Motorholme are not to be trusted.

The vehicle provided was one of the oldest ones in the depot; I think they kept their better ones for their own customers, and used the old ones for Motorholme customers. Ours had over 70K on the clock, and that must have meant a lot of hire beforehand, and it showed. On the first morning away, the water pump packed in, so no more cooking, washing or showering in the van. Even the loo could not function. There is no call out repair service for internal breakdowns; you must sent a text to a number that replies to tell you the average response time is 24 hours. We weren't that lucky. No one responded. Don't even bother trying to phone Motorholme. You can email them, but they won't do anything other than tell you to check the manual. I had already done that, and checked the fuses were all ok. Not easy as the catch on the fuse box was broken. We tried carrying on for another day and night, but why should you have to put up with something that is not fit for purpose? We took the van back on day 3. This was in March. I have yet to receive back my deposit on the van, three months later. This is not a straightforward company. My advice is you should not have anything to do with them. They may seem to offer bargains, but by the time they have added everything on (parking, an electricity hook up cable, a knife and fork, a plate and spoon) you'll have paid more than double for a very disappointing experience.

Please avoid

Not sure, how the rating is so high overall. Please please please avoid. Youll be bombarded with emails. Texts, upgrades. Our vehicle wasnt road worthy, and no fire extinguishers. Still awaiting return of deposit despite 28 working days later. Theres no face to this organisation. There are some good staff but in general zero service. When booking just please avoid.

Crooks.

It seemed like a great deal so I booked. I was then bombarded with texts and emails for extras all the way up and including the date of hire. The last two were for a tv licence that was extremely heavy handed and threatening which was sent two days before hire date and clearly designed to get you to just pay the fee as oppoosed to spend time looking for your own tv licence. The last one was for an 'early collection time' of 11am. Normal collection was 3pm (for which you are charged a full day rental. I just swallowed all the additional fees and put it down to experience. The kicker came when they wouldn't return the deposit of £250. It had been a couple of weeks so I checked up with them. By the way, you cant call. They never answer the phone or return messages. Only communication portal is through your hire centre email chain.
I was told it was 28 WORKING DAYS for the refund to be processed. Just think about that for a minute. 28 working days. Even though the vehicle has been returned an confirmed as damage free - nothing owed.
I just checked yesterday - two months later - and it still had not been returned. This was the refund process:
1. i emailed them to ask where my refund was
2. They emailed back to say I needed to log into my Hire Centre and request the refund
3. I did that
4. They sent an email to say that a refund was requested. But hidden in the very small print was a button to click to confirm that you wanted the refund. I clicked that.
5. Linked to the hire centre where there is another button to confirm that you want the refund processed. - I KID YOU NOT.
6. Click that
7. Note saying that it will be processed immediately. And that it will take 4 days for the funds to show up.

This has to be against some codes or something. They are an appalling company with appalling practices, designed to keep your cash for as long as they can. Morally bankrupt.

Do yourself a favour and stay away from these people. Take a look at the other 1 star ratings and you'll see that this happens frequently.

I would say that the people I collected my RV from (Heathrow - but it was in Molesey - about 45 minutes from Heathrow) were great. The lady who checked me out and in was perfectly polite and knowledgable. I asked if I could deal directly with them but they said no. They also understood that many of their clients had issues with Motorholme/motorhomehire.co.uk.

NEVER USE THEM............ STAY AWAY

This is the absolute worst experience that I have ever had to endure.

I was roped into hire with them and I absolutely regret not checking TRUSTPILOT first. Their online booking system is a disaster and fails and sends incorrect information. A lady called and took my booking. That was the first and last time I actually spoke to anyone at the company. During the build-up to the weekend away, I was continuously bombarded with texts and emails wanting more money and more add ons and additional extras at extra costs which I had stated I was not interested in. I was threatened with prosecution for a TV license if I didn't pay for it even though I had sent numerous emails and texts saying I am not using the TV.

