Excellent service from Chris
Chris was polite. Good communication to let us know he was on his way to us in Salisbury. He fitted our car battery swiftly and let us know when he'd finished. Very impressed with his work.

Avoid, AVOID, AVOID!!!
I booked online for a battery fitting at home for the next day, payment was taken via gift voucher. Cancelled appointments and waited in the next day. About 11am I tried to contact someone as I hadn't received a confirmation. Live chat, no agents available due to cold weather, the same in the phone lines.
My partner called the complaints line and managed to arrange someone to call me. She said there had been an error on there end and no one would be coming out. No apology or solution offered. I explained that I have a disabled daughter who I needed to be able to get to appointments the next day. She said I could rebook if I paid again but that they wouldn't be able to come for at least 3 days.
She checked the gift voucher and could see payment had been made but expected me to pay again, she said I would receive a call the next day. I didn't receive a call.
They called my partner even though they have my number and email then wouldn't talk to him because he's not me. I called back, someone said he would tell the fiance team to approve the refund and they would call me.
No one has called or emailed, no one has apologised.
There are no available email addresses to send a formal written complaint! They all bounce back.
Terrible service - avoid!
Excellent Yuasa battery and outstanding mobile installation
This review is for Halfords suppling and installing Yusa HSB110 12v battery in February 2015 and the follow up in January 2026.
I was having difficulties in coping with recent cold weather.
Well done Halfords in suppling and installing such an excellent battery well exceeding its five year guarantee!
Clint their expert (perhaps from Billingshurst or Worthing) arrived on time to check our system and decide if the battery must now be replaced.
Clive was outstandingly friendly understanding and helpful. On a very cold day he brought cheer and sunshine into our lives....... thankyou.
We mentioned that an expensive Lithium battery jump starter did not work at all!
An AA Intelligent Charger had "repaired" the battery and showed it to be fully charged. Sadly after five unsuccessful turns of the starter motor the engine failed to get going.
Clive explained that the jump starter and intelligent charger may not always work or be accurate when there was a serious battery fault.
Agreed to go ahead with the installation of another Yuasa battery as the first had provided a much longer life than the original 2009 Landrover one!
Now have an engine that is starting with enthusiasm at the first push.
Bonus points for Halfords doing a comprehensive quality survey. (Reference A977B007576) but was intending to write this first. Hope it is to the correct link!
Service wasn't provided - was still charged
Booked in for a battery replacement. The technician arrived, said he was new and didn't feel comfortable doing it without supervisor. Was still charged for the call out.
Flat battery
Had a flat battery due to car not being used during a period of bad weather with snow and freezing temperatures. Found out that Halfords undertook mobile battery fitting. Booked online and they gave me a date with a 4 hour window. Received reminders too. All very efficient. Adam rang when he was on his way and soon had the new battery fitted and the car running again. Would certainly recommend. Excellent service.
The mobile expert Joey
The mobile expert Joey, came to fit a new battery for my Mercedes. He was very friendly. We talked about the awful weather and plans for the Summer holiday whilst he was changing the battery. He was gentle and fitted the new battery putting every nut and screw back in place. Very pleased with is attitude and work.
Cancelled my tyre fitting at appointment time
Booked a mobile tyre fitting for before my Mot the following day, took time off work to be home, they cancelled at the time they were supposed to be fitting. I’ve called customer service and have asked for someone else to possibly come out this evening, and they’ve just told me they can’t reach the hub??
I’ve then proceeded to ask for a refund so I can get them replaced else where and I’ve been told that the person who was fitting the tyres has not cancelled the appointment on the system and so they can’t.
Wheels weren't balanced
Mobile tyre fitter didnt balance any of the wheel I had tyres fitted too and I was told to take them to another garage
A sudden shift to excellence
Not a whole lot of 5 stars in here and to be honest the tyre fitting I ordered for Saturday didn’t go to plan. But I got a call from them in the evening explaining how something happened with the van that was supposed to come out and promised a follow up call for Sunday morning. I was half expecting nothing to happen but, even though they woke me up on Sunday at 8am, Dave called me to reassure me, the job will go ahead same day. Was just past 10am when a lovely bloke knocked the door with his huge van parked outside and before you know it, he was on it to replace the 4 tyres. Swift job, good chat about the tyres, the weather, a lovely, knowledgeable bloke.
Before lunch we could go shopping and there we are, when things unexpectedly happen, what matters is, the way you handle the situation. This applies to both customer and the employees at the other end.
Well done Halfords and the team, specially to the bloke who has to go and do the job at -3degC on a Sunday.
Booked a mobile repair
Booked a mobile repair, The apparent expert they sent was arrogant. Whilst watching him he was trying to get the locking wheel nut off and stood on the breaker bar to try and remove it. Resulting in a snapped locking wheel nut. Made a complaint to hu. Manager lloyd Mills who states I'm a liar and that's not how they're so called experts and trained. So be careful any damaged done to your vehicle. It's never their fault it's yours. Useless company will never use again
⭐ 1 Star – Unfair £48 Cancellation Fee (Now in Credit Card Dispute)

