On September 18, 2023, I purchased a Porsche Macan from John Clark Motor Group's Nissan dealership in Aberdeen. What I thought would be a reliable vehicle turned into a nightmare of defects and poor service. I reported numerous issues within 9 days, but the dealership has failed to take responsibility.
Faulty Air Conditioner: I flagged this issue during the test drive. Despite being promised it would be fixed, the A/C remains faulty after replacing the compressor and condenser. I still have emails where the salesperson promised the A/C would be repaired before handover.
Transfer Case Judder: I reported this within the first week. The dealership delayed inspection and passed me to Porsche. They confirmed a known transfer case defect. Despite this, John Clark refused responsibility and warranty company rejected the claim based on “wear and tear” of the clutch pack without even conducting a physical inspection. (the transfer case issue is a known defect in this model, and the manufacturer had extended the warranty for this issue from 4 years to 7 years).Porsche diagnosed it as a transfer case fault, but John Clark and my warranty company going against their decision and rejecting to repair it.
Suspension Issues: Worn suspension arms were missed during the dealership’s MOT, yet they were noted in previous MOTs. They were replaced, but failed again after 10 months. Multiple emails have been ignored.
Grinding Noise from Engine Bay: Despite replacing various parts (camshaft pulley, tensioners, etc.), the noise persists. The dealership used non-genuine parts despite listing original ones on the invoice, further compounding the issue.
Timing Chain Fault: Porsche identified critical timing chain and tensioner faults 9 days after purchase. These issues were likely present at the time of sale.
Faulty Battery and Unsafe Tyre: The car was delivered with a dead battery and a dangerous bulge in the tyre, which somehow passed the dealership’s MOT. It took months of effort to get the tyre replaced.
Missed Deadlines: Numerous promises for repairs were broken, with constant delays and excuses.
Misuse of Warranty: The dealership used my warranty to cover pre-existing issues, like the A/C, suspension, and camshaft pulley, which should have been their responsibility.
Suspicious Health Check Report: After initially being told no report existed, I received one weeks later. It was unsigned and full of inaccuracies, claiming the A/C and timing components were fine, despite them being faulty.
Inconsistent Mileage: There are concerning discrepancies in the recorded mileage across documents, raising doubts about the accuracy of the dealership’s records.
Non-Genuine Parts: Porsche confirmed the V-belt used wasn’t genuine, violating the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which ensures goods must be as described.
Conclusion: John Clark Motor Group has failed to uphold basic consumer rights. Despite multiple repair attempts, my vehicle remains defective. I’ve escalated my case to the Motor Ombudsman and may pursue legal action. If you’re considering this dealership, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
If you’ve experienced similar issues, don’t hesitate to take your case to the Motor Ombudsman and pursue your legal rights. If you need advice on how to handle a similar situation, feel free to reach out – I will be more than happy to help.
I will keep this review updated with the outcome.
Thorfinn looked after us from start to finish and nothing was an issue to either set up or organise including all my requests. I love a clean car and he had the engine bay and underneath the car cleaned to my satisfaction particular mention of Paul the valeter who did an exceptional clean of the engine bay area. The car was presented on time and my wife and I are delighted with our new (to us) Nissan Juke

I visited John Clark Aberdeen to look at a Nissan Juke and was given excellent , professional and knowledgeable service from Lewis Sutherland . Despite not going through with the purchase as some aspects of the car were not exactly what I was looking for, Lewis was very understanding and I appreciated that he did not exert any pressure to go through with the purchase . I would certainly recommend the service I received from him.

Buying a car is stressful enough, so buying one on line several several hundred miles away for the first time could gave been fraught. Lewis has been courteous, helpfully and made the whole process easy. In fact it has been better than actually going to a garage to view and buy. The video which was sent in under an hour was informative and very thorough so we were happy to purchase. The follow ups have been promt which gives confidence so well done. Thank you.

