months after stating the sellers wanted to keep the house of the market to see if they could get a better offer (bare in mind we had to start paying £1000s worth of legal fees at this point) which almost caused us to pull out of the sale in the end due to us not wanting to waste £1000s of pounds on legal fees for them to get a higher offer and send us kicking down the dirt path later down the line. We had to fight to get Farrell Heyworth to actually show it as Sold STC on the website which is absolutely ridiculous considering the seller accepted our offer. They didn’t communicate this with us at all, tried to keep it under the carpet.
Finally the icing on the cake was completion day, usually the seller is meant to drop the keys off at the estate agents for us to pick up. This didn’t happen, Farrell Heyworth called us midday on completion day stating the seller needed more time to clear the property so we had to get the keys off him at the house. We arrived at the house for the guy to literally be in the middle of clearing things up, this was extremely awkward and ruined the whole experience for my partner. He also had to come back the next morning to clear more of this stuff.
Overall, wouldn’t recommend buying a house with this lot, they are extremely unprofessional, uncooperative and just don’t offer a good experience when it comes to buying your first house. I’d go as far as to say they take advantage of first time buyers by using loopholes and techniques that you won’t be aware of as a first time buyer. A good company would offer education and support to first time buyers not try and take advantage of them.
Very sly of them to try and keep the house on the market after accepting an offer also as we could’ve been left £1000s out of pocket.

Absolutely rubbish. If you don't want your property to sell FH are the way to go. They lock you with the talk but Absolutely cannot do the walk. If vicky contacts you from their blackpool branch to sell your their services run!! She will never admit her fault and behaves like an absolute leech to get you on board and once you've signed the agreement you'll never hear from them again.

Whilst in the end we sold our house, i absolutely wish we had gone through another estate agent, as i am not really sire what we paid them for….
At our valuation, we were won over by promises of fancy marketing packs and photography. What this ended up amounting to was the property on rightmove (which any EA offers) our property shared a grand total of ONCE over 10 months on social media, and photos that i ended up retaking on my own mobile phone as the professional ones were awful. Even my sales advisor agreed when i sent her the ones i had taken myself. This fancy “marketing” package sets you back just shy of £300, in addition to your selling cost and your liable to pay even if you don’t end up selling (so much for no sale no fee!)
We had a total of 11 viewings over 10 months, of which i was asked to do ALL 11!!! Despite being told they would have multiple agents available for showing including weekends, not once did they have anyone available when anyone called to view. There was always the emotional manipulation of “we aren’t available but you never know this could be the one!”
We had an original sale fall through and were actually advised to keep our property off market and give them a few weeks to find a new buyer (which really is shoddy advice) needless to say they didn’t find a buyer and i had to go back on the market. I even had to demand it happen as the property we wanted was going back on the market on a specific day and F&H were more worried about upsetting our original buyers than selling our house.
We would go vast amounts of time with no contact, no viewings, no information on how the property was performing on rightmove until i asked and no information on what they were doing to sell the property. In fact, when i would call and speak to the manager he was nothing short of rude (stark contrast as he did the original valuation and what a change in character once you were locked in)
When we received and accepted our 2nd offer things seemed to go smoothly (or more accurately i heard nothing for weeks) until we were passed to the “sales progression team” who were either never in the office or had no idea what was going on! The sale nearly collapsed a number of times due to people not reading emails and understanding situations properly, but the sales progression team either had no idea or the wrong idea. One day i even received a congratulations on setting a completion date 2 days after the buyer had stated they had lender issues, they just had no clue! In the end i found it easier to deal entirely with our solicitor who was great, communicating with the buyers solicitor. These were introduced by F&H and were the only good thing to come out of the whole ordeal really.
So all in all they didn’t really market beyond rightmove (and charged me £300 extra), i ended up taking my own pictures, had to do all my own showings and found them of absolutely no use in the progression of the sale. Not sure what exactly the “fee” was for as they seemed to do very little and were absolutely not the cheapest option to go with either. But you live and learn.
A side note really as this was our fault not to double check, the EA actually closed our local branch some time before we instructed but this wasnt made clear to us. The numbers on the website used local area codes but transferred to an office much further away. I do wonder if this had something to do with why they didnt want to do the viewings, but they sold themselves as a “local” EA of which they were very much not.
If we were ever to sell again, we would absolutely go to another EA. Likely the one we bought the house off as they were nothing but professional and on the ball.
