Utter shambles!

Waited weeks for my order to arrive even after order status said it was shipped. When inquired I was told that they were waiting for the mystery boxes and didn’t want to send my order without it. I requested a refund after 3 weeks of waiting, they told me I had to pay around £25 fee for cancellation even though my order hasn’t even left the warehouse yet!?
They assured me that they would definitely send them all together the following week when the mystery boxes will be back in stock. The following week without any shipping update they just delivered my order and after all this fiasco of waiting for the mystery boxes to come back in stock when I opened the boxes my mystery box wasn’t in it?
When I contacted them once again they said ‘sorry we didn’t get the mystery boxes so we decided just to send your order anyway’ and they gave me a refund for the mystery box.
I am aware that the products are short dated or just about out of date hence the price but some of the products were almost two year out of date which wasn’t stated in the product description and they were completely unsuitable for consumption so went straight in the bin!
They charged around 15 quid postage which is pretty steep for two medium boxes.
An absolute farce, avoid at all cost.
Go with ‘Approved Food’ instead, great bargains, only £3 shipping and arrives within days with no hassle whatsoever!
The only thing worth a praise here is Danielle from customer services taking the time to look into the issue and emailing me with an explanation.
She was the only little ray of sunshine in this dragged out, draining and utter shambles experience for me. Never again!
Ps. Please don’t even bother with a response, I honestly couldn’t care less

Let down by poor communication of delays

My order was expected to have been delivered 4 days ago after paying for express shipping but it hasn’t arrived. I have not received any updates from the company and have tried to contact them via email to get my money back but have not had a response, not even an auto reply or holding email. Based on the other reviews (the ones that seem genuine), I am now worried that I have fallen for a scam and they have stolen my money. This is particularly difficult at this time as we are struggling for money as it is and the idea of being able to buy cheap bulk food items that we wouldn’t ordinarily be able to buy at full price for my family was very exciting. We thought we had found a gem.

At best, it appears to be a very poorly run company with little consideration or courtesy to its customers. It does not take much to send an email to customers explaining that their order is being processed, albeit delayed, and I am disappointed that they haven’t done this. It would not surprise me if this company suddenly ‘disappeared’ and, with it, mine and other people’s money where the orders haven’t been fulfilled. With the benefit of hindsight, I should have paid closer attention to the genuine reviews and also should have paid on credit card so I can reclaim my money.

Beware: A check on Companies House for the company number shown on their promotional emails to me shows a dissolved company, leading me to believe that this is not legitimate. I feel stupid for not checking this before and trusting them.

If it does turn out to be a legitimate company, I will be mightily relieved that our goods have arrived but I certainly won’t be placing my trust in Love Health Hate Waste in the future.

Update: Order received, thankfully. One item wasn’t included which I requested a refund for and got a reply. Products are as described, arrived in good condition and family seem happy with them. I have updated my review score to fairly reflect the overall experience.

I received an email explaining that a warehouse move had caused logistical issues with my order, however I presume their email system was still working so they could have contacted me and others affected to reassure once they knew the expectation wasn’t going to be met. I would have been understanding of this. A few minor tweaks and a little more care needed for sure to prevent negative reviews. I’m still concerned about them seemingly operating as a dissolved company but I think that (and the poor comms) is more of a reflection on the quality and culture of the business as a whole. Definitely room for improvement and it won’t take much change to lower the number of disappointed people. A reply to another review highlighted that these are the ones that are more motivated to leave reviews - a fair comment that I agree with but even more reason for a ‘prevention rather than a cure’ approach to customer dissatisfaction.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Firstly, I'm glad to hear you are now in receipt of your items and you and your family are enjoying them - that means the World to us, to see the food and drink that we have saved from going to waste, being enjoyed - it really makes it all worthwhile.

Secondly, I'm very sorry for the parts of our service that you felt let-down on - we are going to look at the way we communicate ad-hoc issues like this that can have a knock-on effect on delivery leadtimes. I agree that communication could definitely have been better from us here - and for that I am very sorry.

Thanks again, and we appreciate the updated review score reflecting your overall experience now the goods have been received :)

Love Health Hate Waiting and Waiting and Waiting and Waiting and Waiting and Waiting and Waiting and Waiting

I'm still waiting for so-called express delivery 8 days after placing my order. After being contacted several times requesting an update, customer services apologized citing logistical issues and informed me they'd requested immediate dispatch, but 2 working days later the order still hasn't even been picked. Their solution was to refund £2 excess postage to reflect the fact my order didn't arrive 5 days ago via the express delivery I paid for, so now for the sake of £2 I guess they feel they can keep me waiting for as long as they damn well like. As far as I'm concerned they've taken my payment for this order under false pretenses.
No matter how good the discounts, you'll not be saving anything when the goods don't arrive. Trying to buy anything from this indifferent company really isn't worth the hassle. Additionally you cannot believe anything customer services tell you, that's assuming you'll be lucky enough to get a reply from them at all.

