Great!
Have been shopping from Japan Centre for 3 years. A lot of varieties of food and snacks with reasonable price. Efficient and trust worthy. I usually order online and they will deliver the goods to my door. Went to their store in london for once, nice and clean.
Amazing customer service
I have ordered several packages in the past which arrived without any problem. Last week, my friend ordered a package for me as a present which the French postal service then screwed up. The customer support that JapanCentre provided for my friend was absolutely amazing. Unlike anything I have ever experienced.
A little pricey but worth it!
I found this site hunting for a trustworthy-looking place to buy gochujang. I bought some, along with a few other bits. Although the price of postage was a little expensive, the items arrived on time, in perfect condition and wonderfully neatly packed (I am a bit OCD about packing) along with a lovely little extra in the form of a little magazine. Only reason I didn't give full five stars was the price of posting, other than that would recommend to anyone.
First Time Buyer
Bought various Japanese goods from here and they were here 2 days later.
The chilled goods were still cold and the non-chilled goods were separated, overall very impressed and I'll be sure to shop here again.
Very handy
Good products, lots of offers, and very convenient delivery service. I don't need to carry heavy shopping ever again. The customer service is excellent.
Excellent stuff
I placed an order last Thursday for a number of things, including items that needed to be chilled. It's greatly appreciated to have next day delivery for the chilled items, but then be able to specify the day of delivery as I really wanted the items to arrive Tuesday so it was more convenient to organise.
I was initially confused at having a preparing for despatch e-mail on the Friday, but after some quick responses from customer service, they confirmed it was indeed being delivered Tuesday.
Excellently packaged, and doubly handy for keeping the items cool when transporting them to work and then to university afterwards. Definitely going to have to order more from them in the future!
Five stars for years and years... And the experience keeps getting better!
My perspective of them is purely from the groceries aspect. I've been using them since the late nineties (in a previous incarnation) on and off . Just when the food bug hits I'm straight back into it (usually winter... for Okonomiyaki, Vermont curry (back again but slightly different) and nabe). Brings back all the memories of a -20C long winter in Hokkaido 15 years ago.
The staff, as per Japaneses politeness, are always incredibly polite and are a pleasure to chat to... Often end up standing around discussing menus for ages with them.
The thing I find awesome online is the time they've taken to describe the foodstuffs and even give directions on how to prepare the meals, recipes and all sorts of other great advice. Takes the guesswork out for newcomers and the rusty in practice!
Only one thing... I would love to be able to give a positive comment on how good they are at resolving problems... But I haven't had a single drama!
If you like Japanese food but don't know much more, pop in and say hi as the staff will be able to give you all sorts of pointers. As with most of us probably... Just start with the simple curry roux and you'll be hooked.
Service above and beyond.
I emailed the Japan Centre about a problem I was having when trying to sign in to their site. I was expecting an email back but instead received a phone call asking for more info. I was surprised that a company would do this. This is customer care at its best. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Thank you Japan Centre.
They know how to put things straight when things go wrong.
I ordered hair wax and the envelope arrived empty. After having contacted customer service a couple of times they refunded the full amount and offered to send the products again for free. Great customer service! I now feel confident they will sort it out when something goes wrong.
Delicious Japanese Foods
JapanCentre is my first stop for all Japanese foods and cooking equipment. The online ordering process was easy and fuss free. The availability of stock was great too; they had everything I wanted.
Delivery was free for orders over a certain value and after a few bottles of Sake, this quickly applied. My parcel was well packed and greatly recieved.
Excellent online service, wide range of products
I am an existing online customer for one year. I always find the products I need, the ordering process is simple and order always arrives promptly and well packed. Highly recommended
Highly recommended. Great products, fast delivery and kind customer service.
I live in Denmark where I can't really get my hands on a lot of the things they have at Japan Centre, so I buy a huge box of goods from them approximately once every 6 months. They have everything you need in Japanese cooking staples and beyond - snacks, table ware, bento boxes are just a few of the nice extras.
If they happen to run out of something, you have the option to get it exchanged to an equivalent item - which I always choose. Unlike other places they -never- select a lesser product but take care to replace it with something you're not disappointed by. And they will keep you informed every step of the way during packaging and delivery, something I greatly appreciate.
All in all they deliver a fantastic service - just like the one you would find in Japan.
Delivered order on time, many which are difficult to find elsewhere.
Hugely recommend as a store to deliver obscure, exotic produce for experimentation with cooking. Many of their items are not available locally and I appreciate their service.
Prettay average
Prices are ok but range of wholesale products is pretty bad to be honest. There are better online Japanese food stores out there.
