Great products but I wish you have more…
Great products but I wish you have more selections and large quantity!
Excellent customer service.
Hello.
I ordered some drinks from Japan Centre but there was a problem after delivery. I tried to contact the shop by email but got no reply and I was a bit disappointed with them. However, today I used a different email address and got an immediate auto reply and within an hour the Japan Centre support team had turned my issue around in a spectacularly positive way for which they deserve my sincere thanks!
Therefore: if you are not getting any response from the email address try an alternate sending address or phone the store. Their service is excellent once communication is established.
Missing items, difficult communicate, disappointed
I use online shopping. They sent me email that the partial orders would be delivered.
That was one week ago, the rest cannot be tracked as my profile said all delivered, I have no idea where they are and when to be delivered. The way to contact help centor is not so clear. I contacted to one email, have not heard so trying another email now.
Quite surprised that they could not execute well basic tasks that local super market can do well. I hope I get money back

Rubbish sake
I ordered three bottles of sake and some snacks. They were all not as described and pretty rubbush compared with other sakes I've tried. They have reviews on their website, but when I tried to give a bad review it seemed impossible. The Japan Centre IRL is renowned for its terrible service which I think adds to its charms, but the false reviews are not acceptable IMHO.

Fantastic Company
Any issues that I have had with my orders are rectified quickly and professionally. Everything is packaged securely and economically. Just a great treat to order from!!
The best place for Japanese groceries in London
I always go to the Japan Centre at Westfield - White City (2 - 3 times per month) to do my groceries shopping from snack, bakery, sashimi to wagyu beef etc. the quality of products in store is great and the majority of them are imported from Japan. Only a few of them are not from Japan and you could easily read from their product labels to avoid non-Japanese made products.
I especially like the wine section of the store which has a comprehensive selection of different types of Japanese sake.
Besides doing my groceries shopping there, I usually have a bowl of ramen or some sashimi which are of great quality too.
Highly recommend Japan Centre for all people who love Japanese food in the UK!
Been to their white city branch
Been to their white city branch. Terrible customer service. The people in the kitchen they look at you and start gossiping around and laugh. Just because i ordered a lot of food doesn’t mean they are all for myself! No need ti laugh!
Good service and now a returning customer
I’ve ordered from Japan Centre several times and never been disappointed. My order is always correct and well packaged.
They offer more range than competitor websites and also I feel are reasonably priced considering the stock probably needs to be imported to the UK.
I keep going back to order pickled plums, daikon radish and instant miso soup. The food is nice quality and I’ve ordered a few non food items which were very good.
I’ve seen some negative reviews about delivery but the companies rely on their courier partner to do their job correctly. I’ve never had an issue with delivery so far luckily so can’t comment further on that.
Unbelievable DPD non delivery
Unbelievable! Another missed delivery.
This time I chose the delivery date but DPD still failed to deliver my order. I am Japanese living in UK since 1987 and feel so embarrassed and ashamed that the so called Japanese company like yours is driven by the cost cuts using the worst delivery company in the UK who actually don’t deliver. I am deeply sad. My last order was delivered to my local post office for pickup despite my home delivery order. It was over 10kg so I had to pay for a taxi to pick it up! This time on my chosen date DPD kept showing that my turn was next for over 4 hours on the map and at 22:00 DPD informed me they couldn’t deliver. We waited all day on our chosen date today and will have to do the same tomorrow. How are we supposed to go out for work? Please tell me how many of your employees can ask for days off to wait for home deliveries? Please be serious. Your online business is not just selling but also delivering your goods smoothly. Please change the delivery company if you care about your business. Please don’t stain Japan’s good customer service reputation because of DPD tge worst courier company. Every Japanese company outside of Japan should take responsibility as a face of Japan. Shame on you! There are better companies such as Evri (Herms) and UPS. They are much much better. Please invest in deliveries.
Total lack of respect for consumers
Worst website delivery, not waste your time buying products at this place.
I bought more than 6kg of products for delivery at my home, but the company decided to deliver to another place and asked me to collect the products at this local. I am working at home, I am at home all the time.
The most incredible thing is that I received an SMS from the DPD informing me that it would be delivered to my address.
Total lack of respect for consumers.
Go and buy at a real online shop, like Amazon that respects customers.

First class customer service
Raised a query via email about a delivery and received a reply with options for solution 10 minutes later. Although the problem was not the fault of Japan Centre, they resolved the issue to great satisfaction by the next day. All email correspondences I sent were dealt with promptly. I am extremely impressed with Japan Center's customer service.

Rather slow delivery but good a responsive customer service.
Excellent
Found this site while looking for a place to pick up some snacks from a different part of the world to make my own snack box.
Good choice of products & great communication from order to delivery.
Would recommend.
Scam
Scam, avoid using this company at all costs!
As per usual with scams very difficult to contact them and almost no chance of getting your money back.

Very happy
I have used them a number of times and am super happy. Love the products and they deliver in a timely manner.
The baked goods are the best
Always have a great experience when I order from this company, their prices aren't that bad for imported goods and the selection is the best you can get. Try the curry bread if you haven't already, just delicious!
Picking is impossibly slow
Delivery from time of shipping is quick, the items are good.
However the major let down at Japan Centre is the picking.
Picking can last 2-3 days no matter how much you buy, one item? 2-3 days... 100 items... 2-3 days. Considering the prices of the items you think they'd want to provide a better service to get the items out to you quicker.
Currently my last order was placed on Friday, today being Tuesday I'm still awaiting picking.
As of today its now 4 working days and my items still haven't shipped so unfortunately I'm going to have to drop my rating down to 1 star. Due to this its probably going to be the last time I shop with Japan Centre.

Inexistant customer support and undelivered order
My order was dispatched a week ago and I received a notification from DPD about my order being delivered on Monday. 2 days later and still nothing. Japan Centre has no customer service. You can call and will reach their voicemail asking you to send them an email. You can email them, but you will receive no response. DPD also doesn’t have a customer support line.
UPDATE- you reached out to me after I posted this review, but you didn’t respond to my emails. Please refund my credit card.

Absolutely LOVE this place
Absolutely LOVE this place. Authentic and 100% worthy it. A bit pricey but you do pay for the shipping as well.
Great customer service
Great customer service. Have been shopping at Japan Centre for years, and switched to ordering online during the pandemic. They definitely aren't the cheapest, but their wide range of Japanese groceries can't really be matched elsewhere. Dispatch and deliveries are reliable and for the most part have been quite prompt, depending on how busy they are. I've been very impressed by their customer service, very responsive and helpful!