Hi Angela,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and I'm very sorry to hear of your frustrations with our service. I sympathise completely.

I see this is your sixth order with us, so I do hope your experience with your other 5 orders was all positive? I didn't see any other Trustpilot reviews reflecting your experience on these.

Our express service has been having some difficulties of late, due to a warehouse move to a large facility. We completed the move (in terms of stock movement) within a 1 week window but unfortunately a human error in the logistics of this led to some lines not being transferred over to the new site within this window. This is what caused the delay you experienced - we didn't hold all of the stock in the same location to despatch within the 24 hour despatch time promised.

For this I am very sorry.

Thankfully, the issue only affected a few select orders, and thousands of others were processed in this time period, with no issue. I know this is of no comfort to you - but i share this to offer perspective to readers who may receive a very skewed view of our delivery timeline success rate in reading your review. We typically achieve 97%+ delivery timeline promises - which we're very proud of.

Unfortunately, Trustpilot as a platform can create a very unfair view of our performance in this regard - since we do not pay for a listing and request reviews from our customers. People who receive what they expected are generally not as motivated to leave a review, as a person who is frustrated with their experience. So whilst, during the warehouse move we served thousands of customer orders successfully and within the promised time window, we received 1 trustpilot review in this period - a negative one from yourself.

This, too, is reflected in your own behaviour - assuming your other earlier 5 orders did not incur any issues - as no positive reviews were left in these instances, only a negative one on the 6th order which incurred problems.

Again, this is not aimed at you personally, I completely understand, sympathise with, and appreciate your experience was not positive, and it was not acceptable - I say the above so that other readers can read the review with appropriate perspective in terms of our overall service levels and commitment to meeting advertised leadtimes. Trustpilot is a fairly misleading platform when companies do not pay or feed-into their platform by requesting reviews from customers - and we just want people who aren't aware of this, to understand.

Once again I am very sorry that your experience was a negative one. I do see you have now received your items (on the 30th April) and I hope you are enjoying your bargains.

Thanks again.

They've really improved packaging in…

They've really improved packaging in recent times. I think the last time I ordered from them was 2017! I stopped because the last 2 orders I received were poorly packed and arrived damaged.

I saw some Hop & Hemp lager listed with them recently though (which I love!) and didn't want to miss out on the deal - so despite them being glass bottles I took another punt!

Couldn't be more happy. Arrived in perfect condition (along with the other bits I put in my basket) and I got it next day too (I'm sure leadtimes on delivery used to be way longer also).

They seem to have come a long way since I ordered with them before this and I'll definitely be ordering more often.

Packaging improved!

Seeing how the packaging improved and how fast they despatch now, I've recommended Love Health to my friends. Great customer service, too. We've had a bit of a hiccup with my order- but they sorted it as soon as possible. One thing that I would love to see in the future is a wider variety of items!

Great products, superb customer service!

As advertised, the company saves me a lot of money. A friend of mine recommended them to me a few months back and since then, I am ordering with them. The products are great; I love the promo discounts here and now but who doesn't, right? The items are already discounted but you still get a discount! So if you're looking to help the environment and save yourself some money, I highly recommend that you try ordering with Love Health Hate Waste and see for yourself.

Saved a lot of money

I've placed a number of orders with Love Health Hate Waste over the years as I always save a lot of money with them, especially if I buy in bulk. It's one of those websites I check back often and can snag a real bargain if I jump on something, as they sell out pretty fast. Especially popular items like protein powders and bars. I don't like telling too many people about them because they will buy the items I want :-P but credit where credit is due.

Most of their products are past BBD (as advertised) but they still taste great and I'm sure are just as nutritional. In fact, when they're cheap they taste even better.

Was kept up to date with shipping and arrived on time. Product was just as described. Great idea for a company. Will definitely be ordering again. Thank you

Packaging improved

Have ordered from this company before-it has been a bit hit and miss with some items arriving damaged. On one occasion something dark and sticky had made its way all around the box... Mystery boxes also hit and miss (40 portions of bbq rub anyone?) though I felt they were of the value stated. Two most recent orders were really well packaged and I think danger of accidental damage much reduced. Some great bargains.