My daughter booked a mobile tyre fitting on 15 December at 2:00pm, with the appointment scheduled for the following day between 6–8pm. Due to her NHS work commitments, she cancelled the booking as soon as their phone lines opened at 8:00am on 16 December, giving well over 24 hours’ notice.
No engineer attended. No work was carried out. No service was provided.
Despite this, Halfords refunded the payment minus a £48 “cancellation fee.” This charge was not clearly disclosed at the time of booking, not set out in the confirmation email, and not explained when cancelling. No breakdown of costs has been provided.
Charging £48 after a timely cancellation, with no service delivered, is unreasonable. Halfords have refused to refund the fee, so we are now disputing the charge with our credit card provider.
This feels like a hidden penalty rather than a fair cancellation policy. I would strongly advise others to be cautious before booking.
Dreadful - avoid at all costs. Never again.
Dreadful. Ordered 4 new all season tyres to be fitted. Wheels were in perfect condition before hand. The front nearside wheel is now buckled and the rear nearside has a large scratch on it. Looks like the fitter levered against the rim lip. I had cleaned the alloys the day before the fitting and they were all in perfect condition. The rear nearside is also scratched which was not there before. Update - I had a call on the 2nd January and was told to email details and pictures of the damage to Leighton.hub for the attention of Kevin or Jason. Have heard nothing since (it's now the 14th January) - not even an acknowledgement. Quite frankly, the worst company I've ever dealt with...
Halfords cancelled a booked appointment
Booked a tyre replacement for 2 January as a lot of garages were closed, and I need my car for work on 5 January. They called the next day to say that they couldn't do it as the service was closed! Why advertise the slot?

Serious Safety Failure & Technician…
Serious Safety Failure & Technician Incompetence – Avoid This Service
I am posting this review to warn future customers after an extremely serious and dangerous failure following a tyre fitting carried out by Halfords on the Drive in November.
Two new tyres were fitted, and the service was explicitly booked and paid for to include new valves. This is a basic and essential safety requirement for any competent tyre fitting.
Just days later, one of these tyres suddenly and violently deflated whilst driving.
An inspection by an independent garage confirmed that the old valves had been reused on both tyres. This is clear evidence of technician incompetence and negligence, as valve replacement is one of the most fundamental steps in tyre fitting — especially when it has been paid for. Photographic evidence exists, and the failed valve has been retained.
The technician completed both tyres in under 20 minutes, and CCTV evidence supports that the valves were not changed at all. This strongly suggests the work was rushed, corners were cut, and essential safety procedures were ignored.
As a direct result of this failure:
A replacement tyre costing £120 had to be purchased
The remaining valve also required replacement (£20)
Unpaid wages (£80) because the vehicle was unsafe to drive for part of the day.
This is not a minor error. Reusing old valves on new tyres can and did lead to sudden air loss, putting lives at risk. This level of incompetence in safety-critical work is unacceptable from a national retailer trusted by the public.
I have completely lost confidence in Halfords’ tyre fitting service and would strongly advise customers to check their valves immediately or avoid this service altogether.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Lies lies lies. Took day off work, tyre fitter didnt show. Arrived next day, fitted 2x tyres but DID NOT FIT NEW VALVES! Also didn't balance properly. Drove van that night for work and tyre blew on A90 130miles from home, it's was the old valve. Numerous call centre calls later a depot manager called with promises of a full refund. Zero refund received. Tried calling call centre again and they'd blocked my number. If you value your life please avoid this excuse of a company at all costs as their incompetence could well be fatal
Very efficient and a polite chap
Farcical
Farcical. Postponed three times and communication was difficult. National Tyres had to refer to Halfords to find out what was going on and even though Halfords would text with regards to the appointments they told me I had to contact National Tyres.
The fitter was a lovely guy who did the job in minutes but it took over a week for that to happen. The fitters are clearly not happy with the way jobs are booked.

Harvey arrived in good time and replaced two tyres. Very good service, he was very helpful and explained the value of the new tyre vales he had fitted.
