Reading the below reviews it's made me …

Reading the below reviews it's made me even more concerned about the lack of progress on my current claim.

Having paid £30 for 12 days holiday insurance for 2, I was unfortunate enough to fall ill and require an Hungarian doctor. I rang the underwriting company to ensure I had cover, and they confirmed I did. The claim is for under £250.

It seems they are always receiving unusually high volumes of work as I have also just received this excuse. Perhaps more operational decisions to hire more staff need to occur.

It is most frustrating that you have to fill out a request for a claim form that is almost as long as the claim form itself. You'd think the information at this point would be enough, however, I received the 8 page claim form with none of my already given accident circumstances pre-filled in the relevant boxes (yet other certain random elements where pre-filled, so these capabilities must exist.)

I get the overall impression the company doesn't want you to claim. The communication is non-existent, the lack of empathy that they are holding up your claim is very apparent. No attempt has been made to manage my expectations, so I have been given NO indication of when they may decide to settle my claim.

I have raised a formal complaint- by the looks of the reviews here, and the volumes they probably expect, I'll be waiting a while for that to be processed too.

Procedures rank higher than life

My Husband was taken on holiday, and was admitted to hospital. global Response did nothing. on day 8 they asked for medical records. So a seriously ill person was left hanging for 8 days, no repatriation, thanks god for the E111 card.
it was day 12 that they finally accepted responsibility and brought my husband home on day 16.
As I was having to ring them all the time for updates, [procedure is more important than a life] I was told to stop ringing as I was delaying things.

When I requested to speak to a manager or their manager I was told there isn't any.

During the time in hospital, my husband became critical and could not travel, until the hospital could control the problem, but global Response did not care 1 hoot, they had no compassion, no empathy, in fact i would go as far as saying they just don't care.

Absolutely diabolical

Absolutely diabolical. They have made no attempt to contact me regarding my claim whatsoever. I have had to phone up for updates over and over again. I sent in all of the relevant paperwork, they lost a page. Now two months later they have finally approved payment but their excuse is they are waiting for a invoice payment from the underwriters and it shouldn't take too much longer. Seriously, how long does it take?

Absolute tosh.

I gave one star because there was not …

I gave one star because there was not an option for 'no' stars.

Its Ironic that with a name like 'Global Response' ...they simple give no response at all!

I have a small claim for lost flight due to illness and so far its been 3 months. I have to call them and ask and each time they say "we have only just uploaded things to the claim or "we are extremely busy during the summer for some unknown reason....... Hey wait a minute, could that because you are handling Travel claims?

And after my latest phone call (3 months after first claim) they have the cheek to say "The hurricane has caused delays"....... I think you will find Hurricane Irma was in September not July, or August!

A joke

A joke!
I lodged my claim in September 2016 and it is now June 2017.
I am still awaiting my settlement that was finally confirmed over a month ago.
I receive no contact with information re claim unless I contact them first. It's as if they don't do anything and just leave your claim on the back burner until you complain and then they actually start doing something, but only then.

My claim is so Straight forward and minuscule claim compared to others.
My tent flooded on holiday, due to the campsite not putting it up properly, my things got ruined. It's a few hundred pounds damage.

When I complain about the service and ask for someone else to contact, I am ignored. My issue is never addressed.
Their response to My last complaint (as I hadn't heard anything for 5 weeks) was them sending me an email update of my claim.....from 5 weeks previously! So basically they had done nothing with my claim for 5 weeks nor did they contact me at all during that 5 weeks and I had to prompt them to contact me!

Lodged my claim and didn't hear back for ages.
I've had to resend everything multiple times, pass on information again.
Ask the same thing over and over before getting an answer.
Prompt the company to get a response regarding the progress of my claim, constantly.
Ask for legitimate documents on letterhead, not just someone's word via email.
Ask for specific details, ie. When will I receive settlement, how much will I receive, what is settlement covering etc.

It's honestly a joke, it's pushing on a year now since this began. Is it a legitimate company because I'm just being given the run around.

