GO Outdoors - York Vangarde Reviews 

Poor. This is one of the biggest Go Outdoors in the country, yet they were out of stock for three of the items I wanted to purchase, including boots, fleece and trousers. Inaddition, I wanted to try on two tee-shirts and the fitting rooms were looked. A bell notification system was in place to request the attendance of a member of staff to unlock them. Myself and another customer pressed it and waited ten minutes, no member of staff appeared. We went looking for one and found two busy having a good old chat, one with an ear piece in. When I explained we'd pressed the buzzer and no one had appeared after a considerable time the staff member claimed the earpiece wasn't working correctly. First World problems, I know, but from a customer service perspective its poor and shoddy. Not impressed and I won't hurry back.

Had a great experience. I love this modern store and think it's great. I would like to say a big thanks to Chris who was working today, he helped me out on footwear as I was looking for a new pair of walking boots. Chris is very knowledgeable about walking boots and was very helpful. He made great suggestions and told me what to look out for. We tried on a few sizes and styles and came to a pair Merrells which I was very happy with. Thanks Chris for being very helpful and polite.

Just been in store to buy some new walking footwear and would like to say a huge thank you to Mark who was working on that department. His level of knowledge, customer service and overall helpfulness was a joy to experience! What a fabulous member of staff…..well done Mark

went in here last week to buy fishing gear. I would like to give a big shout out to "CALLUM", who despite having to deal with the customer before us, who was rude beyond belief over 50p which was being sorted out, believe this was beyond Cullum's experience or training, but he called a supervisor who took over and was very helpful with Callum.
Anyway he dealt with our enquiry gave us great advice and we brought the reel I was after. Again big thank you to the staff, ho and if you have time get a coffee and cake in the café downstairs, its all very nice.

Katie was a wealth of knowledge who new all the answers to my enquiries without hesitation

I hand a rip in a Vango Icarus tent, the return was handled by “ Bethany” who was splendid.

The tent was replaced, and it was all handled brilliantly by “Bethany”.

I would have no hesitation on using Go Outdoors York as my main camping outlet.

I visited Go Outdoors, York to mainly look for clothes, however I found myself at the trainer wall looking for a new pair of running trainers.
I heard one of the workers (Mark) speaking to another customer about trainers and he seemed very helpful.
Mark asked me if I needed any help and I told him I've been suffering with plantar fasciitis. He was so helpful, showed me a selection of trainers that would be suitable for my feet and explained the reasons why. He also gave me the pros and cons of each different trainer. I ended up purchasing a new pair of ASICS, I couldn't recommend Mark enough as he clearly wanted to help and was very knowledgeable. I then got served by Erin who was also very lovely and we were discussing the trainers I had bought. Overall a fab experience!

I ordered two items on the 21st May to be delivered to my local Go Outdoors store for Click and Collect. At point of purchase was advised delivery would be 28/29th May but would be advised either by email or text when they were ready. On the 1st June I got an email asking for feedback about the order. As I had never been notified of there arrival I went into the store at Vanguard, York. The parcels had arrived and were waiting on the shelf. No one could explain why I had not be advised they were ready for collection.

Great value and good price with membership

Love this shop! Great layout, not too cluttered, really friendly helpful staff and a wide selection of goods. Shout out to Clive who advised me on gas bottles when I was a bit bamboozled!

I recently had a great experience with Go Outdoors. The store offered a wide range of outdoor clothing, camping equipment, and hiking gear at competitive prices. The staff were friendly. Trevor was knowledgeable, and willing to help me find exactly what I needed. The store was well-organized, making it easy to browse different products and compare options.

Returning to riding after an injury is never easy, so a session on the mechanical horse seemed a good opportunity to check strength and flexibility. Really enjoyed the experience and Carys who operated the horse was excellent. Great feedback on position etc. and two rider printouts. Thoroughly recommended. Excellent value for money. Thanks Carys for your patience and helping us to navigate the on screen system. Much appreciated!

Ordering online for click and collect not reliable. Seems the team were struggling to sort through the inventory due to the volume. Friendly team and ultimately the issue was resolved although the item I ordered is now available but I already have an alternative item so am waiting to see if the original order is refunded.

Not exactly sure which 'Go Outdoors' purchase this review request this refers to! I recently bought two pairs of Peter Storm trainers online. They came quickly and the first pair, cheap kickarounds, have covered many comfortable miles over the last couple of weeks. The second, waterproof walking shoes, have only been tried on so far, so I can't really comment. The other experience it might refer to was in the York town centre branch where two very helpful staff supplied me with a new walking pole tip to stop me clattering and slipping over the cobbles on the newly exposed metal tip of my pole.
