MOT and Service

Had my Mercedes MOT and service carried out at motorserv this week. From start to finish the service I received was exceptional. I dealt with Arfan who kept me in the loop at all times, wasn’t pushy with the 2 advisories I had and got the car back to me within the day. I was also able to have a courtesy car which was a great help. Thanks motorserv, I’ll be back next year!

Reported to trading standards

Edit:

You had my stepdads email 😂 all correspondence was directed to me in a clear email stating “this is not the purchaser, please contact me on this email instead”. Courtesy car damages were paid for, so irrelevant. You sold me a faulty car, held it for 4 months so I couldnt reject it when I would have realised the fault was not fixed. It was my name on the v5 but you didn’t have my email on the sale probably, instead you have about 10 emails that you ignored from me at the time. As I mentioned also on my google review, you are an inept and unlawful company. Nothing can be done now but I am in my rights so share my experience to make everybody else aware. Your responses are just filled with incorrect, irrelevant information that you seem to think makes you look “better”. The reality of it is, I paid 9 grand for a car, i drove it for 2 months before i had to get rid of it because it had a faulty gear box and to this day I have received no compensation, no refund. You seem to think because you tried to repair the gear box, it’s all okay and that you really tried to help me. It was a legal requirement for you to fix it?? but I still don’t have a car that works from you, or my money back, I see many people with similar experiences on your reviews amongst the 3/4 every day posted by probably yourselves that are 5 stars 😂 it’s only really 1 stars and 5 stars dotted around in there. Goes to show.. I see you’re familiar having a chat with trading standards 🤣🤣

Hi Emilija. Scammers? You destroyed our courtesy car mirrors and you aren’t even a customer of ours, it was your partners car. He doesn’t reply or respond to any correspondence sent. Please do speak to solihull trading standards, ask for Carrie there. We will gladly run her through your case and the fact your request for return was denied and you got our final legal response months ago.

EDIT: Yes, as stated your case went to legals and your complaint was dismissed. All trade garages working at volume are introduced to trading standards officers as they are here to help us against rogue customer complaints also. You haven't followed any legal process or return process throughout. We took your initial complaint in, provided you with a courtesy car (which we are not obligated to do) and had your gearbox professionally repaired by Drivers in Birmingham (work for all trade and a lot of main dealers), the car was tested and returned to you, and then months later you then complained it wasn't working again properly, then said your brakes had failed causing you to crash the car. It's been quite the merrigoround with this particular sale, and if you wanted to return the car, you would have needed to have returned it within the statutory period and returned it in the same state it left us in. As you have had your case dismissed you have resorted to leaving bad reviews. We have all the emails and documented evidence supplied to the ombudsman, and can give that to Trading standards if they ever request it, but as of 3 months now, they haven't been in touch at all. You bought this car at the start of 2023 and left the review on 15th June of 2024. We have all been through a lot on this particular car, and as stated, you are not even the customer, the customer himself has not responded or agreed to partake in the complaint so we couldn't take this any further for you. The customer is the person who is listed on the invoice/bill of sale.

Top class

I recently visited MotoServ for the first time as my land rover had a DPF fault. I must say reading the reviews I wasn’t sure at first but hand on heart I am really pleased with the job they have done. Although I initially received a bill shock I soon discovered they are absolutely worth every penny—no botch jobs here, just top-quality work. A special shout-out to their customer service advisor, Hamza, who truly went above and beyond. Understanding my urgent need, catered a plan of repair and he ensured my car was delivered to my home just in time for me to pick up my parents from the airport. This level of dedication and professionalism is rare to find. Highly recommended!

Car went in for an mot. Quote was around £1000. The lad who did mot only advised having some work done but the sales guys more or less said unless I had the work done then car would fail MOT. This is only my cars 2nd MOT with 20,000 on the clock. I don't do many miles per year. Definitely won't use again and would not recommend

Hi Tracey. Sorry to read and hear about this experience. Just to note, our MOT Testers don't carry out pre-test checks and advise on works before an MOT. They work independently in the workshop and have their own facilities. The VHC you are describing is a 'service vehicle health check'. The software we use, which thousands of garages use across the UK, highlight particular items for periodic change, so there would have been: Brake fluid, Carbon Clean, Motor-Club plan, Alignment, Aircon regas listed as items with prices to get done if you wish. The service advisories on your Car are items needed before your next scheduled service. I.e. your service interval on the car may be 12k - 20k miles time, so the service techs base their VHC's on the service requirements on your Car. The MOT check in itself, is a snapshot of now, and passes or fails dependent on if the car is roadworth and legal now or not. So service advisories won't necessarily be MOT fails, so you should have been explained this better on the telephone. If you want this looking into further, we would be glad to pull up your car video from archive, and run through this with you and make anything clear and look to help with any inconvenience and stress caused with all of this. Our site has an 80% + first time MOT pass rate, and we are the busiest independent centre in Solihull for MOTs, so our testers (4 full time on site right now) are very experienced and follow DVSA regulations to the T. Glad you got the MOT sorted out, and if you were charged anything by our team for works you don't feel happy about, let us know at: solihull@motorservuk.com with the details referencing this review, and we will look to assist on it.