I recently broke my hip and spent 10 days in Malaga Vithos private hospital. The service provided by the Spanish department of Global response was fantastic. They provided an English speaking Spanish nurse to call me every day and made sure everything was going to plan and that I understaood what was happening. When I left they arranged private cars and business class flights all the way to my home in England.
The refund / payments were all settled inside 10days.
I will definitely use this firm again for my health insurance and recommend them highly. 11 out of 10 excellent service all round.

Don't buy an insurance from Global …

Don't buy an insurance from Global Response, they will never pay any claim and will never honour the insurance contract.

I had the very unpleasant experience to deal with the Global response Travel Claims Department in the context of a straightforward claim (that any serious insurance company would pay in a fraction of a second) and I have to say that I found them very unprofessional, ignorant, to the verge of negligence, and abusive. The only reason I didn't report them to the authority is because I didn't have time to waist, but I am sure that a judge would consider their behaviour "abusive" in a potential court proceeding, based on the actual jurisprudence on the matter for similar cases.

Avoid like the plague!

I took an annual travel insurance policy through Debenhams last year. Unfortunately I had to cancel my trip due to a severe illness in my family. I was informed by global response that I could claim providing I renewed the policy with them for the following year. This wasn't the case! They refused to settle my claim and they only responded after my 14 day cooling off period when they promised a response within 5-7 days so I couldn't cancel my new policy. They don't communicate and never respond when they say they will. Terrible terrible company and I wouldn't want anyone else experiencing the service I received. I submitted my claim in January and 10 weeks later I'm still having to chase them up!! Avoid at all costs!

Lack of communication and evasive

Beware read all reviews on this company. They will not assist you in fact they will go out of their way to make your claim as difficult as possible. When you are injured abroad you need help and support in my experience this will not happen with this company so please avoid

Unacceptable Support and Service

My mother and father bought a free spirit travel insurance policy handled by Global Response, paying the additional premium to ensure "SuperDuper Cover" for all pre-existing medical conditions (my father is diagnosed with MS). A week ago, after suffering a seizure on a cruise ship and treatment in hospital on the Faroe Islands they immediately contacted the insurance company to advise of the incident and seek advice. The following events are a catalogue of failures:

Timeline:
Wednesday 27th April - Seizure Occurred and admittance to hospital

Thursday 28th April- Documents were completed within an hour of receipt and returned to the claims team - receipt was confirmed. Discharged from hospital

Friday 29th April (pm) - They called the Global Response team to check status of travel arrangements they were advised their GP requires £30 to prepare a report and the claim would not progress until this was paid. This payment had to be made by my parents... and yet they only found out about the payment by chasing status of the claim!!!. Following a number of phone calls to the GP the report was sent. The claims advisor (Camilla) then assured my parents an underwriter would be looking at the claim Friday afternoon or over the weekend - assuring them there would be 24 hour cover (even though it was a bank holiday weekend).

Saturday 30th April (am) - Claims advisor (Jennie) informed my parents that there WAS NOT 24 hour underwriting cover and this information was incorrect. As a result they were stranded in the Faroe Islands until Tuesday 3rd May at the earliest.

My father was discharged from hospital care on Friday 29th April, the hospital fortunately have so far allowed him to stay there, he is in a wheelchair and the hilly landscape of the town limits any movement beyond the hospital grounds. A call has been made everyday since to chase the status of the claim and to action arrangements for their return home.

Wednesday 4th May - the claim has finally been approved by the underwriter... only to be told that Global Response are unable to provide a Doctor to escort them on the flight home.

They are STILL stranded in the Faroe Islands 1 week on with no information or date for their return.

In Summary - for 1 WEEK they have been left in the hospital, with limited luggage, disjointed and inaccurate communication, incompetent claim handlers and an entirely unacceptable service.

So Global Response please do explain your definition of PEACE OF MIND for travellers as you certainly haven't delivered that for my parents.
