Don't answer emails, Give incomplete information
I booked a hostel in Berlin for my son & friend travelling in Berlin. Nowhere in the booking details were we asked or informed that the lads had to be age 18+ to stay in the specific rooms we booked. Eventually I found this out from another website, confirmed by the hostel. The lads would have arrived at 11pm to find out they had to pay 40 euros/night more if there was even a private room available to stay in.
I sent three emails to hostelbookers (hostelworld) to try to cancel the booking; emails acknowledged but no one from hostelbookers replied. The hostel threw up hands saying "Not their problem" and cancellation had to happen via Hostelbookers only. I still don't know if I'll be able to cancel thru my son's account (fingers crossed, or we may be able to cancel via credit card company). Best scenario is I will have paid £21 for bad service & Bad Information. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY, AVOID AVOID.

We wanted to take a school trip with 60 persons And 'hired' Hostelbookers in to found us a place to stay. They worked very fast And found us the most amazing And cheap place to stay for a few days. Popped my hostel booking cherry!
I was a little nervous about booking my first hostel, but it was almost too simple.
1. Pick location, check.
2. Review my 4 options, check.
3. Curse myself for waiting too long to book Munich for Oktoberfest. CHECK.
4. Check my bank balance to afford said late booking, check.
5. Rule out camping site, expensive hotel and other random place, check.
6. Pick how many people and gender to share a "private" bathroom (quite a liberal use of that word), check.
7. Enter credit card details, check.
8. Receive confirmation email immediately, phew.
And that's how hostelbookers.com popped my cherry.

Very easy to use and good information
I found the site so easy to use and it was a good bit cheaper than if you walked through the doors of the hostel to book in. The one thing i really advise you to do is to check that the location of the hostel you are staying in is in the location you want to spend the most of your time.

Room was less expensive then same room category on a competing hostel booking website.
We were able to view all the information for the same hostels that is provided on other hostel booking websites. When comparing costs, the room quoted turn out to be less $ then it's competitors. Having an active account with HostelBookers made the booking procedure quick; easy to book online with HostelBookers.com.
