Terrible service

I have never been to a car sales garage before , so had no idea what to expect. Should have been exciting, choosing a car, but actually turned out to be demoralising and disheartening. I made an appointment, then confirmed it on the morning of the appointment, as requested. I was told, more then once, that they sell between 8 - 10 cars a day, so was surprised when I rang through that they actually new who I was before I even gave a name, so obviously not busy with appointments then.
I turned up 5 minutes early, as I believe is good practice. Nobody explained what was going to happen. I was then kept waiting 25 minutes ( +5 minutes because of my prompt arrival ), while the salesman hunted for keys for this car and that, running in and out of the office, and it was complete mayhem.
Obviously my time had no value whatsoever. I got up to leave twice, but then thought I really did want to see the car. Eventually, I was invited to go and look at it ( although the salesman disappeared off again, so I couldn't ask any questions ). Quite a long time later, he put the car ready for me to have a test drive and left me ' to get comfortable '. 5 minutes later, I was still sitting there, wondering if I was expected to drive off without him, and contemplating doing just that. Then I thought it wasn't worth risking getting into bother with the police, so went back inside to see where on Earth he'd got to. He repeated that I was 'supposed to be getting comfortable'. But finally, and apparently reluctantly, he came out.
The clutch felt a bit strange, but he said that was how all French cars worked. That's clearly not true: - I've had two Peugeots and two Clios, and they weren't like this.
We had a very brief run around, then back to the office. He contradicted what I'd been told by one of his colleagues about financing the purchase, so please check very carefully all the details of financing arrangements, if you're buying with finance from this garage.
The whole experience ate a huge chunk out of my afternoon, for a chat or less then 10 minutes and a drive of the same. Perhaps if his colleagues hadn't kept coming in and out and starting up other conversations with him, it might have been better service; it certainly couldn't have been worse.
The car was exactly what I want, but I could only bring myself to make a low offer, as I was very reluctant to buy from them, and it was a relief, tbh, when they declined my offer. I have no intention of increasing it, although I could if I wanted to. Perhaps if I'd been a man and / or in a business suit, they'd have made more effort. I certainly wouldn't go back there, whatever they might be selling in the future.

Stay well clear of this company

So here goes after had mechanic report today and be aware this company is selling cars and covering up faults , bought a car for my daughter her very first car only 18 years old and told everything was ok passed its MOT with flying colours , she’s driving on one of the busiest roads in Scotland at the Perth roundabout when car starts belting smoke and lost its power very nearly causing a lorry to go into the back of her , turns out after mechanic report the car had an oil leak and has been patched up with wrong sealant causing it to gradually lose all its oil and has completely burnt the engine out due to losing all its oil , the car also shows faults with exhaust which going on past MOT has had issues but this company somehow passed the MOT with not one fault and when called they told me they would have fixed everything prior to MOT but can’t show proof , this is a company risking people’s safety to save money be very wary of them as they will tell you we’ve got 40 years as a family business but really they have 40 years of ripping people off , this is now a fight with finance and solicitors and I will make this public on every social media I have to my disposal, stay well clear if you want to be safe. Anyone want photos or mechanic report feel free to ask and I will be uploading to all social media this company is advertising on

The proof is in the pudding (MOT) as they say!
So I've waited a year to leave a review until I re MOT'd the Ford Galaxy I bought from Glenfield Cars of Kilmarnock. So I was happy with the service at the time of purchase, the car had a new***MOT WITH NO ADVISORIES***!!!
4324 miles and 1 year later?
***IT FAILED***
And boy did it fail!
Near side tyre at limit. Advisory
Offside tyre at limit. Advisory
Nearside disc at limit. Advisory

Offside wheel bearing. FAIL

Nearside front coil broken. FAIL

Offside front service brake, fluctuating excessively. FAIL.

Offside rear service brake, fluctuating. Advisory.
So I now await to see how much this is going to cost me and if it'll be worth getting it fixed!
All this from a new MOT with no advisories and 4 thousands miles a year later this!!!
I'll update review when I get a price from the local garage.
Just under £600 for my troubles. 🫤

I will never recommend this company!

