KEEP WELL AWAY!!!

I could rabbit on blaa blaa but the other reviews speak volumes. Their head office is in Cambridge, but come under several different names.

This scummy company makes Arthur Daley look saintly.

Took 60 odd days to get my deposit back! Bunch of see you next Tuesdays 😤😤😤

Motorholme - easy to use, excellent after sales

I have found Motorholme to be very easy to deal with. The website is clear and easy to book up. I have used them twice, so coming back is a positive review in itself!
Both times I have used them it has been with the £99 off peak deals, so prices have been excellent. Booking up has been easy, and even extending the dates after booking up was only £36. Just after my initial booking I had a call saying that if I booked today - I could get a £50 discount. When I explained that I had already booked up, I was told that the “offers department” couldn’t retrospectively give me the discount, but if I spoke to customer care they may be able to do something and sure enough, no hassle, just added the discount to the total. Well happy!!

I love the holiday and we are retuning customers, however there is an awful lot of emails that the motorholme generate and we don't think the website is very easy to use. There are also a huge amount of extras to look out for as these come at an additional cost to the £99.00 headline price !!

Having only asked for a quote and…

Having only asked for a quote and received instantly i was reasonably pleased the service provided. This was followed by a call a few days later offering a discount but by that point i had read some very disappointing reviews that lead me to lose my trust in them.

On the whole i didn't take the service but the quote procedure that i did use was very quick and easy.

Nice van, shame about the rest

Asked to review the company in exchange for a £10 Amazon voucher, so here is my opinion of the company.
Decided to hire a motorhome for a weekend rather than camping. The van we got was excellent. However that is where the good experience ends.
So we got 3 days hire for £99. Seems good? Ah, but then you find out that everything is extra. Want an insurance waiver? That's £24 a day, except it doesn't actually waive the £1000 excess apart from if you have an RTA. Accidentally scrape the van? £1000 excess. Someone runs into your van then runs off? £1000 excess . So we chose to give a £1000 deposit to cover the excess instead. But they can hold this for upto 28 days! Even though the vehicle is checked on return and signed off.
Then come the extras!
Want to travel more than 400 miles. That's extra.
Want to be able to cook? That's a £13 for a 6kg gas cylinder. Want a toilet? That's a £7 Toilet pack. Want to travel over 400 miles, have cutlery, plates, chocks, in fact anything but a bare van, that's more money. Breakdown cover? You've guessed. Oh and if you want to use the TV make sure the person booking the van has their name on your TV licence or that will be more money.
And then comes pickup and drop off times. Hire the van for Friday so we can get off as soon as school is over. Except pickup is from 3pm to 5pm, unless you want to spend another £48 to pick up earlier. But when it comes to drop off it has to be back by 11am or guess what, more charges. Oh and your van comes with a random amount of fuel in it, so when you go to top it off on return they get free fuel. And adblue if you are unlucky enough for the warning come on while you are hiring it.
And make sure the van is spotless inside, the toilet cassette is emptied and totally cleaned and the gas cylinder is turned off on return or you will get charged an unspecified amount.
Overall not the best experience. And I'm still waiting for the £1000 to be returned.

Easy to book over the phone with Sharon

Easy to book over the phone with Sharon who was very helpful. Wanted a 2 birth motorhome for long weekend. Price competitive but found the online booking confirmation tricky uploading photos of license, house bills etc. then comes the bombardment of emails, pay extra for kitchen pack, extra for gas, extra toilet pack etc. £6 a day for dog which is a little steep. Paid extra to protect the insurance excess got charged £9 admin fee twice. Re The deposit only just returned vehicle so watch this space. The motor home itself was only 2 years old and was clean and modern even though we declined their offer to pay £39 for a top of the range one. Picked up and returned to Bristol depot although did not open until 9.30 am so hubby late for work

Getting your £1250 deposit back is a nightmare (61 working days)

Getting your £1250 deposit back is a nightmare. When you contact them they are not interested. 3 months later I’m currently relying on my credit card company to get my deposit back.
Beware they use many different names/websites but it’s all the same company.
STAY WELL AWAY!!!
UPDATE - got my deposit back after 61 working days (13 weeks).

Know what to expect

The van itself was good, and the guys at the Bristol depot (which is closer to Bath!) were courteous and professional.

The website is annoying, and once booked, you receive constant prompts up-selling various items (some of which turned out to be included anyway - eg bog roll and toilet fluid).