As other people have said...

As other people have said, customer service isnt the best at all.
First couple of orders didnt go too well, but I thought I'd try again. My mistake.
The items I purchased, their condition was not stated. Cornflakes which arrived as powder instead of flakes. Imagine 10 boxes driven over by a car.

Have emailed multiple times over 3 missing ones but after the first couple of responses, you'll be lucky to get any sign of life.

Contemplating on whether to contact the bank, was such a small amount of money, but I'd rather hand it over to a charity than leave it with these guys.

Shame as I'd like to have made regular orders.

Have spent over £130 with them and they have the audacity to ignore customer emails.

Edit: lightly damaged is a massive understatement here. I've even sent photos.
Also, yous dont mention the 3 missing boxes?

I wasnt asking for a refund anyway, I even mentioned returning them to you guys.

Hi there,

These cornflakes were listed as damaged and sold as such. Therefore it is not in our policy to refund on the basis of damage.

We're sorry you feel this way - but the nature of our business is to save unnecessary waste. This means selling lightly damaged or bbd expired goods.

If we offered refunds for items arriving in the condition under which they are sold, we would not be able to continue what we are doing - which is saving over £8.5m of healthy food and drink, and making this available to people at affordable prices (which has never been more important considering the situation we all currently face).

I'm sorry we could not help more, but there comes a point where a business must stand behind its purpose and not break our own terms for fear of receiving a 1 star Trustpilot review.

Thanks

Goods not as described & terrible customer service

I've shopped at LHHW before without any major problems but this time made the mistake of buying their 'mystery box' which is advertised as containing a selection of health foods and drinks to the value of at least £100. What I actually received was nowhere near that value & some of it wasn't even food or drink. For example, there was a stack of more than a dozen jute bags, an out of date magnesium supplement and some garlic pills. The other items were some stale crisps squashed so much they were basically crumbs, a lot of individual black tea bags loose in the box, a few badly crushed tins of beans plus one of tomatoes, 2 plastic bottles of water, some energy bars, 2 bottles of liquid rennet, a packet of stock, 2 small cans of fizzy drink, 4 small pots of diet noodles, 2 packets of pasta, some herbal tea and 5 bags of dried mixed fruit.
Customer services didn't address any of the issues I raised in their reply to my initial email of complaint & haven't answered my follow-up emails at all. Having been so comprehensively ripped off I won't be using the firm again and would advise anyone else against doing so.

Update: Thank you for your response below. I have sent 2 emails without any reply so far but look forward to receiving one now. I did request a refund previously but as you will see from our initial correspondence that suggestion was ignored by your customer services .
I will update this review further once I have heard from them

Further Update: I was offered and accepted a refund of 50% of the cost of my order. Actually I was only refunded 50% of the cost of the mystery box, not the whole order and when I queried that, was told that it was all they could offer.
I'm not very happy but have increased my rating from 1 star to 2 stars as at least I received a partial refund.

Hi Harriett,

Thanks for leaving your review here and sorry to hear of your negative experience shopping with us.

The mystery bundles are a complete mystery - and 99% of our customers are extremely satisfied with what they receive (often receiving way over the £100 RRP specified - we even had one customer report that they received over £370 of goods, all for £30!).

I'm very sorry that your experience was not a positive one. I've spoken with our customer service team and it appears that all emails received from you have been responded to, so I'm not sure what happened with the ones you received no response to. But apologies for this regardless.

We will be emailing you again shortly with a resolution to this that we hope you believe to be satisfactory. If it is not, you are more than welcome to return the goods to us for a full refund. Thank you

Charge for delivery over £50 even…

Charged for delivery over £50 even though on their website it states that *** FREE DELIVERY ON ALL ORDERS OVER £50 ***.
Contacted to ask for a refund for delivery fee but informed that the advert relates to past when they did have free deliveries.
I think that this is a mismatch between what advert on the website says and the reality.

Company fails to comply with its own T & C’s

I purchased some bounce protein balls from LoveHealthHateWaste about a month ago, they took about 3/4 weeks to arrive which wasn’t an issue.
I tried one of the bars this on the date of receipt to find they tasted dry and off, when I checked the BBD it showed the 16th April 2019, but when I purchased the bars it didn’t say anything about them being out of date, let alone 7 months passed the best before date.
I have purchased items from LHHW before so understand the concept of trying to sell items that have passed their BBD, however I would never have purchased the items if I knew they were 7 month passed the BBD.
I had a look then on the website to see what the terms and conditions stated, to read that ‘the dates are put on the description of all products’, however this is clearly not the case!
When I raised the issue with their customer service team I was advised ‘In regards to your enquiry, unfortunately, for us to process the refund, you will need to return the items to us. We can remove the restocking fee as a gesture of goodwill, but outbound and return shipping will not be refundable.