Avoid this place like the plague!

A back street garage will always be a back street garage no matter the fancy advertisements and false promises! I would like to award them negative stars if it were possible.

Never again shall I trust MotorServ UK again with another vehicle ever. This my first and last visit. It was a complete con and a waste of £1,000. The car was returned with more problems than it had before it was intrusted to MotorServ UK not to mention dirty. I wish I read some reviews before taking my vehicle to these unprofessional con artists. Reading other reviews, I’m not the first or the last to be ripped off by MotorServ UK. Photo evidence is available the on Google review.

The vehicle which is to be used as a pool car for a children’s care home was to get a complete service and fluids change along with the air conditioning repair as it was not working. MortorServ UK came up with a very long list of things they said was wrong with the car and their respective fixes and exorbitant costs to get them all repaired. I agreed to get all of them repaired apart from the turbo and catalytic converter replacement which was unnecessary and another con to get you to pay even more for items that do not need replacing.

The vehicle was fully valeted by SF Valeting on Longmore Road before it was picked up my Motorserv UK. They had the vehicle for nearly two weeks stating incomplete parts arrived for the air conditioning repair etc. After this prolonged period, they stated that the air conditioning now also needed a new compressor at a cost of £895. At this point I was unhappy with their excuses and misdiagnosis and wanted to have the vehicle returned. Their workshop controller Steve talks to you with the idea that everyone must so gullible and know nothing about cars! Unfortunately for Steve I am also an RITIB qualified grade 1 mechanic. I now work on other larger projects, so do not repair my own vehicles as not having a ramp in my garage.
The car will now need to be repaired by someone who knows what they are doing. I asked MotorServ UK to remove their air conditioning refrigerant (not the coolant which is what their mechanic in their video called it! Proper mechanics know coolant goes in the cooling system and refrigerant circulates in the air conditioning system.) I was told this was impossible and they could not refund me for the gas. Anyone with any knowledge of air conditioning systems knows this is complete nonsense. So, I have been charged for aircon re-gassing and repairs for an air conditioning system that still does not work and will need to be repaired by a competent engineer. John at Auto AirCon in Redditch will fix it properly.

Having asked for my vehicle to be retuned it took Steve well over 24 hours to get the vehicle back to me late wasting my day waiting for them to return my car. It was returned covered in oily handprints and dirt inside the cabin which wasn’t present when they picked it up having been fully valeted. The driver’s answer was its nothing to do with me, I’m just a driver! No ownership or customer service whatsoever. His co driver a young lad was rude and just drove off when I tried to point out my unhappiness at the state of the vehicles return. So much for the fancy false advertising of a complementary was and vacuum! Don’t believe the hype!

To add to my misery, the vehicle now has a noise coming from under the bonnet when you accelerate or decelerate that was not present before MotorServ UK worked on the car. The automatic gearbox issue is still present with no change whatsoever. The service book was not stamped. The vehicle service due light came on within days! The coolant which was supposed to have been flushed is full of rust in the expansion tank! A flush is supposed to flush out the coolant system of particulates, otherwise what is the point of paying for a flush?

I have very little confidence that the automatic gearbox fluid and filter have been changed which was MotorServ UK’s fix for the issue which is still present. I hope they have actually changed the brake fluid as per their invoice and charges of £1,000 for what now looks like a mere oil, spark plug and filter service.

I have learnt my lesson to never trust MotorServ UK and anything they say. Con artists will always be con artists. They have no concept of customer service or take any ownership for their mistakes and lack of delivery they promise in their adverts.

Take you vehicles to MotorServ UK at your own peril. I will never make that mistake again and will warn everyone else I know to do the same. Avoid like the plague!

