easy and friendly to use

it is straight forward and fast but you need to give an option of editing the reservations as you only provide an option of doing a cancellation. you need to consider that people may want to change dates or rooms rather than do the whole cancellation and have to start a new process once again.

I was not impressed

I'll commend the customer service. It's indeed classic. However, after spending so much time booking a hotel, I was amazed the hotel (Base Hotels, Port Harcourt) had no record of my booking when I arrived. The receptionist acted like she doesn't even know jovago.com existed. Worse of all, the price of the room and description on your website were totally inconsistent. I acknowledge you have less control over this owing to the fact that hotel owners may manage their page, but it will be helpful to monitor compliance.

In sum, it's a share blame. Based on your customer service excellence, I'll still book through you again with the hope this error will be addressed.

Great

First time booking for a hotel through Jovago and I found it very easy. Pretty straight forward platform and amazing customer service guiding me along the way. Would definitely book through Jovago again.

My Jovago Review

Your follow-up service in Nigeria & Chantel in Nairobi are very good. I was advised on the hotel I had earlier selected - Nomad Palace Hotel. Their advise proved correct and was confirmed by my friends resident in Nairobi.
Your website is bland and could definitely use some emotive improvement.
Your search features are good.
The information provided on the hotels are not spot on and needs to be constantly reviewed. I eventually booked the Comfort Superior Room in Classic Guest Home, Kileleshwa. When I got there, the place had no dstv, 2 giant beds in the room, no POS payment facility, etc. These things were stated on your site as being there - I double bed, dstv, POS, etc. Staff were not friendly. The price was different from what was advertised. KSH4,500 per night through Jovago & KSH 6,000 at the hotel despite our booking.
Your available payment methods especially the pay at the hotel system is very good for foreigners afraid to send their card details online.

Don't book through them. prices are inflated.

Booked a room through the site only to have it confirmed three times and while I'm traveling on the bus to my destination, the room I booked was given away. Upon finding another room it was quoted higher than the price on the site not to mention the overall condition of the room. I stayed one night and switched locations to a new place. By calling directly to the guest house I saved 25% of the price jovago had listed. Do yourself a favor and avoid using them to book rooms.

Terrible company! Do not use.

I strongly suggest not using this booking service. I booked the a hotel in Arusha, Tanzania through Jovago. I received confirmation of my booking and Jovago took my money (£100). The night before I flew to Africa I had an email saying that the hotel could not accept my booking and I should receive a refund soon. This was six days before I was due to be in Arusha though in the interim I was traveling in Kenya so trying to rearrange accommodation in Arusha was difficult to do at short notice.

Aside from the huge inconvenience, I am still waiting for a refund. Despite several emails from me to Jovago I have had no notification of when I might get my money back, in fact I have had no correspondence at all. I received the cancellation email on the 17th July so it has now been two months and I have not had my money back.

I will never use this booking site again and I tri fly suggest that others don't.

There seems to have been an internal miss communication in regards to the refund as i did not seem to know of the refund until this post came in. Kindly note that We have done a refund on your payment and have also sent you an proof of refund via email.
We are working on our internal processes to ensure that this does not occur again.

In regards to the booking the hotel has access to our site and can change their rates and availability at any time. They however didn't change the availability to zero thus leading to the last minute cancellation of your booking. We are working closely with them to rectify these issues.

