The best site to book in Africa !

I tried jovago.com and they are competent and very helpful, you can join them by phone or by skype, a callback is always possible.

PLUS:
- the 2 hotels i visited were exactly like it was described.
- they speak french also, good and convenient for me.

MINUS:
- nothing

Conclusion: you can rely on them, and if you have a question about a hotel, feel free to ask them.

S&S Suites & Spa worse hotel

We had reserved some rooms on Jovago.com for S&S Suites & Spa and that turned out anpoor decision. The hotelnis very low standard and nothing on the ground reflects what is being shown online. First, therenwas no record of our reservation and the rooms we had reserved were already reallocated. The place is not fit for accommodation and should be removed from Jovago list. We left there for some other place.

Hotels not honoring their reservations

I have never used Jovago nor have I stayed at any of their accommodations. However, I too work for an OTA. Companies like ours make money from commissions paid by the hotels. When your bookings are confirmed and you pitch up at the hotel only to be told that they have never received any reservation through said booking platform may be a simple case of the hotel owner trying to make more money by saying that there was no reservation made and asking you to book a room directly through them instead. Youve traveled all that way and they know that you woulodnt want to go looking around for another hotel. I urge Jovago to pay attention to these shady hotel owners trying to breach contract

Deceitful and Incompitent!

Jovago.com is totally disposed to lies and deceitful in all their operations. They ran a simple facebook contest with approximately 12 contenders, the contest was marred with dishonesty and favoritism. They took all contenders for a ride and when the contenders lodged compaints, they were full of themselves and only gave vague unjustified reasons to their dishonest actions. How can they be trusted to handle their major booking opeartions transperently if they can't even handle a simple facebook contest!

To explain it more clearly: the winner of the competition was chosen based on the number of likes that were generated ‘organically’. Organically means that a contestants requests a friend, either on Facebook or Twitter, to like, comment, share, re-tweet or favorite a post.
What led to the disqualification of the three top contestants? Their likes were not organically produced as they were from ‘ghost (and thus fake) accounts’. This unfortunate fact forced us to disqualify them.

We often run competitions so the next time, feel free to participate and if the next time you get the highest number of organic likes, we would be happy to award you with the first price.

False advertising

They ran a fraudulent contest on Facebook, changed rules midway through, then disqualified everyone but their favorite with absurd and contradictory explanations.
1/10, would not book with.

p.s. I even supplied verifiable proof that all of those likes were genuine and organic (screenshots of dozens of messages asking friends to like), but Jovago simply ignored it. That makes their attempted excuse even more vile.

Adjusting my rating to 0/10, will tell everyone that they're shameless liars and scammers.

Selling hotels with no availability

Jovago.com does not have any integration into the booking systems of the hotels it markets like most of its competitors. This mean that when you book a room through Jovago you might or might not get the room at the hotel you booked.

Today I have booked 2 different rooms with a hotel marketed by Jovago and although the rooms are available on Jovago, I was called after the booking and informed that there was no availability. Jovago was unable to offer any compensation or alternatives.

I was lucky as I was informed before I travelled. I am aware of several Jovago clients who have gone to the hotel booked and been informed that they have no booking.

Unprofessional

I have been disappointed by the unprofessional service carried out by Jovago Kenya. After being misguided by one of their staffs, I was due a 25% discount on the next booking as an apology. The next booking has been more complicated than the first one. I was to book a room in Pride INN Mombasa. I was asked to pay a certain amount in the morning (including the 25% discount), but no link to pay was sent. Then, in the evening, once I had already checked in (without paying, while waiting for their email) I was told to add more money... which basically nullified the 25% discount. The case has been badly handled at different levels, including the management. The person who had emailed me about the 25 %, indeed, has never called back (as promised) nor picked my call. Luckily, I was kindly assisted by the hotel manager of Pride INN who agreed to sort out that very uncomfortable issue created by Jovago team.

Efficient, easy, and affordable

I made a booking through Jovago after arriving in the city for the same day. They were very quick with their service and a car picked me up from my place of work, took me to my hotel and everything came through like clockwork! Wonderful experience and would recommend to anyone looking for great service and value for their money.

This is THE BEST solution to find a hotel in Africa ! There are plenty of hotels and the customer service is awesome. They are reliable and very friendly. I made lots of bookings through Jovago.com and I recommend it to every traveller !

Very disappointed, feel cheated

I booked a hotel on Zanzibar through Yovago because they were the cheapest. It was simple to implement reservation and I paid the full amount. Then I got an email that the booking was completed and that I would not pay more. After a few days I received a new email, it said that they did not have prices for the dates I booked and that I will have to pay more. How is it possible to place a reservation and pay for something that does not exist? I wait for them to contact me and I expect Yovago pay for their mistakes. Not me! According Yovago may be about twice the amount.

We will also offer you several alternatives in the same area which we will send to you via email for you to pick from just in case the hotel does not get back to us soon.

Simple, reliable and customer-friendly

I would definitely recommend Jovago. Thanks to this website, booking a hotel in Africa has become as simple as that.

I really appreciated the great deals available, but I was especially amazed by their caring customer service who called me several times to confirm my booking and to make sure everything went well during my stay.

I've booked hotels on many websites, but I've never seen such a high level of service. Jovago definitely got it right.

Not a reliable company

I booked accommodation through the website and it had free cancellation policy. After booking my plans changed and I had cancel my booking.

It's been 3 weeks I am waiting for my refund. They don't have English speaking contact centre. I tried to ring their customers service and it was in French. I have even emailed them and there is no response.

I feel this company is not a professional travel agency and you are at risk if anything goes wrong.

Following my above post, I had good response from the company. The company have processed my refund. I update my review.

They scam hotels

I run a business where Jovago received credit card payment for they entire stay of a couple. But jovago refuses to transfer the money, or respond to any calls/emails. Also none of the numbers for Kenya work, or they go straight to voicemail.