I am not sure how this company is still running. The previous low star reviews basically mirror my experience, except I was lucky enough my finance company resolved it in the end, collecting the car, refunding my payments and taking on the garage themselves to recover the funds after they sold a faulty car and then refused to fix it after months of promising to.

The stress and upset this caused, the abuse received from the horrible staff was completely unnecessary. The best way I can describe their behaviour is cowboys.

Best garage by a mile!

I have to say, as a female I'm always apprehensive about garages as had the worst experience over 5 months with my previous car at Newmilns Motors.
I know zero about cars, but....... this garage and staff are Amazing!! Bought my Peugeout in May, had an issue with a safety management light, phoned, car booked in, sorted and car valeted, I cannot speak highly enough of the men that work here. Helpful, professional, totally put me at ease. The best garage for me, my partner, and all my family/friends. Highly recommended, 😊

Quite a few issues with the car I…

Quite a few issues with the car I picked, their cars come with a service and a full years MOT, the folks at Glenfield did not know for sure if the timing belt had been replaced when it was due, they were worried about some tensioner noise so they replaced the timing belt kit as they did the service, when they had the car up they also replaced a wishbone that had a lot of play.

I must admit that I was a bit anxious as they updated me with the situation and informed me that they had to take a bit more time. It's been two months and no issues with the car. Happy with the service and they also phoned a few weeks after I brought it home to check if I was happy with it.

All in a good experience

All in a good experience, Glenfield took the time to help me pick a model that suited my needs, later an issue with the alternator not charging the battery but they just booked it in and fixed.

Bought a car from here in February and…

Bought a car from here in February and it’s been in the garage more often than not, had problem after problem ever since. To start when you buy a car from here they don’t bring you out to give you a look and talk through of it, they hand you the keys and leave you to find it with no talk through. The first problem I noticed with the car was the air con not working, did all the usual checks on coolant etc but couldn’t find the cause. The air con blew out hot air and when reaching out about this I got told they won’t accept any liability for this as the car is over 5 years old then got ignored. The second problem was out of nowhere the car started leaning to one side on the tyre, took it to the garage to be shown severely rusty coil springs which all needed replaced along with a tyre and a few other things. After a large bill I got the car back. A few weeks later (still with hot AC in the middle of summer) I was driving along a motorway when the car came to a complete stop and just wouldn’t turn on again, now surprise surprise it’s back in the garage again. AVOID!

Be very wary.

Bought a Peugeot RCZ on 3rd Jun and rather silly, I left with them promising to tax the car as I was on my way home. Long story short, 2 weeks later it's finally taxed albeit I had to cough up the dosh, proving to me they hadn't tried to tax it before then and I'm still awaiting the V5 in my name.. today 33 days later and minimum miles travelled, I booked the car in for a service (couldn't get it earlier ) and the mechanic takes me to the car and shows me that BOTH front springs were broken at the bottom, the last couple of inches only so ride height not compromised. One side clearly a lot older than the other. I'm not gonna phone Glenfield. I'm outwith the 30 days and doubt any help at all. BUT, this is a car that shows a Pre Delivery Inspection and a Full MOT on collection....!!!! My advice is pay only when you know all paperwork is complete and get an independent service ASAP within the 30 days. Or Avoid em.

Poor customer service!!!!

Went to view a car today. On the phone they were “gonna see if they could get it out for a test drive” when we arrive no one came over to us we had to go knock on the door. We told them what we were here to see and they just handed up the keys. Went over to the car ourselves had a look around and discovered a puncture and no coolant. We went back over to reception and explained to them that for us to text drive it this would need fixed. Long story short they were just not interested. NO customer service skill. No interest. Basically couldn’t care less. I handed the keys back and said forget and left. After travelling 45minutes. Absolute waste of time!

Just hope you buy a perfect car with no faults.

Just hope there is nothing wrong with the car if bought from Glenfield of Kilmarnock because their tactics are to drag it on for months and just hope you go away, not one of the great reviews they have will make a blind bit of difference if you buy a duffer as their customer care is terrible, so if you purchase a car and there is a problem expect to be totally ignored, you have been warned.

VW Golf

All smooth, go a Golf 75k miles with service history and had a full MOT included. Some minor things had to be fixed for passing but they sorted it out.
