⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing service from Hays Travel Yeovil
We booked our family holiday through Hays Travel Yeovil because we believed that, if something went wrong, we'd have an experienced travel agent to support us, coordinate everything and fight our corner.
Unfortunately, that simply wasn't our experience.
Our easyJet flight to Dubrovnik was cancelled after we had already boarded because the airport runway was damaged. I want to be absolutely clear that I do not blame Hays Travel Yeovil for the cancellation itself.
What I do blame them for is the complete lack of service afterwards.
The airport was chaotic and an easyJet representative advised us to rebook immediately as hundreds of other passengers would be trying to do the same. Under pressure, we accepted the earliest available flight, which unfortunately meant losing three days of our holiday.
As soon as Hays Travel Yeovil opened the following morning (8:55am), I called and asked them to investigate every possible alternative, even if it meant travelling from another UK airport, to try and recover some of our lost holiday.
From that point onwards, we were left to do most of the work ourselves.
We had to chase Hays Travel Yeovil repeatedly for updates because nobody contacted us proactively. The explanation we kept receiving was that they were very busy dealing with customers in the shop.
I'm sorry, but when a family has just lost almost half of a £16,000 holiday, I don't think "we're busy" is an acceptable level of customer service.
Eventually, after chasing yet again, we were told there was nothing further that could be done because we had accepted the replacement flight.
Not convinced, I called easyJet myself.
Within one phone call, easyJet moved our flights from Monday morning out of Bristol to Sunday morning from Gatwick, giving our family back an entire day of our holiday.
If I could achieve that in one phone call, why couldn't my travel agent when I had specifically asked them to investigate every possible option?
Unfortunately, the poor service didn't end there.
After we had rearranged our flights ourselves, we asked Hays Travel Yeovil to amend our hire car to match our new arrival.
We waited all day.
Only a few minutes before they closed for the weekend did they call to tell us they couldn't arrange it and there was nothing they could do.
So, once again, we arranged it ourselves.
At that point, I genuinely questioned what value Hays Travel Yeovil had added to our booking.
When things were going well, they took the booking. When things went badly, we found ourselves finding alternative flights, arranging transport, arranging our own hire car and chasing updates ourselves.
To be fair, Hays Travel Yeovil did apologise after we had solved the flight problem, and I appreciate that. However, an apology after the fact doesn't make up for the lack of support when we actually needed it.
For me, the value of a travel agent is measured when things go wrong, not when everything goes smoothly.
Sadly, based on our experience, Hays Travel Yeovil fell well short of the level of service we expected. I would not book through this branch again.
Let's see if they compensate us for our missed holiday days, look out for part 2!

Me and my mum had such a fantastic experience with Fleur at the Yeovil branch. She helped us book our holiday and excursions and was absolutely brilliant from start to finish.

Fleur was extremely helpful, patient and informative, taking the time to answer all of our questions about cruises and explain everything clearly. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and she made the whole booking process feel easy and stress-free.

We really appreciated how much time and care she gave us, especially when helping us choose and book our excursions. Her knowledge and advice were so helpful and made us feel really confident and excited about our holiday.

The representative listened to what I wanted, asked questions to clarify points and made suggestions without being pushy. She also explained exactly what we were booking and why there was an extra local tax.
She also stayed calm and professional when the holiday we tried to book was not available.
Would recommend and use again.

Called into Yeovil branch yesterday late morning. Was helped by Gavin, excellent service. Booked a holiday for this Saturday, everything completed including car parking, have all tickets and documents before end of day. Such a brilliant service. Thank you

Friendly and professional staff nothing is to much trouble no pressure

Very friendly and helpful and understanding. Never lost her patience with me, although I think I might have not been easy! She was very smiley and explained everything very well. Her name is Laura and I’m going back for her to do my online check in as I’m not technically minded.
Within an hour of being home a had a call from the foreign exchange desk asking about my currency requirements.

Rachael was a fabulous help! Got everything organised super efficiently and effortlessly.

We were made to feel welcome as soon as we stepped in the door. We went to the same person who booked our previous holiday, she was very helpful and seemed to understand what we were looking for

Abi booked me for the holiday that I wanted. She also gave me a brochure of P&O s cruises for 2028 so I could make up my mind for that year.
