Great service

I ordered a new bike from Leisure Lakes. Thought the process I was kept up-to-date and received great helpful emails. Also when I phoned I received great service. The bike was received safely and is absolutely fantastic.

Superb Customer Service

I've shopped at Leisure Lakes Nottingham quite a bit recently and always had good advice on what the relative benefits of different products are and which will suit me best. However my experience with my Trek Fuel Ex-e this year was outstanding.

Gee has really good knowledge of the Fuel-Exe; he helped me get the right size and explained how the 'e' parts all work. A few months later the bike developed a problem, just before I was going biking in Scotland for 2 weeks. Gee took great care to work out what the problem was and ordered a new remote controller, but this was on long delivery. Not giving up, Gee contacted Trek technical and found a workaround to keep me riding on holiday.

Many thanks Gee (Gawin)!!!

Extremely poor service from workshop.

Extremely poor service from workshop.

Booked my bike in for a frame swap. Upon arrival I was greeted by the store manager who was very courteous and re-assured me it was a straightforward job and would take 3-4 hours to complete. For my own re-assurance I supplied i complete new set of Shimano brake hoses and advised the manager accordingly. On the day of the work commencing I received a call from the mechanic asking if I were sure I wanted the brake hoses changing (why would I have gone to the trouble of buying them if I didn’t want them changed). He clearly wasn’t happy I’m guessing he was just wanted to make life as easy as possible for him. Needless to say I collected the bike upon inspection when I returned home the left brake lever was turned in making it uncomfortable to ride so had to adjust this myself the grease nipple cover to the front brake calliper was missing and two weeks into using the bike I’ve had to have it looked at again by another mechanic. The rear brake lever had so much travel I could press it in one motion straight back against the bars. Upon inspection the mechanic revealed that the fluid level was inadequate leading to air build up in the system ( something I would consider as an amateurs mistake). Now that the rear lever is operating as it should it has now highlighted issues with the extent of movement of the front lever. I was advised that this might be rectified by burping the system so undertaking that myself.Furthermore, I’m not convinced the new hoses were actually fitted as there are evidence marks from the hose clip that’s in place. Overall extremely poor experience and I will not be using leisure lakes again.

Great communication

Great communication, great prices - bike was well packed when delivered.
The only fly in the ointment was due to Parcelforce, which took 5 days to complete a 48 hour guaranteed delivery, and with no communication about when it would be delivered

Brilliant store to deal with

Brilliant store to deal with. Simon went out of his way to submit a warranty claim to Specialised on my behalf, and keep my bike on the road until the replacement part arrived. I was impressed by the whole team, and would highly recommend this store. Thanks again for showing exemplary Customer Care.

Product Selection and Technical Expertise

I needed to obtain and fit new tyres on my wife's ebike and had tried to talk to a few bike shops foe some help. When I got through to Leisure Lakes in Nottingham, they couldn't have been more helpful and technically aware.
They will be my first port of call from here on! Thanks guys!