Africa trip ruined by JOVAGO / TRIP-ADVISOR NGORONGORO WILDLIFE LODGE

Traveling to Africa From Maui,Hawaii is one of the longest trips there is. We started our 3 week vacation with a week at The Fairmont Mara Safari Club ( UNBELIEVABLY GREAT!!!) followed with a week at The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti ( ONE OF THE BEST RESORTS IN THE WORLD), we left the last week opened for The Ngorongoro Crater (MY FAVORITE PLACE ON THE PLANET) We decided to book something through Trip-Advisor. We decided on The Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge, and booked and paid for 3 nights 2 people King bed, private balcony,and free wi-fi. Trip-advisors booking company for this was Jovago. So we check out of the four seasons and request a driver to drive us to Ngorongoro Crater, and drop us at The Wildlife lodge.( $1100.00 for drive) We get there after a bumpy 7 hour drive to check in, and even though i have a emailed paid confirmation and booking number. They have no record of it. As we sit in there beautiful lobby waiting for our room, all i could do is look out the window at the best Crater view in the area. Well we sat in the lobby from 3pm until 7pm, they finally were able to get someone from Jovago, and they said we only paid for one night $420.00, well as i showed them, i paid for 3 nights at a different price. As i pay $10.00 for a one hour wi-fi ( not free as stated) they don't even have the power on. I bought 3 $10.00 free internet cards to try to contact someone from Trip-advisor or Javago to help me with absolutely no luck, i resort to turning my phone on ( spending over $130.00 not counting my frustrated girlfriend using her phone to try and help. With no help and no sleep, we sit stranded in the lobby for a hole second day with no help at all. Not to mention the morning game drive that was set up to pick us up in the morning by Ruth at Jovago never showed. After sitting in the lobby in the middle of no-ware from 7am until 330pm when i finally decided to hire a driver ( another $850.00) to pick us up from my favorite place without even getting to go down into the crater and take us away. Luckily i was able to get us a tent at The Fairmont Mara Safari club, were i sit now writing this now after driving from 330pm until moments ago arriving at 1030am. THATS 19 HOURS IN A CAR AFTER A 7 HOUR DRIVE TO GET THERE A OVER 24 HOUS SITTING STRANDED IN A LOBBY!!!! A waste of almost 3 days in Africa on a 3 week trip, not to mention $1100.00 to get to the crater,$850.00 to get out, Javogo has removed the email of payment and room conformation and put out another to cover there ass, luckily i took photos of it on my computer before they erased it. we have many email Lies from them, making stories to cover them, but i have it all!! Waisted thousands of dollars and 3 days of a Trip of a lifetime!!!! Unacceptable !!!! I WILL NEVER GET THIS TIME BACK!!! IT IS GONE FOREVER!!! THE MONEY IS SECONDARY!!! WE SAVED FOR OVER TEN YEARS FOR THIS TRIP!!!! WORDS CAN EXPLAIN THE PAIN AND FRUSTRATION!!! I WILL TELL THIS STORY TO EVERYONE I MEET ON EVERY TRIP FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!

We greatly apologize for the inconvenience experienced at the hotel.

Let us take up the issues stated point by point:

- The hotel said they were not aware of the booking. We are forwarding to your email address all communications we had with this hotel prior to your arrival. At the time of your booking an email was sent to the hotel asking them to acknowledge the booking, the hotel confirmed the booking by email. Before your arrival we sent payment to the hotel, this was a bit hectic as the hotel did not accept fund transfer (which is our payment policy accepted by the hotel) and we had to do a western union transfer. We communicated intensively with the hotel, to find a payment solution prior to your arrival and for them to collect the Western Union Payment. It’s shocking to hear they claim they did not know about this booking. We contacted the GM, Bernard regarding the booking confirmation, and the payment. Surender, the finance manager was also involved, as well as Gloria the receptionist and Petty and who picked up the Western Union transfer.

- The rates were incorrect. We asked the hotel several time to confirm the rates. I will also forward these emails sent to the GM, Bernard weeks ago asking him to confirm if the rates were correct on our website. The hotel also has full access to update rates and availability on Jovago.com. Moreover on the booking confirmation email sent to hotel, rates are also clearly stated. When the hotel refused to let you stay at the rates communicated by them Ruth went a step further and found an alternative accommodation for you, unfortunately your rejected this offer.

- The Wifi issue. I acknowledge here there is an incorrect information on our website. This should have been flagged by the hotel, but was not. However, we are willing to refund you for the internet expenses. Please answer to one of our emails with your bank account details.

- The morning game drive. Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge does not provide such services. Ruth tried to find a solution for you, Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge recommended a driver a day before your arrival and the game drive was organized. Unfortunately the driver came late, he arrived at 1pm instead of 9 am. We still had to pay on your behalf for this service. This is unfortunate but was out of our control, we really did try our best.

- Regarding the removed emails. I don’t think there is any way to remove an email. We can even resend you all these emails if you want.

We understand your frustration. We also understand that Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge threw all of the blame at us instead of trying to find a solution with us.
Following your experience with this hotel, and another complaint we received from another customer, we have decided to stop working with this chain of hotels. It’s not acceptable neither professional to take a guest hostage because of a communication issue and refuse a guest to check in after they confirmed the booking.

Good but need more

I really liked this website, it is clean and easy to use.
But there are some things that this website need.
For me the must important thing is a place where I can see all the reviews of the public before I book a hotel for me.

I like to see the experience/comments of other people who used the hotel before I book.

Reliable and proactive

Had difficulty booking a hotel with my Mastercard, and after two failed attempts, I received a call from a Jovago's CSA assisting me to make the booking. Quite relieving to know some companies still understand the value of customer satisfaction in Nigeria.

Reliable and excellent services

Good customer service but still working out the logistics of the company

The Kenyan customer service team was timely and helpful in addressing a problem I had with two reservations which I really appreciated; however I got the impression that they haven't quite figured out how to effectively and efficiently work with their international partners in terms of bookings and following through with payments, which created a problem when I showed up at two hotels I had reserved. Confirm directly with the hotel you've booked at if you've booked through Jovago before going there!