Hi Sid. Sorry we haven't been able to resolve this for you and you have felt the need to be so angry and even bordeline aggressive with the staff trying to help. You have bought a well worn and used Zafira to use for kids at your nursing home. The Air con didn't work, and you should know as a former technician that there are two parts to the aircon unit, so we replaced the part that was most common and visibly not working first, and then needed to retest, and it became apparent more works were required. Yes you are right, air con gas can be removed, however it didn't seem that Steve was in the right frame of mind after having you shout down the phone at him when he was trying to resolve the issues for you. He stated - the car will be dropped off tmrw morning at some point once the drivers are back from their morning collections, so not sure why this was understood to be first thing and you made plans off the back of that, but sorry if that was the case. When you rang and were shouting at the staff again, they dropped everything and returned the car to you immediately, so the wash and vac wasn't done properly = your car had some prints and marks on it. However also to note, you also left a 1* review for the longmore valet centre saying how bad a job they did on the car, so was it really that clean and perfect to start with? Anyway, thanks for the review, there is a lot of feedback we can provide to the team in this instance, for the process and work they undertook. The service book has now been stamped and wasn't done in the rush to get the car back to you, so apologies for that, and the noise under the bonnet when driving, you didn't bring it back to us, so we couldn't check/rectify anything done wrong during the service. For the automatic gearbox, we changed the servicable items within the gearbox, i.e. the filter and the oil, what would you expect us to do? This was quoted and explained to you, and you authorised it to be done. If this hasn't ressolved the noise/working of the gearbox, you need to get it booked in with a transmission specialist - Drivers in Moseley are specialists at these, and they will beable to fix that for you permanently no doubt. The whole of the trade use them, as they are the best specialists around, and gearbox work on a routine service/maintenance visit isn't really undertaken and can cost 000's at a specialist to undertake.

Avoid this place

Avoid this place! Took my car in for an mot last week. I was told I needed £1400 worth of work done before my car would pass its MOT. I was absolutely distraught! After speaking with a few people I was told to go and get a second opinion. After getting a second opinion, the new mechanic told me that it was completely wrong! Yes my car needed some work but not half of much as what was I was told by Motorserv! Think this place is an absolute con, they lure you in with the £15 MOT and then try and sting you with a load of unnecessary work!!! Will never ever be taking my car back to this garage again!

Hi Jemma. We have sent you two emails after fully investigating this for you, and have tried to call you. You haven't replied or been available. Please do give us a call on 0121 733 3387 and we will be happy to assist further and try and ressolve this for you. We can see you went for an MOT at another centre straight after ours, and you got very similar fails, and have then done the works and got the car passed through. Glad you did do that and got the car right, but the 'seeping' shocks on the car, are pronounced leaks as they have been advised for the past few years on your MOT history, and we have the video vhc showing the leaks. The EML was on as well, which we quoted to remedy. A lot of advised items goes onto the video's based on car age and mileage by default, none of that is mandatory, so we think you took the £1,400 quite literally, and didn't get explained the video and the report fully. Happy to help on anything else you need, but feel the review here is a bit unfair and misleading. We have an over 80% first time pass rate on MOTs here on site, and have no targets or quota's for the guys to hit on fails, and other items. Be happy to discuss fully and put your mind at ease as far as possible, and can help you with the shocks if still needed? Look forward to hearing from you.

Not recommended absolutely disgusting

Hi all, I want to share my experience with this garage.
I had a previous post but because I use sensitive information my post was deleted.
So I order some parts with this garage last year in June 2023 (shock absorber all 4) for my Mercedes Cls plus labour i have ask for genuine parts so they said to me, they will order genuine parts from Mercedes.
All good I paid with instalments payments so they received the full amount of £1700 so they call me saying my credit has been approved now they have to order the parts.
The parts have arrived couple of days later they call me to book an appointment but with 2 days before the appointment i had a traffic collision, I called them if it’s possible to return the parts first time they said yes but the next day they told me the parts cannot be return as they are special parts and Mercedes they don’t accept return on these parts.
They communicate to me the parts or total amount will be held on their system so if i have another car they will fixed for free because i have a credit left in their system.
After 6 months my car was ready so i start rang the garage.
At some point the customer service were so annoyed because I call them twice a day/ dropped them email , I have to go my self From Birmingham to Solihull and his explanation was ‘I am not the single client’
My first booking was on 18.12.2023 like I said in the previous post at 08.00.
Nobody show up until 09.15 so i stay outside just me and the chauffeur from the garage (picking up car from the clients and drop their car) and the queue start to build up.
When the first employee arrive at 09.15 I go inside but he told me to wait outside because he got customers , I have replied I am also a customer and i have arrived first so deal with me first , he insisted to go outside and he will give me a shout when to come inside.
He apologised and he said that the car will not gone be fixed today because a lot off staff was ill , and I have decided to stay inside the reception to see if any other customers are refused, surprised I was the only one!
I wrote an email to the branch manager is the same day he didn’t bother to reply to my email . I wrote in the email my concerns and I have a bad feeling about this.
He confirmed my next appointment on the 21.12.2023, I come on the 20.12.2023 in the afternoon before the closing time I asked him very polite to show me the shock absorber before they will fitting on my car , after many requests he decided to show me the parts and when I saw them I was shocked, they were the cheapest shock absorber because I goggled it ,brand KYB £85 each.
I asked the guy from the office if these are my parts and also if these will be fitted on my car he replied Yes Definitely , we have some argue and he shout for a mechanic and also the mechanic tried to convince me these are genuine parts and Mercedes are not building parts which i know i think everyone knows. I took also a picture of them so I have a proof.
But I will not forget their faces when they tried to convince me that those parts are genuine!!!
In the same night i raised a complaint to small claim court!
It’s been settled but not on my terms because I have planned my holiday for this summer from last year I was afraid of loosing my vacation when I have the hearings!!
The manager said all the time these parts had been order by confusion.
Not recommended at all, all the dealers now accept instalments payments with bumper I didn’t know until now yeah I know the dealers are expensive but I’d rather go to the dealer than go through something like this again