I was particularly annoyed to be charged £8/day plus a £9 "admin fee" against "additional insurance" based on a 3yo speeding ticket. Something I only discovered once the van was paid for. This sum is less than the amount it affects my annual insurance...

Less expensive, but similarly annoying for the simple lack of courtesy was "give us a copy of your TV licence or we'll deduct £9 from your deposit". This could so easily be "be warned, you might not be covered by your own TV licence if you plan on using the TV" - instead they've turned it into a money-grabbing trick.

And the crowning tu.rd in the portaloo is the time they keep your deposit: 28 *WORKING* days. Which is basically 6 weeks in normal speak. The deposit itself is £1250 (or a couple of hundred if you pay a fee to insure your deposit - talk about a racket!). Ostensibly this time is to make sure they receive and can act upon any speeding/parking fines, but in reality it is of course a way for them to make more money by earning interest on your cash while it sits in their bank. When queried, they say "because Ts and Cs"

Oh yeah, and you don't get it back automatically, you have to sign in to their infernal website again and "request" it. The cheek!

I haven't got to the 6 weeks yet, so I don't know if I'll successfully get my deposit back, but I did take the precaution of putting it on my credit card so to get the payment protection.

Website and quote review Feedback.

Website is poor, clunky and lacks functionality When accessed on a mobile Platform.

Needs an overhaul and modernisation to make it more responsive and easy to use.

When clicking on the Autumn offer, the site would not let me select any date, however, when going through a general quote it seemed to work.

I haven’t Made a booking, but I found the quote very competitive indeed, I’m sure there may be additional costs and fees to factor in on top.

Some Good, but major bad points!

A few Good Points:
Web Site
Clean new(ish) van
Returned my reading glasses via the post having left them in the van at the end of the hire. The guys running the depot (Bridgend) were helpful.
Major Bad Points:
Only way to get my £1200 deposit back (after returing the van without damage etc) was to dispute with credit card company. I wish I had read reviews here before using them. I will not use them again!
Fridge faulty
Constant upselling via email/texts before hire period
Many essentials are charged for (leads, levelling blocks etc)
Impossible to talk with anyone, has to be online chat method.
The main issue is they seem to want hold of your money for as long as possible (minimum is 28 WORKING DAYS after finish of hire period). They do charge the card so you will incur interest charges.
A real shame that the financial side spoils the experience.
I will be hiring again but NOT WITH THIS COMPANY!
I am sorry to say that avoid using them is my advise.

Terrible company my advise don’t use them

Terrible company my advise don’t use them.

They still have my deposit of over £2500 as we hired two motor homes . This is going into two months now.

We picked up from Brentwood very rude man not helpful at all.

They say it’s a four day hire two days are wasted due to pick up times and return times

You cannot phone anyone it’s all though chat where you wait for long periods and a waste of time once through to them

Avoid this company

Will not Process £1250 refund - Rip-Off

As per the review by Rachel below and with a little research what is a consistent theme with this company is a complete failure to process the legitimate return of the hire deposit and an abject failure to implement any process to escalate complaints before they turn into these types of review, which would be a zero were it possible. I confirm it's impossible to speak to anyone who can deal with this process which makes this even more frustrating. My deposit of £1250 was paid in early August and it is now mid November and remains unpaid. Following multiple on-line chats (where it was confirmed that all actions at my end had been taken and there was no reason for the refund not to be processed but there was a problem with their processing agent) and despite repeated escalations to an email address as advised by the live chat without any response. I subsequently wrote to the company with a letter of final demand sent to the registered office still with no response. Amex are treating this as a disputed charge which appears to be the only way to get my refund returned without taking court action. Avoid like the plague because this will happen to you.

Please don’t use this company, we got ripped off and we don’t want you to....

Here’s a video of what their motor homes are really like. No compensation, no refund, no repayment of our deposit. Here’s a list of everything that was wrong with our campervan!

Broken cabinet in kitchen x 2
Broken cupboard door x 2
Dents on table
Non functioning toilet looked open the first day, camper stunk of sewage, locked shut of the 2nd day - raw sewage all over floor
Blood on ceiling above double bed
Front door doesn’t unlock from the outside
Front door doesn’t shut - has to be slammed shut
Ladder to kids bunk broken fixing
Fridge light on but doesn’t refrigerate
None of the plug points work
Water pump does work
TV doesn’t have reception (even though every other campervan in the campsite has tv reception)
Electricity flap broken
Door to garage snapped off
Gas cylinder cabinet very difficult to access
Early collection didn’t happen even though they said they would call.
Campervan was dirty on the outside - they hadn’t even bothered cleaning it