I returned the vehicle cleaner than is was hired to me and was told that my deposit would be refunded to me within 28 days.
When I follow up my refund I was told that it would be 28 WORKING days.
After the 28 working days was complete I again contacted them via the online chat which is totally useless and was told that I that they had sent an email to complete a booking process. I checked every email and spam email and junk email folder but no email. Again a half hour on chat and still no resolution. after a 3rd attempt, I was sent the original link and I did all the necessary actions and I was told the refund has been processed. Low and behold 8 days later I still had not got my refund and again I had to do another chat to be told I had not completed the booking steps.
After another long web chat, I was told that it has been processed. Considering that I did the return on the 18th of March and today is the 7th of May and I still have not got my deposit back.

There seems no interest to return my deposit and I am now reporting this to the necessary authorities.

Check Companies House for website trading name before you part with your cash

Made an enquiry for a quote months ago. Have been hounded by text messages ever since. I emailed them to remove my details a number of times, no response. THEY ARE IN BREACH OF GDPR LAWS! Motorholme does not exist, they ceased operating under MOTORHOLME LTD in 2010. They are operating as UNBEATABLE HIRE under Company Registration no. 04306649. They use this same reg number on various websites under different names such as MOTORHOLME. CO. UK

They also claim to be "Partnered with NATIONAL MOTORHOMES" on both their websites MOTORHOLME.CO.UK and UNBEATABLEHIRE.COM - Beware!! National Motorhomes IS NOT A TRADING COMPANY EITHER! Check Companies House. On their website NATIONALMOTORHOMES.CO.UK they list no Company Registration Number. They do, however, direct you to their Depots around the country, all of which have their own website and apparent business name but all use the same Companies House Company Reg no. 04306649 (registered to Unbeatable Hire).

COMPANIES HOUSE TRADING NAMES: MOTORHOLME HIRE - HIRE BOOKING CENTRE LTD. - MEDIN MARKETING LTD.

WEBSITE NAMES TRADING UNDER COMPANY REGISTRATION NO. 04306649 or connected to National Motorhomes and therefore Unbeatable Hire (the only registered company name).

Scam!

I began to be suspicious when I could not get hold of anybody by phone and emails were clearly computer-generated. Then I realised that my £800 booking was likely to cost me considerably more with the add ons and a bond that’s clearly very hard to get back. So I didn’t pay the balance - they have still not contacted me, I emailed telling them I was suspicious this was a scam - no reply...

Move on and find a reputable company - don’t get scammed!

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!
I responded to an offer to hire a motor home for 4 days for £99.
Day by day, week by week, they kept demanding more and more money for a tv, for cutlery/crockery, for furnishings, for towels & soap, for just about anything you could imagine. The final hire bill would have been £350. They are nothing but a scam. I have cancelled my hire & lost my £96 deposit AND my £99 hire fee.
The final straw was them wanting another £96 for insurance + another £250 deposit or a £250 deposit and a £1,000 bond.
Who asks for a thousand as a bond after a deposit or £96 and a second deposit of £250? Its a scam. Nothing more. It is fraud. Their terms & conditions allows them to do this, unfortunately.

Same experience as everyone else really. Van not in great condition. Very difficult to communicate with. We didn't get our deposit back until December. They alleged that they had to clean the van when it was returned - this was a lie but we write this charge off just to get the deposit back which is what they rely on. Will never use them again and advise you not to as well.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
Seems cheap, but beware the hidden charges before hiring, which just keep flooding in!
I paid for a kitchen pack which involved 3 glasses and 2 cups between for of us in a 4-6 person van. Plates were dirty there, there was a huge hole in the table and on the bathroom door, a bin had been superglued on the outside of the door which they didn't remove "as we don't know what kind of damage there is underneath it!", window had several cracks in, living room light wasn't working, even the hot water didn't work all the time, footprints on the curtains and damage everywhere you looked with a few inadequate bodges to fix grill and cupboard doors! Toilet wasn't even fully emptied although fortunately no solids in it. It wasn't fit to be hired out at all - they blamed New Year, but given the bodges at least some of the damage had been longer term! Took it home before we set off for a thorough clean and to collect our own crockery!
Now as previous reviewers have mentioned I haven't had my deposit returned - although I was told I would have it back in full within 28days and that the van was cleaner than when they lent it to me! Citizens Advice seemed unsurprised by my call and have clearly had issues before which have involved Trading Standards taking action against this company. Wish I had seen these reviews before hiring... NEVER AGAIN!!!

