Nothing received
Signed up to MCN as I would love to have it delivered every week, so far not a single issue has even arrived, nevermind late. Will cancel asap
A new low in customer service
Took out a subscription to Country Walking Magazine in order to get the OS Maps discount which is now not available due to a discreet change to the T’s & C’s. Incredibly unhelpful and unsympathetic but astute enough to try and lock me into a recurring subscription so I followed the complaints procedure and am now being ignored. Tried ringing and the poor staff just don’t understand what I’m trying to tell them. I would suggest that you avoid this company like the plague.
SCAM Charged three times in 9 days
I ordered a single digital issue last week and didn't receive it as the site was down for maintenance. I was charged 99p but haven't had access to the issue.
The moment the site come back up though I was charged a second time for £3.99. The site is saying that I was only charged 99p but bank statements and emails say otherwise. Not happy. Also, the site isn't clear on how to cancel subscriptions. Though how you're meant to do that when the site is down anyway, I have no idea.
Just avoid them, don't bother. Better to make the trip to the shop to get the issue you want.
*UPDATE* It gets worse; now being told that I can't cancel as they signed me up for a 12-month sub instead of the single issue I selected on checkout. This is actively going against consumer laws given there's a 14-day minimum grace period and they were contacted well within that time range. Had to go through my bank to cancel further payments and will have to contact them again to dispute the charges for something I haven't got access to.
*UPDATE 2.0* Charged me again 3 days later whilst claiming they refunded me for 1 of the charges. I have the bank statements that say otherwise. SCAM ARTISTS!
I tried to enter a competition
I tried to enter a competition, closing date is the 20th April. Other competitions appeared but not this one and this was the only way to enter.
I have tried numerous ways of contacting them asking what I should do to enter, Contacting them initially I had Mail Daemon saying my email address had been blocked - for asking a simple question!!!! Then EVERY single one since has said "sorry, not our department"

Can't login into my account says i dont have any subscription
You have to wait a little bit longer
You have to wait a little bit longer, but I received the magazine and I am happy. I don't know why everyone is so negative about this company.
I have used Great Magazines for a gift…
I have used Great Magazines for a gift subscription for a number of years. I decided to renew this after receiving a reminder letter in post. Unfortunately, I was unable to do this online as it stated that the promotion had expired despite it stating it was valid for 15-days from the date of the letter 15-Feb.
So I had to call Great Magazines. I'm not too sure the call centre is located in Market Harborough. The call centre analyst placed me on-hold after each question. Stated they accepted AMEX which then turned out they didn't. The whole process took about 15 mins which I will never get back.
I am a brand new customer, and already they are ghosting me.
Started up a new subscription with this company. Waited for the arrival of my first magazine issue, but it didn't arrive. Contacted the company through their contact email page, and so far after nearly a week, i have had no response. I have sent them an email again today, then came here to check the reviews. Clearly this company is used to treating customers like dirt, as everyone seems to be leaving 1 star. I am going to cancel my subscription after coming here and reading the reviews.
Beware automatic renewal with no review
I bought a gift subscription and after a year they automatically renewed it without giving me the opportunity to cancel. They just took the money from my credit card. I had e-mailed previously to cancel my subscriptions but they ignored this and will not issue a refund.
Their terms and conditions also state that they should give 10 working days notice if the subscription amount will change. They increased from £52 to £70 without any notification.
Auto-renewal of subscriptions
They auto-renew subscriptions with no reminder and no alternative. Unfair practice in my opinion. It's very easy to forget for a year & then you can't get a refund.
Good Luck Cancelling
Though magazine delivery has been satisfactory, managing subscriptions is extremely difficult. The online portal is particularly deceptive and you can do everything but cancel a subscription. The FAQ is just as bad, all clear and useful answers EXCEPT how to cancel.
If you can get a prepaid subscription / one off purchase then I would recommend that over an ongoing direct debit.
2nd year of trying to buy a digital…
2nd year of trying to buy a digital gift subscription - what a shambles and the customer service are polite but useless. Last year it took 2 months to sort out the fact that I had bought the subscription but my husband couldn't access it. This year, its even more of a farce - they confirmed the purchase online, they debited my account then sent me an email saying the order had failed - can I get my money back? - erm not without a fight because they have no record of my order online. Honestly - its not worth the effort anymore
Crap service with a capital C
Appalling service. Take the money 2 months early, then refuse to stop the magazines. My husband wanted a different magazine but they took my sons money early and refused to reimburse. The guy he spoke to was giving him the speil. My son refused to name him to me - personally I am not so charitable I want him to loose his job. They are a rubbish company. I wouldnt give them any stars but you have no f-----g choice. Dont they know theres a recession on?.
If I treated my patients like this as a nurse I would be sacked immediately. I will be writing to the Mail about this. Thanks for nothing.
Took out an introductory trial…
Took out an introductory trial subscription not realising it was for a minimum term of 12 months. Had I have known about this I would not have gone ahead with the trial. Now the cost of living crisis has hit I'm being told i can't cancel.
They do not make it clear that there is a twelve month minimum subscription.
Please avoid this company, especially in this present financial climate.
Do not consider taking out a trial…
Do not consider taking out a trial subscription. I requested several times that my trial subscription be cancelled, but my messages were ignored and a further payment was taken out of my account 10 days later. Upon complaining I was told that I was now tied in to a 12 month subscription. Responses to follow up emails are standard copy and paste efforts. Thankfully PayPal refunded me and have blocked any further payments from this unscrupulous company.
Really difficult to cancel
Can't change direct debit online, have to call to cancel subscriptions and when you do you're still locked in for 6 months, my last payment was August and I'm still locked into April. Go figure that math! Do not use, do not buy as a gift.
Customer for many years, refused to refund a one-off card payment
Customer for many years (2015 was my first subscription). Manually renewed for another year via credit card payment, then the next day changed my mind and contacted them to cancel. They refused a refund, charged my card AND cancelled the subscription. After some back and forth getting nowhere I ended up having to cite distance selling regulations and a mention of querying the charge with my credit card provider. Eventually a senior member of the customer services team "allowed" me to be refunded, as is my right and the law. Quality magazine content and writers let down my shady practices of their parent company. I shall not buy another subscription from them again and in the future will stick to properly run businesses such as Dalesman.
Refuse to refund
I had two subscriptions that started at different times of the year. When the first one was due to end, they contacted me to offer a renewal price. Needless to say, I was expecting similar contact when the other was due to renew as I wished to cancel. During the period of this subscription they extended the renewal date on two separate occasions due to issues with quality, so I had no idea of the actual renewal date. They took the debit without any notice and when I queried it, they refused to refund and said they will cancel it but continue to deliver until 2023. So they think it's fine to send you a renewal notification for one subscription, but not the other and then claim it's your fault for not knowing when your twice moved end date is that they haven't told you about. If I could give less than a star, I would.
Woeful company. Be very wary of taking out any subscription with them
I’ve subscribed to Mojo music magazine for several years. But now I’ve cancelled my subscription I can no longer access past issues which I’ve paid for. Communication with Great magazines is pointless. They don’t bother to read my emails and are only interested in me resubscribing. A truly dreadful company as highlighted by all the other posts on this site. They deserve no stars.
Sadly, very poor delivery.
Sadly, the reliability of the delivery , is now , almost non existent.
It is a tv magazine, that runs from Saturday to Friday.
Is regularly late, this week turned up on Tuesday.
The week is almost half way through, consequently, a complete waste of time.
Made contact, no use whatsoever, they just want your money, and do not seem to care about delivering the goods.
