Top service, 5 stars!
I came to the Kilroy office in Copenhagen earlier this month, since I was having problems with getting a good structure on my solo trip to South and Central America. I was so lucky to meet Ditte since she had been traveling to all these countries and she was SO helpful! I got all the best tips and ended up adding 3 countries to my route. Ditte was also very helpful with finding flight tickets and was always super helpful through email after the meeting, and she booked both visas and accommodation for me and my boyfriend in Cuba over Christmas. Top service and recommended!
Terrrrible experience
Terrrrible experience. I booked a tour with this company and purchased cancellation insurance as well. The next day I received an email congratulating me on my booking but also noting they would have to refund the 50$ cancellation insurance because it does not cover clients outside of Europe, which was stated Nowhere! However, they "couldn't " refund the $800 tour. I felt scammed.
Also, they stated a hike as moderate when I ended up in the most extreme conditions I've ever been in. (The whole reason I was trying to cancel was because I was recovering from a back injury.) I dont think the travel agents even go to the places they are writing about so don't trust what they say.
Lastly, they work with "third parties", or other tour companies, who don't communicate and plans get mixed up, like arranging our airport pickup.
Killroy Amsterdam offered a "group …
Killroy Amsterdam offered a "group travel experience" to my daugther ( Netherlands ) sold as a fantastic vacation with a group of people in Thailand.
In reality my daughter was staying in a hotel on her own, and was picked up every day by a non English speaking travel guide ( two hours too late ) and then spent the day with a group of Chinese people who did not speak English. Since the hotel was already booked and paid for , she doesn't have a lot of options but to wait for the end of the "fantastic vacation".
Killroy Amsterdam is unreachable via phone.
Do not buy Kilroy's X-it Insurance... it's a fraud
Kilroy heavily promote the fact that when you travel with them your journey can be flexible. DON'T BELIEVE IT. They seem to be fine as long as you stick to the original plan, but the moment you want to change anything it will cost you a fortune. Even when you purchase their "Ændrigs og afbeskyttelses forsikring, X-it" - their ticket change insurance - as we did. On Kilroy's site it says: "Kilroy anbefaler på det kraftigste, at du køber denne X-it beskyttelse". DON'T BUY IT... it's a fraud. When we asked to change the date of our flight home, we were told that this insurance was only valid if we had changed our return date before we'd actually flown out to Canada. This is crazy. Plans change when you're out traveling... that's the whole point. So even though we'd purchasd their insurance, they charged us 1610 kr. to make the ticket change... 1000 kr. for the airline and - to really rub it in - 600 kr. for Kilroy. By the way, this is the first negative feedback I've ever placed on Trustpilot, but I just wanted to warn you all not to make the same mistake as we did. David. Copenhagen
Fast and Reliable
I wanted to apply to one of the universities in Australia and kilroy (Dennis) did it for me. I completely satisfied by their performance. I had few time to visit the staff in their office but they offered me flexible appointment which helped me alot. Perfect experience. Next time I won't search internet because now, I know Kilroy would do what I want exactly.
Trans-Siberian Railway
My partner and I took a trip on the Trans-Siberian railway through Kilroy's agent Casper O.
We flew to Moscow, and then took the train to Irkutsk, making one-day stops in Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. We spent four days in Irkutsk and visited Lake Baikal, and then flew back to Moscow and Copenhagen.
The support provided by Casper at Kilroy was flawless. We planned the trip on a rather short notice, and yet everything was running very smoothly.
The accommodation was of good quality, especially the Marriott in Irkutsk. With the tickets and data provided by Kilroy, getting on board the train and taking a 5000 km ride was quite smooth and relaxing, save the occasional language barrier issue.
The staff in all the hotels, trains, and restaurants was very friendly, but I would not expect too much hygge in any of the cities we visited. By far, the best parts of the trip were 1) just being on board the train and 2) the time spent in Irkutsk and at Lake Baikal.
In retropsect, if we went for this trip again, we'd skip Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk, and go all the way to Beijing. That way, we'd enjoy some more landscape and cultural variety, and drop some of the inhospitable Soviet-style concrete monstrosities.
We would definitely book through Kilroy again.
Liars
Before cancelling a trip to the United States, I called Kilroy customer service to check to see if my claim and my particular situation would be covered. I was reassured by Kilroy's customer service that my circumstances would be covered.
I went ahead and cancelled the trip, and now Kilroy refuses my claim.
Claus H. Hejlesen, the CEO, responded, "[i]t is of course unfortunate that you feel that you have a claim for compensation which we cannot honour and that you feel that we have not acted in a proper manner".
But Mr. Hejlesen refuses to respond to the question of why Kilroy won't honor the advice of their customer service reps.
An expert guide to help me plan? Yes please!
I wanted to travel around the world for 6 months to see as much as possible. I had no experience travelling outside Europe and with no company during the travel or the planning, I needed help! I must admit I was sceptical to start with but Kilroy helped me plan the most amazing trip visiting Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, India, Tanzania, Kenya and USA (San Fran to New York road trip). Me and my consultant discussed the costs and the time I had available during several personal meetings and we tailored the travel according to my personal wishes. I felt completely safe and well advised. The trip went more or less according to plan and my consultant assisted me if needed over phone or email during the entire time. To this day, that trip is one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life and I would never hesitate to visit Kilroy Travel Agents again.
