I booked a last-minute Florida holiday after spotting a great deal, so naturally I had a few questions before going ahead. Unfortunately, the travel agent’s attitude was cold, dismissive, and left me feeling like a complete inconvenience.

She made no effort to be friendly or welcoming — not even basic small talk. When I asked a simple question about the hotel, the response was a blunt, “I haven’t been,” with no attempt to offer reassurance or look into it further.

Even though I was ready to book and just trying to get clarity on a few key details, I was made to feel like a time-waster. She even asked, “Can you call me back when you’re ready to book?” and questioned whether I had the money. When I asked about deposit options and when full payment would be due, she said, “Well, you can’t book any holiday without money.” I specifically asked what the actual deadline was for final payment, and she kept saying, “As soon as possible.” No clear date was given — which I know isn’t true, as every holiday booking has a deadline. It felt more like pressure than guidance.

The only reason I went ahead with the booking was because the deal itself was good and my children already knew about it — but what should have been an exciting experience felt rushed and uncomfortable from start to finish.

A week or so later, I had a few simple follow-up questions and contacted her via Facebook (where she actively advertises her services). I was told she only responds during business hours — which I completely understand — so I sent over the questions and asked if she could reply during her working hours. After receiving no response, I attempted to call her and got her voicemail. I then messaged again to let her know I’d just called and asked if she could ring me back when free. Instead of simply calling back, she replied saying I would need to call again and leave a voicemail specifically requesting a callback. At that point, it really felt like she was putting up barriers instead of just helping.

Having now read some of her replies to other negative feedback, I can already guess this review will be met with a sarcastic or dismissive response. It seems clear from other reviews that she refuses to acknowledge valid concerns and continues to respond defensively. But to be clear — this review isn’t for her benefit. It’s for future customers who deserve to know what kind of service they may receive. Sadly, her attitude toward customer feedback only reinforces the poor experience I had.

This was meant to be a really special, once-in-a-lifetime trip for my family. I didn’t expect a five-star concierge service, but I did expect a bit of professionalism, basic customer care, and courtesy. Unfortunately, none of that was present.

Edit - I’m not talking about the period you were on annual leave (which was in immediately after my booking), my feedback is purely based on the 2 occasions we had contact - my initial booking, and the contact we had after you returned from annual leave.
My concern isn’t about delayed responses — albeit there were some, and I would totally expect that — but rather the unhelpful and at times bizarre way our communication was handled, which often seemed to create unnecessary obstacles and further delays instead of resolving anything.

I have used Michelle for quite a few years now nothing is to much trouble for her and always happy to help with anything I look forward to booking many more holidays with Michelle in the future she is a credit to hays travel and is very professional in every way thanks for all your help once again kind regards John