Don't use this company or you will regret it

DON'T HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY OR ANY OTHER COMPANY ASSOCIATED WITH THEM. SO MANY EXTRAS THAT THEY ASK FOR IS FAR BEYOND THE PRICE THEY ADVERTISE. MOTORHOME HIRE, FESTIVAL MOTORHOME HIRE, MOTORHOME HIRE, THEY DON'T RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT, ONCE YOU BOOK THEY SEND SO MANY EMAILS ASKING FOR MORE MONEY FOR THINGS LIKE IE; GAS BOTTLE, POTS AND PANS, ELECTRIC HOOKUP CABLE, KNIVES AND FORKS, WASHING LIQUID. ALSO, IT HAD SO MANY DINTS AND SCRATCHES TOO, WE RETURNED IT CLEANER THEN WHEN WE PICKED IT UP, BUT WAS STILL CHARGED FOR THEM CLEANING IT.

Very Disappointing

We booked a motor home in 2018 to drive around Scotland, at first we thought we had a good price but that soon changed when working through the booking process online.

Once you book they give you 24 hours to cancel and only after this period everything comes to light.

Every few days leading up to the hire date I was receiving emails asking if I wanted extras such as road side breakdown cover, kitchen and motor home accessory pack, toilet pack, propane gas bottle.
(When booking I did expect to have the basics already in the price)

They also add on admin fees throughout all this booking process and if you have points on your licence they add on an extra charge for this. During the booking process they couldn’t help you enough but as soon as it ended they were quite hard to get hold of.

When we arrived back home we noticed a very small piece of damage to the corner of the rear bumper, for this they withheld a large payment from the security deposit. I was even billed for the vehicle being off the road for repairs.

However the motor home had various damages such as broken cupboards, latch’s, outside side reflector light, plastic on the wheel arch broken.

It seems customers may get billed for damage but the repairs are not carried out.
To get your deposit back you have to request it rather than it being done automatically.

I would suggest using a different company.

Awful experience with Motorholme

Awful experience. The light casing fell off on the motorway. After calling the company several times they assured us all ok as it's insured. We fixed it and carried on the journey. The heating did not work and there were no carbon monoxide detectors in the van. The door was iffy and previous damage was not reported to us before we went causing stress. Got it back to the yard after 3 days and they said everything was ok. 28 days later get a huge bill of 600 pounds for what seems like a load of made up nonsense. Currently in dispute with bank and may have to take them to court. All these fake reviews made me want to write one to warn people. People leaving these I got a quote and get a 10 pound Amazon voucher are just as sad as the company, ripping people off!

Never use this company

Same experience as you will read below. Not got my refund back still and have just raised a dispute with my credit card company. 1 star is too much. Never use this company, not only is it outrageous that you have to chase your refund, its all the hidden charges that they get you with. It seems cheap to hire, but it really is not.

Motorholme Cambridge Case closed. Be warned!

I would like to bring readers up to date on my earlier post regarding this despicable company. Following investigation by my Bank's fraud department Motorholme Cambridge eventually refunded me the post hire security deposit of £1,250. on DECEMBER 19th!. My hire commenced 2nd September! They are now being monitored closely by Cambridge Trading Standards Office. Since my earlier review I have be gratified to receive personal thanks from over 30 Trust Pilot members troubled by similar problems, or thankfully potential customers, forewarned and dissuaded from hiring from this ghastly company.
