I bought this thinking life would be…

I bought this thinking life would be easier as you don't have to keep messing with the chemicals. Well, having cleaned the tub and filled it with fresh water I added 1/3 of a bottle of water conditioner then the water went cloudy. I kept putting the tablets in and after a few weeks it did clear. However it has a green ting to the water ?

I was NOT asking for advice just giving you my findings.

Hi David

Beware paying for fast delivery

Hot tub lid is great, fits well. But paid extra for the faster delivery service and it was a week later than paid for with no offer of a refund, just an excuse that they were busy!

No problems at all

No problems at all, really good range of products and all at the best prices I could find online or in stores. Delivery was free which was brilliant, although Royal Mail did seem to take forever to delivery (out of the control of the store itself though).

Extremely disappointing

Extremely disappointing. I purchased a product which didnt work as described (ECO3SPA) and so I complained. HottubsUK did forward my complaint to the ECO3SPA manufacturer, however the response was disappointing. I also reviewed ECO3SPA and the review was submitted for checks and then never appeared on the website. ECO3SPA was expensive and as it doesn't work I found an alternatie prodct. My advice don't wast your money on it!

In respose to your comment about my review. There was no mention when I purchased the product that it would not work so well with an inflatable spa. I've checked your website again - there is still no mention that it doesn't work so well with inflatable spa. Why not add this guidance so the next customer doesn't face the frustrations I did?

We followed the instructions for preparing the tub exactly. We had also already increased the dosage of tablets when the water started to smell and discolour and before I contacted you with my complaint. There was no improvement. I didn't take you up on the offer of the new tablets as I had already sourced an alternative product as I wanted to get my hot tub straight back into use again. I feel my review is a fair reflection of my experience.

Dear Kati Hedger

In response to your complaint to us on the 29th May, we replied on the 30th May stating the following:

With regards to the greenish tinge you are seeing to your tub’s water, we have had very few occurrences (less than 1%) where this has happened and is due to Step 1 - Cleaner not able to cope with all of the biofilm ‘load’ on initial introduction into the hot tub. After rinsing down and re-filling there is residual biofilm contaminating the water as soon as Step 2 is introduced and hence the cloudiness and small ‘algae bloom’ you are witnessing

Furthermore, with inflatable spas such as yours, the circulation pump is of very low suction and discharge power when compared with an acrylic spa, which means that the Step 1 – Cleaner is at risk of not working effectively within the standard timeframe of flushing your spa. For inflatable spas we recommend leaving the cleaner solution in your spa for 24hours to give it the best possible time to do its job.

In terms dealing with the issue with your water, there are two stages to deal with this:

1. Double the dosage of Step 3 tablets over a period of 2-3 days and see if that that clears the water and removes the green tinge

2. If the greenish tinge remains, then you will have to repeat Step 1 and refill with fresh water and add Stage 2 etc

Eco3spa will only work effectively when all biofilm has been removed from the hot tub.

Please remember that eco3spa is a very gentle hot tub water treatment system and will start to work effectively in a hot tub that has been thoroughly cleaned (inside and out). Hence the emphasis it places on biofilm removal, which is the source of harmful bacteria in hot tub water and even more prevalent on inflatable spas. Chlorine or Bromine do not deal with biofilm.

We have many inflatable spa owners who have been successfully using eco3spa and have been prepared to follow the above procedure.

Furthermore, we also offered to supply you, free-of-charge, some new Step 3 -sanitiser tablets that we are trialling, which have a slightly different formulation to help deal with rare occurances of excessive biofilm loading.

It appears that you chose not to follow the above procedure and, furthermore, not be prepared to accept our offer of the free sanitiser tablets, which we believe would have helped solve the problem. We therefore feel that your review is unfair and does not refelect the efforts we have made to try and solve your issue.