In regards to the BBD, I am very sorry to say but we are not obliged to provide a BBD on items, and nor do we put this obligation on ourselves. We try, wherever possible to show this information. If the customers want to know this information and it is not available, you should contact us prior to placing an order.’

I would really not have been bothered if I’d ordered a dozen of these bars, but I ordered 50, of which I only actually received 48 (having been charged for 50).

I would not recommend purchasing from this company and certainly won’t be doing so again.

Hi Jenny,

Sorry to hear you are not happy with your experience with us.

As you are aware, the concept of our site is to offer items past their bbd. If a bbd doesn't show for a product, it is advisable you contact us beforehand and we will provide this information.

As you would expect, we conduct thorough quality checks on all items, and on this particular item it was actually passed on our quality assessment the week prior to your order. Since your complaint we have checked the item again, and cannot seem to replicate the issue you claim to have experienced with them. We have also received 0 complaints on this line from the hundreds of other customers who have bought these from us (from the same batch).

We have offered that you return the items to us for a refund, but you insist on sharing this story everywhere you possibly can - rather than working with us to remedy the issue.

The offer of return, of course, still stands. We want all customers to be completely happy with their purchase from us, and if not, we always work hard to find a remedy.

Thanks

Poor and very rude customer service

I placed an order online on the 30th September and it said delivery can be up to the 22nd October, that’s 4 weeks and naturally I didn’t think that as I was coming from the UK it would take that long. However I’d heard nothing for 2 and a half weeks so decided to email them, I got a really snotty, rude email back with the subject “a common sense approach to customer service” and a lengthily email going on about how they manually sort and pack deliveries and that they are no bigger than 5 individuals. Firstly they do not state this on there website so how can they say a common sense approach to customer service and secondly if it’s such a small “non profit business” why would you speak to customers that way, thirdly there’s loads of other small run businesses like this who manage just fine and customer service is great! And lastly, all their stuff is out of date so sending it 4 weeks late makes it even more out of date! Judging by these reviews. I’m not the only unhappy customer!

Hi Mark,

We're very sorry you feel this way and that our customer service response came across as being rude.

We try to respond to common queries in our 'common sense approach' template, so that our small team can save a little time and focus on other day-to-day activities, such as sorting through new stock and processing orders.

Leadtimes are something that we are actively working on reducing - so you should see this improve drastically over the coming weeks.

That said, we always make delivery estimates clear at checkout and on order confirmation emails, and always meet these delivery estimates - so expectations are set, and met, consistently. Even when leadtimes are fairly long, due to demand.

I'm sorry the extended leadtimes led to disappointment. We would always advise customers to hold-off from ordering if they aren't happy with the delivery estimate - which is the reason we make this so clear during the checkout process.

I hope receiving your order helps us to recover our reputation in your eyes, and that you thoroughly enjoy your items.

Apologies again, and watch this space regarding leadtime improvements (we appreciate you making this issue clear to us, so we can remedy this).

Poor Customer Service

As a loyal returning customer I expected a reasonable service as a paying customer.

1. Website isn’t even user / customer-friendly and really in hindsight should not have been tempted to return to this site as it was challenging striving to log in again with my previous details ie email address and had to use a different email address from previously registered one. It was a long, tiresome and laborious process all to save a few quid and our environment, no thanks I won’t be doing that again.

2. No indication if the paid for order is sent(just a brief note by them to say it has) and no means to track the item through the designated carrier, who that is, is anyone’s guess.

3. It’s been two weeks now since I place the order and have yet to receive the goods or any notifications of such. Communication, communications, communication!

4, This is not the way to run any business that’s heavily reliant on paying customers.

I think I have learned my lesson now.

Finally received my order a day later then deadline only to discover 1 missing paid for item. I like the ethos of this company yet they is definitely a room for improvement.

Update : - They have yet to refund myself for missing paid for item(noticed with this specific dispatched order didn’t come with an added itemised invoice 🧾 this time). It looks like they have lost myself as a once loyal customer and will seek supplies else where(part of the Nutriseed group).
