Excellent quality
Been using localphone now for the past 6 months and have to say the quality of the call is excellent. My friends calls me from the Uk to India and the call is crystal clear. I have used other services like Labara and Rebtel and had nothing but issues. I even subscribe to their subscription packages to call the UK and I have a UK incoming number so this helps me a lot in keeping in touch with all my friends and business contacts in the UK.

Excellent Quality and Support
I have been using Localphone for a few years now and although I have had some issues in the past the support team is very responsive. I use the service to call the UK & Spain from Australia and as an Ex-pat this is way cheaper than using my mobile provider Telstra. The rates are very good and saves me a fortune.
I have dealt with their customer support a few times over the years and every time they have resolved my issues very quickly. I have even called on the weekends and someone either replies straight away by email or when I have needed something urgently have also answered my call.

Very Good communications. Courteous,Cooperative and Understanding.
The only problem I have noticed is Charges for Failed or unconnected calls. If this is eliminated billing would be simpler and no unfair charges. Secondly voce problems on some calls to India. Otherwise alright.

Call quality is good, but lots of calls to UAE repeats every 60 seconds
Localphone call quality is overall very good, but my biggest challenge over the last year has been that some of my calls to UAE repeat every 60 seconds. In other words, the call cuts off on the other end after 60 seconds, but I hear their end of the conversation looping over and over every 60 seconds. Upon filing several tech support tickets with Localphone, they had to adjust their routes to resolve this issue, but it crops back within 10 days or so. Localphone's tech support is responsive, but this issue is just annoying, especially cause it doesn't occur consistently.

5 years, few problems
Very surprised at some negative problems; my long experience has been very good, with few problems: a couple of texts not delivered, and very occasional medium, never poor, clarity of calls. Did sign up for country calls for my daughter-in-law home to Thailand, which she hardly used. I do think Local call may have noticed this, before renewing my sub, and sent me a question about it - not rocket science?

I recently had a problem with billing and it was sorted the same day by a very pleasant contact person. I have also just started to use the monthly subscription for my calls to the UK. I call my daughter from Mallorca, Spain for 1.1centimos per minute, which with my 800 minute monthly allowance means we can speak for about an hour 3 times a week. Really great service. I am a pensioner ex-pat so this service keeps me in touch with my family very inexpensively.

Absolutely excellent - for personal and business
I am based in the UK and I am calling internationally every day. I have local numbers in several foreign countries for 75 pence per month rental that ring my UK phone reliably and without delay. My call charges for most international calls are tiny at 0.4 pence per minute (= 5 US cents per minute). Their technical support has been excellent on the very rare occasions I use it. I don't understand how they can deliver the services they do at such low cost. My wife is in America for the last 6 weeks and calls me from her mobile phone at the same .4p per minute. I have connected a Siemens NP 300 IP voice over IP with 4 Gigaset 510 handsets at my home office. These can dial out over the fixed landline or VOIP with Localphone and are close to the cost of normal wireless handset extensions which are wired phone only. I can make dual IP calls and a fixed line call simultaneously. The Localphone offering worked superbly when I was in Thailand for 3 months last year and also for a month in Portugal. Along with Amazon, they are one of my exceptional suppliers. Top notch. By comparison I made some landline calls last month and found out I was billed by Warehouse Utility 7p per minute for them - so now I use Localphone for the local UK calls too at about .4 or .5 pence per minute. By the way I have no axe to grind here, I have no connection with the company except as a mega pleased customer with a lot of telecomms experience, personal; and business.

great idea poor quality most of the time
I have been with local phone for a number of years and the quality has been the main issue . 'My call don't always connect and sometimes you even get charged for making a call when you didn't even connect or when you hear the operator saying you don't have sufficient balance to make this call in Pakistan but you plenty of money in your account .
The idea is a good on and prices are reasonable enough . Never had any issues with topping up etc but call connection and quality need to improve

OK service; They'll keep your credit balance though
Didn't have a problem with the service while I used it. But just cancelled my account and asked that they refund the remaining / unused funds and they refused.
Since it's more than 90 days since I put the money in the account, they refuse to refund it to me. So the money will sit forever. Until 365 days after the original order, when their terms state they'll take the balance for themselves.
I would suggest finding a company that offers better terms & conditions than this one.
Will not spend any more money
Had this service for a while.Initially it was OK,save a few dropped calls, and hide and seek costumer support over the phone for a company that supposedly provides a phone service.Over time the quality of the service went further down and recently with more that tripling their rates, to where I call, without even bothering to notify me I will look elsewhere.
Maybe it depends which country you're in
I'm based in the UK and usually use the service through my landline. I've been using them for 4-5 mths now and had no problem. Good connections, easy to use, easy to make top-up payments, no dropped calls and I can hear the person I've called and they can hear me. I reckon it's saved me a fortune and I make all my biz calls on it.
Third grade product & service, dont waste your time. Stay well away
Every single problem possible comes with signing up with localphone. The call doesn't connect using access numbers, other person cannot hear, wrong numbers connected, certain international destinations never work, echo & poor voice quality to name a few. All customer service does is to change from one band to another to buy another week & then it's all over again. I cannot wait for my credit to run out & then it's Viber, Vonage aor anybody but Localphone. This is my experience after being nearly 4-years of business customer making intenational calls on daily basis. It's just not worth the time or hassle Stay well away. By the way did mention that app does nothing except sit with an icon on the phone !
Misuse of my account credit
I have been a satisfied customer for many years, but suddenly there is a huge issue that no customer would tolerate. Someone misused my account and used all my $18 credit to make unauthorised calls. I was shocked and asked the tech team to help me investigate where these calls originated from, as I don't share the account/PIN details with anyone. I got the following ridiculous response. I am cancelling my membership right away looking for some alternate service. You may wait until this happens to you and lose your hard earned money until this company deem that there is no irregularity.
"our Technical Support team deemed no irregularities on your call traces. I've also checked your account and it doesn't show signs of being hacked. You may also refer to our Terms and Conditions, that "You agree to be held fully responsible for all use of and fees related to your account, and accept full liability and responsibility for the actions of anyone who uses the site or service via your account, whether authorised or unauthorised, except when unauthorised use is solely attributed to an act or omission on the part of Localphone."
Terrible service
I've been having recurring problems with calls dropping and people not being able to hear me on the other side. I wasted the last few top ups on calls that drop as soon as they're received or where the other person cannot hear me. I'm not going back to them.
very poor call quality
When I started using local phone, service and voice quality was better..but now a days call quality is horrible. I can't hear anything..most of the time, call will not get connected. Also, even if you have credit, they will say you don't have balance to make calls..you will be screwed if you want to make some urgent calls..better not to go for local phone. Use Google voice instead..
Terrible customer service - NO calls are going through
Tittle says it all.
Its been going on like that for a few months now
- I have to manually reenter all phone numbers and PIN code each time i want to call someone using their access number (although those contacts are already registered in my account)
- even then, calls aren't going through (keep saying i don't have credit while i have close to $30 in credit)
- called customer service but they can't transfer you over technical support????!! they only will send them an email...
- and then nothing happened , issue wasn't fixed
