I was really happy with my order
I was really happy with my order. I do think that some things are very overpriced (the gifts or branded items like Pokémon, etc), but you can get some really good deals. They always seem to have a sale on for their items that will expire within a few days / weeks, so it's worth checking out that section. Arrived super fast in the midst of a pandemic too. My order was complete and I'll definitely be ordering again.
Made in China? Why?
I have just noticed on one of the packets of seaweed that it is made in China? (Takaokaya Seasoned Nori Seaweed). The website does not show the country of manufacture which is misleading as it has Japanese writing all over it.
Will never make an order online again. Even visiting in store where they sell fresh fish and meat can we really trust where it comes from? They are just another company that buys the cheapest they can and sacrifices authenticity for profit.
Always really great service
Always really great service, the store in London could be a little bit bigger
(Happily) shocked how stunning these gems are
nom nom nom . Saved my life in buying stunning hard to get Japanese bits alongside a big pot of Gochujang. Very grateful, shipped well, beautifully packed and made my heart race on opening.
Never again.
I love all things Japanese and have ordered items from Japan Centre, no problem.
Except, I very much object to the classification of my address as being ‘Highlands, Islands and other parts of Scotland. Aberdeen is the third city and oil capital of Scotland. I am 17 miles from the city and can practically watch planes land at the airport.
I refuse to order again from anyone who says I’m not part of the ‘mainland.’
Don't shop here!
Awfully overpriced compared to any other Japanese supermarkets in London including other ones in Central London so they can't use location premium as an argument. Absolutely disgusting.
Edit: They reported my post because 'This is not a review of our Online services or website. As such, this has been reported. This is only for online reviews for [URL retracted] purchases.' I agree to disagree. I may have mentioned that their shop is in Central London but what I meant was that there are other shops in Central London offering a range of Japanese and other Asian products with both online and in-store shopping experiences offering cheaper and friendlier services both in-store and online without having to add a huge mark-up to subpar alternative branded products.
JapanCenter long time customer
I've been buying from Japan Center both at the store in London and online for a number of years. The shop, service and staff are all wonderful. The varitey of items is great and even with home delivery the items always come well with in use by date. If there is a delay with my order I'm contacted promptly. The items are always well packaged and after many years of regular ordering I have never had a problem with any of my orders.

This was my first order placed with Japan Centre. I am very satisfied with the service and the quality of goods delivered. I am always impressed by the way Japanese merchants look after their customers and their attention to details, whether in Japan or overseas. I am sure more orders will come, and will be happy to recommend Japan Centre to my friends!

Great service...!
If you are after some authentic ingredients , 'Japan Centre' is the place to look for them. Online or instore you will find pretty much all you need for an authentic Japanese experience. That or you will have to import them directly from Japan. Great staff, very friendly and always happy to help or advice. The same goes for the fantastic online customer servise team.
Thank you all for your help. Keep up the good job.

Beautiful tasty food, amazing products and super friendly staff!
Wow, you can find awesome products, hot food (ramen, chicken skewers marinated in the most amazing sauce, fish..), sweets and drinks that you have never seen or tasted before! Also the range of bowls and chopsticks that you can buy is unbelievable!
Great shop with kind and friendly staff makes your shopping experience in the Japan Centre unforgettable!
I highly recommend this shop that has everything you need to buy and enjoy eating Japanese delicious food.
POOR!!!
POOR!!!
I ordered from Japan Centre and had them fail to deliver a package to me three times in a row despite me being home. I even had a note in the delivery instructions with my contact details and instructions for a safe place in case they can't reach me, so there should be no excuse. When I called their customer care, they just repeated the same thing to me which was that they made three attempts and so the items are being returned. The customer care representative was unhelpful and simply kept repeating himself but not listening to what I had to say. The problem is that I was at home during the time they apparently attempted delivery - so they were being completely dishonest and they did not seem phased or concerned. It was a big waste of my time and a big inconvenience.

Good range of products at a fairly high price.
Used to have great sushi and sashimi but since the venue move the new staff are not as skilled with the knife. Seabass is cut too thickly, salmon is cut unevenly etc.
Please bring back the wasabi ochazuke.
Extremely bad shopping experience and worst company
shop online. Bought an udon kit set, this set included some ingredients, spoon, chopstick and ceramic udon noodle bowl. However, I had received a different kind of bowl, it much smaller than it appears in the advertised photos. Tried to contact them to sort out the issue. Unfortunately, the staff of customer service didn’t seem to say sorry on their fault and couldn’t care less replied me that the brands of the products are subject to change depending on available, which mean they will send the random product to a customer whatever they like. If that’s truly the case out the stock, so tell me why the listing is still shows its available? To be loyal business, they shouldn’t have a listing to misleading a customer if cannot send the same item. Me as a buyer, I just want to have a fair deal shopping, I pay the price to get what the product as same as in the advertised picture. Am I wrong? Very unfair policy if I return the item, because I have to pay the own cost to return it and get the refund even if on their fault. Extremely rubbish company and bad customer service. So disappointed! Advise against shopping here.
Brilliant product range, attention to detail in packaging and timely delivery.
For the website and delivery as I've only used online. Great range of products and delivered on time. Must say I was very impressed with the effort gone into 1 pack of kimchi to be cool for delivery - it was in a polystyrene box with icepack. Satisfied and very happy with products. The delivery and prices can be expensive, but as stated above they do put the effort in. Great system for proving age for alcohol sales as well, they check it once and it's done for the rest of your orders. Would recommend.
Sashimi price scam
I like Japan Centre but their practices around sashimi boxes pricing and labeling are unacceptable. My issue is that weight stated on a box including packaging hence making this so expensive if you think what you really get. If you buy any sashimi box, for example, tuna or octopus there is lable with weight around 80 grams. Which is regular portion of four slices. You think you get this? Nope. A packaging itself is 20 grams. So like 25% of price is for plastic box. If you take any product price is per weight of a product not including packaging unless this is clearly stated but Japan Centre have their own way. I have called them some time ago, spoke with manager and they said they will look into this and address this issue but clearly no one cares.
Great range of authentic products
Japan Centre has a fantastic range of authentic Japanese goods and is my go-to online shop for Japanese items. Everything is very well packaged and delivery is often very quick and efficient. Prices can be slightly higher than elsewhere (delivery too) which is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise a great shop with great service.
Not Bad!
There's something about Japan Centre that always relaxes my mind. Whether I'm there to wander or shop with a purpose, there's always so many options and the environment is just nice to be in! Especially with the new Japan Centre, staff are always friendly and there seems to be an even wider variety of foods (cooked, cold, or packaged) and miscellaneous things available. The only downside is that prices are a little steep and its difficult to track down and locate staff, but other than that, 5/5 would recommend if you're looking to find Japanese snacks/foods/supplies!
Great service as usual
Great service as usual, thank goodness they work with DPD now....items as described, lovingly packed and even with magazine for Japanese events/news.
Excellent online shopping experience with Japan Centre in London
My experience with Japan Centre (online store, London) has been excellent each time I've shopped with them. Their products are high quality and match my expectations, they are well packed (in eco-friendly packaging) and arrive promptly (after frequent updates along the way on the status of the order). On the two occasions I interacted with their customer service rep, he was friendly and helpful. It's this consistently positive experience that's led me to leave this unprompted review.
Great customer service and they usually …
Great customer service and they usually have great deals on too!