Very Disappointed

Went to look at Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Elite 2022 model which was on offer at £2999 which also included 40% Off Burgtec Pedal.
Sadly no stock left of size S4 of the 2022 model bike, BUT then I saw 2 exact bikes 2022 model size S4 ex-display bikes the only difference was the prices were more… one was showing at £3600 the other around £3200/£3300 which I though is obviously a mistake or was showing the old list price and the ex-display discount needed taking off, below the 2022 old model clearance bike price of £2999 especially with them having a few scratched on and the one at £3600 had been a customer return which technically is a used bike!
When I asked Simon about doing one of the 2022 ex display bikes at less than the offer price (£2999) he said NO that is the price, when I questioned the fact they were used/ex-display/scratched and one is ever more than the latest 2024 model on offer at £3499 (why would someone pay £3600 for used/ex-display 2022 bike!)
I went home confused / disappointed then after doing some online searching it was VERY clear to see that the 2024 bike are very different!
2024 Rockshox front & rear-Mullet
2022 Fox front & rear - 29/29
I rang up on Monday morning and spelt out the price/year mistake to Simon why looked into it and called back and said yes we have made a mistake on both bikes yes they are both 2022 bikes and offered one for £2800 or £2600 so had the one at £2600
I also ordered Fox trousers and spoke about more extras on collection on Wednesday.
I phoned Wednesday morning to add some Burgtec Pedals on with the new price 40% discount and Simon said NO it’s only on new bikes not ex-display which I replied well it is technically a new bike with full warranty but it was a flat negative NO I tried to reason with Simon and pointed out the standard pedal are not fit for purpose but still NO! with a poor attitude.
My 12 year old son really wanted these pedals so I said ok can you do 30% off them as a good will/good customer service of which Simon very bluntly reply NO and why would I do that as good will… I must say such a very poor negative attitude to have.
I then said to Simon ok help me out I am buying a new bike and will be buying more items from you what can you do them for and the negative reply was a blunt it’s the full price.
I repeatedly asked to speak with the manager in the hope he/she would have better customer skills and see the longterm value is looking after customers but Simon refused to put me through.
I was stunned / shocked and VERY disappointed! I have purchased many new/ ex-display bikes over the years (4-6 a year) and without even asking every retailer as offered a big discount off pedals and a smaller discount on anything else. Sadly I lost it a bit with Simon and said I am so very disappointed thanks for nothing and put the phone down.
Anyway I went and collected the bike but still feeling very let down I cancelled the Fox trousers which had be transferred through for me and did not look to buy all the other items on my buy list.
I am more than aware how tough retail is right now (sales/margins) which is why most good supporting bike shops go over and above to look after local customers to gain repeat custom along with recommendations which is THE cheapest and best form of advertising for any business…

PS On collect of my bike on Wednesday I looked and the other S4 ex-display bike was still showing the £3600 2024 bike price.
Not really what a buying customer would be attracted to if I am being honest.
Which is another key reason why I was so disappointed Simon didn’t try and help me when if it wasn’t for me pointing out the mistake on these two bikes to Simon then the bikes may end up not getting sold anytime soon this year.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know of your recent experience with us, we are grateful for all customer feedback whether you've had a positive or negative interaction. I am sorry you did not have a completely positive experience buying your new bike and perhaps I could have explained my reason for offering no further discounts a bit better. The bike was heavily reduced already and we then offered you a further discount off that price as well, once we realised the error with the price ticket. I felt that extra discount we gave you was enough without any further discounts on accessories so I am sorry if you feel that wasn't good customer service. Thanks for your custom and we hope to see you again in store for a better experience. Regards, Simon

Disappointing

Disappointing. Spoke to a guy on the phone and asked if they had an item in stock. He was a bit off with me about the price, but offered to hold one back in stock so that I could collect it the next day. Went in the next day to collect - only to be told that they’d sold them all. The guy told me that I need to have one reserved in order to secure the item and got really shirty with me about it. It’s a shame, I went there to support a local shop. Won’t bother in the future - at least you don’t get abuse ordering off a website. Giving LLB a wide birth if that’s their attitude towards customers.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback, firstly let me say how sorry I am to hear this. I can assure you this is not our our normal practice and you have every right to be disappointed. I have taken this up with the store's assistant manager, Simon, directly who also sends his apologies, he would be more than happy to receive a phone call from yourself if you wanted to discuss this further and give us a chance to redeem ourselves.

Saved the day!!

To be ready for a MTB outing, I took my Levo SL to Leisure Lake, Nottingham for overhaul of the drive train and brakes 3 weeks in advance. Parts were ordered and a date booked for the work. However some parts were late in arriving so fitting started a few days before I needed the bike. When the work started it revealed that my free hub needed replacing, meaning more delay. The staff found a spare hub in a scrap bike and were about to fit it when the new part arrived! Thanks to the guys in the shop for going above and beyond, Result, I got my bike back in time - great service from LL Notts

Merida Scultura bicycle

I found this bike recommended on web (Road cc) - and was delighted to find it with Lakes Leisure at such a competitive price.
Contact before and during purchase was excellent - and delivery process was outstanding.
Upon delivery - I did take the bike to my local workshop - £40 well spent to ensure optimum set up for an excellent bike. Would definitely use Lakes again,
