Have been a fan of G&B 70% for many years & sadly the quality has gone downhill rapidly. There is no hit of cocoa anymore & it tastes synthetic & waxy, almost with a hint of ginger?? Such a shame G&B... See more

Information provided by various external sources
Green & Black’s was founded on the Portobello Road by husband and wife team Craig Sams & Jo Fairley. In 1991 Craig was sent a sample of chocolate by a peanut supplier. Lifetime chocoholic Jo later discovered the chocolate unattended and promptly ate it. She’d never tasted anything quite like it and was sure other chocolate fanatics would feel the same! And with that, the couple began making delicious chocolate

Buyers beware
I bought a bar of your new organic Smooth 50% chocolate as it was on offer and I thought it would be worth trying. What an utter disappointment, it tastes like cheap cooking chocolate and was so unpleasant I threw half the bar away. I can't believe this substandard product has passed taste tests and hit the shelves, I can't see anyone enjoying it.
Useful Chat line - quick and easy
I used the Cadbury /Green & Blacks chatline to ask a question about Green & Black's Ice cream. Becky was very helpful in responding to my query.

Great Easter Service
Last minute Easter gift purchase. Really happy that delivery should still be on time if ordered by 4pm. Did not receive order confirmation so got a little concerned. Joined the customer service chat facility - only 3 in the queue and response was within 10 minutes. Really helpful chat with Beck Dobson who sorted everything out.
Super quick response .....
Very helpful and thanks to Becky Dobson for a super quick response to my enquiry
Really helpful
Really helpful, polite and assisted me with my query in a speedy manner. Thank you Becky Dobson
Appalling…
I contacted Green &Blacks head office after suffering a severe adverse reaction in my health after eating a little chocolate from their selection box. Head office were apathetic in dealing with my query and I was utterly flabbergasted at their failure to offer a refund in the circumstances. I have just read how toxic this brand of chocolate actually is. I shall be notifying Waitrose where I purchased it; I’m sure they will pull it off their shelves. For those who like quality dark chocolate, I would steer well clear of Green & Blacks; this is certainly not chocolate at its best.
I am shocked to discover today
I am shocked to discover today, that your brand of dark chocolate is in fact very toxic. A recent report has found your Organic Dark Chocolate 70% Cacao - 43% over for lead and 81% over for cadmium. Appalling, especially as this was a favourite of mine and my daughter and I would not have touch it with a badge pole if I had known the facts. I will consider now what action is to be taken against Cadburys who own Green and Blacks.
Received the G&B Organic Tasting…
Received the G&B Organic Tasting Collection as a gift. I have also purchased this box as a gift for other people in the past. Will not be doing so again. I keep thinking the next one I try will be different (i.e. I will like it) but quite honestly it is just so disappointing. Can hardly taste the ginger, almonds, hazelnuts or toffee - each little bar tastes the same. And as for the white one which says contains "vanilla pods gently dried in the Madagascan sun", what vanilla pods? Can't taste vanilla at all. They are often on special offer - now I know why - who would pay full price for these? Most disappointing.
I got a box of Green and Black's…
I got a box of Green and Black's organic tasting collection for Christmas.
Ohhhh my god, the best chocolates I have ever had.
Usually go for Black Magic but these out do them a hundred fould.
I would highly recommend them.
Maybe add a coffee for 5 plus stars ha ha.
I just tried Green & Blacks new…
I just tried Green & Blacks new "Smooth" chocolate. Supposedly it's dark chocolate for those who find dark chocolate too bitter. I like dark chocolate, so I'm not sure why I bought it. It tastes like that awful bourneville chocolate. It's way too sweet, one of the worst chocolate bars I've ever eaten, a 90gram cure for binge eating, Id rather be in human centipede with a hershey bar up front...dunno what we'd have at the back, a war criminal I guess
Bah Humbug Green Black Scrooge Winter Tin 6 Chocs Short
Green Black Winter tin given to me for Christmas. Should contain 27 choc bars. Tin contained 21 bars & was badly sellotaped around edge. The giver hadn't tampered with them, so something gone wrong somewhere. Frankly, the 21 bars are pretty dismal. G&B haven't kept up. The chocolate world has moved on. G&B have become the connoisseurs Cadbury. Last choice, not first. Irony of ironies. Ghastly. Look elsewhere.
I can't vouch for the chocolate taste…
I can't vouch for the chocolate taste as I bought a hamper for a client - sadly neither can my client as still waiting delivery! I used the on-line chat and Becky Dobson was really apologetic and immediately gave me the delivery cost refund. They are at the mercy of DPD.
Horrible
Very disappointed after tasting the Green & Black's Smooth. The chocolate is hard and it hurt my finger to break off a piece.
I can compare the quality to a supermarket's 35p chocolate, with the same size.
Apart from this..they still use soy lecithin.. it's time to evolve, many other companies producing organic chocolate already switched to the much healthier sunflower lecithin.
I had a rather complicated issue…
I had a rather complicated issue regarding delivery. Becky was friendly and resolved this quickly for me. Their online ‘chat ‘ system is very good and so much better than having to wait on a response via email.
Ghastly disappointment
The whole experience of my normal after dinner treat was so disappointing. I love G&Bs velvet edition dark chocolate mint, & having not been able to buy any for the past few weeks, I then found the new pack ofG&Bs
Smooth mint organic. The taste has totally changed, it is only 50%.cocoa, instead of 70% for the original., & it is horribly sweet, far more sugar 47g per 100g instead of 27g per 100g for the original. It is ghastly & tastes like cheap chocolate, not the superb sophisticated bitter taste previously. How to ruin a well loved brand! I will not be purchasing your chocolate
again
Reduction in Chocolate Quantity and Quality
Ever since the Kraft Corporation of America gobbled up Green and Blacks the quality and quantity of their chocolate has taken a hit. 100 gram bars now 90 grams and the chocolate is rather ordinary in flavour. Back to the Swiss Lindt for me.
Too sweet and a bit claggy
Too sweet and a bit claggy. Used to be nice, now it’s just another product leaning on reputation to sell mediocrity.
