My only problem in whole transaction was not dealer issue - it was an issue with Skoda Insurance.

Sold me a car with a dead battery, took 6 days to collect the car and now won’t tell me what they have done to repair it. It took them 28 hours to order a new battery. I don’t know if this was the only repair but they tell me it’s ready for collection 4 days after battery was ordered. Spinning out consumer rights time limit.

Great customer service. No pressure just good honest advice.

Recently bought an 11-month old Kodiaq from John Clark Skoda Perth, mileage was only 2300.

After a couple of days with the car I noticed that the tyres on each axle were a different make, then I found out that there was no locking wheel nut key, no puncture repair kit/jack etc, just the foam inserts where they were meant to be. The passenger door mirror squeaked loudly every time it was opened or folded, the umbrella was missing from the drivers door, and the infotainment screen cleaning pad was missing. The last two seem a bit minor but when you are an ordinary person laying out a lot of money on something as major as this then I think they should be addressed by the garage.

I contacted the garage with my concerns and was told that the tyre issue is not illegal so they will not do anything about it, even though the whole internet says it is not recommended and has potential to cause handling/safety issues. I showed that information to the garage twice but they chose to again refuse to do anything about it.

They said they would get a locking nut key but due to supply issues it would take 1-2 months to obtain, so in the meantime I was to go to them and they would remove the locking nuts and replace them with normal ones so that if I had to take a wheel off I would be able to do so. Then when the nut key arrived after 1-2 months I was to go to them again and they would refit the locking nuts and give me the new key. No concern that during this period anybody could come along and be off with the wheels and leave my car on bricks. Also no concern that this method would mean I had to do two return trips from my home to the garage, at over 60 miles each way. I ordered a new nut key from my local Skoda dealer and got it next working day, cost £56.40. I showed John Clark the invoice and receipt but they didn't offer to refund me for that. Now that I had a key I also got two tyres of the same make on both axles. I have young grandchildren and didn't want to run the risk of something happening to the car while they were in it.

Re the squeaky mirror, I was told to get WD40 to spray on it. I got no discussion from them re the tyre puncture kit.
After 4 weeks a Skoda umbrella arrived at my house.

I still worry/wonder what a car so young and with so few miles on it has been through to have different tyre makes on both axles, but I will say that so far it has been driving ok.

So in summary, anybody thinking of buying a car nearly new, never assume all is nice and rosy and in place, because it may well not be, regardless of how new it is. Check EVERYTHING before you buy.
Like others who have posted reviews, I too very much felt that I got all the attention pre-sale but the minute they got my money their interest in me went to zero.

So what rating should I give the garage? out of the issues that I reported to them all they did was replace the umbrella.

One star, shame on you John Clark Skoda Perth for not addressing the issues that you should have addressed, and to the top people of the John Clark group, either fix the after-sales service to what it should be or remove all that "We strive to give the customer complete satisfaction" stuff that you fill your websites with.

Very happy with our Skoda Karoq purchase. Sales experience went better than expected, having not purchased a car in a number of years and having had too many 'hard sell' experiences in the past with other dealers. Alan recognised we needed time to make our decision.
