A Clueless and Potentially Dangerous Electrician

This review has been delayed because the contractor didn't have an online site until very recently.

On 7 December 2017, Harrison Electrical & Maintenance came round because I had some problems with my kitchen electric hob and built in oven.

THEIR CONCLUSION: there was no current flowing to the oven & hob because either the cables had melted or they had become disconnected.

THEIR REMEDY: in order to repair the cables, the bathroom floor would have to be ripped up because, according to the contractor, the oven & hob cables ran into the ceiling and under the bathroom floor. Alternatively, after some thought, the contractor suggested the existing cables could be left in situ, and new cables could be run from the consumer unit (fuse board) to the oven & hob.

We agreed on the latter course of action, and the contractor left to calculate the costs and set a date for the work to be done. Meanwhile, my wife and I had second thoughts and asked for a second opinion – thank God!

The problem (the shower and oven-hob miniature circuit breakers (mcb) had been incorrectly labelled at the consumer unit) was quickly solved by another electrical contractor: without having to rip up bathroom floor boards or pass new circuits through walls - work that would have been unnecessary and extremely expensive.

I subsequently cancelled Harrison Electrical & Maintenance.

I shall never use this contractor again: he didn't seem to have a clue about what to do, and this could have led to a very dangerous situation developing.

In conclusion, I would strongly advise anyone using Harrison Electrical & Maintenance to be - extremely wary.

You have answered your own question, the board was mislabelled. I was not trying to rip you off. I gave you my best advice based on the information I had. I was polite. I came out late at night and I spent a long time trying find the fault. Unfortunately humans miss things from time to time. Especially late at night when attending callouts after working all day. If anyone wants to take the time they will see this is the only bad review I have on yell and this guy has hounded me since. I tested the installation and from the information that was available to me Gave my best advice. Why don’t you go and bad mouth the guy that mislabelled the board in the first place. And please just leave me alone.