This is a factual post about specialist cars Nissan Aberdeen or also known as John Clark Nissan.
Purchased a white juke from them and rejected it on collection day due to cigarette burn on passenger seat but then they registered me as the owner hours after I left the garage. Then refused to give me my money back until the V5 for car that I rejected came though. Feeling trapped as they had my money, I bought another juke from them.
Reported lack of power, full torque, high revs and noisy engine within first thirty days of ownership as per my rights under the sales of goods act, but they could not look at it until 6/8/24.
Barnetts Nissan is Dundee were amazing and booked it in for 22/7/24 to find a severely corroded exhaust that should not have passed its MOT in May. I have also supplied videos of the loss of power and engine struggling but apparently according the technician on the test drive last week and I quite “its not a great engine in them”. the engine is going to go bang as it struggles on a normal drive.
We paid money to release juke from Dundee and took it to specialist cars Aberdeen. They have had the car since 30/7, and they have said it’s just the car, the car is satisfactory. Not when I cannot pull onto dual carriageway, the car lags. They sold me a car not fit for the roads where I stay or for Wayne to drive to work.
Motor ombudsman now, avoid Aberdeen Nissan at all costs, they don’t care once they have your money.
Here’s the thing, I paid £11,695 at end of May but if I sell them my car through their website they will offer me £7315. Will never buy another car from specialist cars Nissan Aberdeen.
Nissan GB asked them to refund me and they refused.
Specialist Cars Nissan Aberdeen, your Google reviews and trust pilot reviews of second hand cars sales are quite worrying
This experience has put me off driving. Nissan GB can help you if you buy a new car but not a second hand car.
Buying a second hand car from the dealership means nothing as there is no form of recourse or rejection when they cannot look at your car for months after you report the fault. By then you are out of the golden 30 days.
Single handed one of the worst experiences I have had l with a car dealership.
I purchased a Nissian X-trail via Nissian Aberdeen in May 2023. The car has been in the garage more times then I have driven it. Over the past year i have been in out of Nissian more times than I can think of chasing up the status of the X-trail and also trying to get answers regarding the Motor they have sold me.
Due to the number of times the vehicle has had issues I requested they the vehicle should be returned to nissian due to the uncertainty of the vehicle being fit for purpose. We had a meeting with the sales manager and a compromise was discussed to have the car in for a allover check.
The car went in on the 20th May and I am still get to receive the car back. With constantly chasing the service department on an update to be told that it will be fitted in when there is time. This is completely mental considering the timescale the car has been in for and also the service I have received in the past. I am constantly having to chase up both service and sales departments due to the radio silence.
With August approaching, a 3rd payment will be paid to nissian totalling over £1000 for a car I don't have to use. Yes a courtesy car was provided in the form of a nissian juke. This is fine for short term use but when you purchase a larger vehicle for your everyday life this isn't any use. I have had to change holiday plans due to not having the car after months of being in the garage.
Quite frankly this just of one of many disappointing experiences I have had with Nissian and to be honest there isn't enough hours in the day to note it down.
Avoid unless you have all the time in the world to chase them up to see what's happening regarding your vehicle and don't mind being told to run the car to red until it breaks down

Bought a used Micra from Scott at Nissan last week. Couldn’t be happier with the service. I enquired about 2 cars and within a few hours I was contacted and within a day I was sent detailed videos of both cars. I live in Fife and was struggling to get up to Aberdeen to collect due to work, scott took the time on his day off to personally deliver the car to me. He has also been in touch a couple of times to make sure there have been no issues. Very happy with the new wheels.

Mis Sold Car ( missing features ) & Disgrace of customer service
Purchased a car , home to find car had barely legal tyre, features stated not in car- heated seats , steering wheel. Weeks and weeks of communicating with sales it was finally done. My car gone for nearly 2 weeks to fit retro pack heated seats which is just a switch either side of the seat . Months after sale , still waiting for my spare key for my car , which I’ve been told after escalating to management that the salesman has ( lost/misplaced ) agreed dent/ small scratch in car that was agreed to be repaired on sale still not repaired . Months of promises, will be back in touch , waiting and then on to what seemed a manager who would finally solve all these issues to just silence again . At the same time my husband purchased a car and well that didn’t go well neither , waiting his parcel shelf again months later , bald tyres, a body repair he was told would be done and they would call to have it done , to his private plates being transferred over to being mucked around for months with this also . Just so done , so let down and quite shocked with lack of customer service , I’d never leave a bad review , but feel I’ve given so much patience to this and opportunity over and over for them to resolve this, it’s now July , cars purchased in March !!!!!!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Lewis Thomson who could not have been more helpful. I did not feel like I was speaking with a 'sales' person. Zero pressure, only wanted to help and had a fantastically refreshing attitude to the long-term benefits of being so helpful. He represented the John Clark and Nissan brand so well.

Bought a new Nissan Juke from John Clark Aberdeen. Excellent service, especially from Josh. He was super helpful and professional and explained all the options available for purchasing the car. We only went into the dealership to have a look and ended up buying a new car. This was largely down to the service we received from Josh, no hard sell but very well informed and friendly. Definitely one of the best sales people we have come across.