Hi Bratu. This was a very unusual situation and has been extensively discussed, and has now been resolved with you in full. You ordered mercedes parts to be done on your car, and took out finance over 12 months. You then requested a refund, which was highly irregular. However the service advisor attempted to get these refunded and was told no by Mercedes Solihull. The copy of this invoice has been provided for you on request, which you then said was false as they wouldn't provide this to you? why would they provide another customers invoice to a 3rd party? It's GDPR and Data protection.

When you rebooked 6 months later, the chap who had dealt with it was on holiday. As it was December just before Christmas. We had an outbreak of sickness between the staff and the morning you arrived, the service consultant was alone and he said i am just with a customer, he opened the door to you and asked you to wait in the waiting room. He then got on to you next, but you were already annoyed. He then honestly told you that he had that many staff off that morning, that he would struggle to get the works complete and if you needed the car back that day, it may be best to reschedule. You agreed and did this. Then on your return back, again choosing to come yourself and wait and not get the car picked/dropped or to book a courtesy car etc (as you were free that day), you then enquired about the parts. This was 6 months after the parts had been ordered from Mercedes and Hamza was unaware and on rebooking you had not mentioned about the parts and nor was the service consultant there to discuss this and confirm. So Hamza ordered in OE items which are what customers with older cars usually prefer due to the cost. You then enquired, he apologised and said do you want the right parts ordered which may be overnight (as the couldn't find the original parts from 6 months prior on the spot), and you said no, and went absolutely beserk at him, and left the premises in anger. The situation could have been rectified quite easily, but you chose to storm off and then proceeded to put in a claim the very same afternoon! No written complaint, no demand for refund, but you went to the extreme immediately. Hamza didn't try and convince you that they were Mercedes parts (as the brand and box are different and he was not trying to convince you otherwise) he was saying they are OE which means Original Equipment and are the SAME spec but less money. You misunderstood but stormed off before you could be explained this to properly. Once it went to claim, this has been ressolved and has been agreed and repaid, however you refused to remove this review. We wish you the best, but suggest you actually try and understand what people are saying before losing your temper with them and try and be a bit cooler in a public environment with people and staff around, they are not there to be shouted at and abused, and they have hundreds of cars to work on every month, and would have dealt with upwards of 2,000 clients between June and December last year, and a hell of a lot of parts. Unfortunately things did not work out but we are pleased at least you have got the money back and all is now well. There is a suspicion this was being done all in order to get the actual cash from the 'finance company' and even at the end were you looking to find any reason not to get the work done and to push for a refund. The speed at which is escalated and the way in which you proceeded straight to a claim, seems to point to this being the case, as the need or reason for 4 shock absorbers being needed on a mercedes all at the same time without reason, and the fact the car has just been involved in an 'accident' and still needs 4 shocks, was very unusual to say the least. However we are here to serve and do whatever works any customer requires of us.

Yet another horrible experience booked in for a valet and fluid top up. Went in to collect my car where Alex told me to be seated and wanted too have a chat on behalf of his manger too why I wrote a bad review and asked if there was anything I could do to take it down. I don’t know why the manager was too afraid to come and ask himself as there was no other customers at the time. When I received my keys and returned too my car only the floor was cleaned dashboard and centre console was still unclean, boot was never cleaned and rubbish was left in my car. Whats the point of advertising it as an express valet and only do half a job. Honestly terrible service.

Motorserv do not buy from there

Brought the car 1st June, 1 week later had to take it back for tyre sensor light and clutch sticking, they told me sensors were fixed and the clutch was sticking to the carpet, on the way home after them having it for a week, sensor light back on, clutch still sticking, took it back August and also to tell them it was loosing power and mis firing only to be told that yes it miss fires because it shouldn't be drove over 60mph, said they fixed sensors which they did an bled rhw clutch, relieved it back after 2 weeks this time only to be travelling back from work on 31st October for it to completely break down, timing belt had gone, still not had my car back, customer service is terrible and can never get to speak to a manager, no compensation or courtesy car as I've been with out it for two months, I tried to reject the vehicle bit the dodgy finance company back the dealer and tell me its wear and tear, JOKERS 🃏
So recieved car back 28th, they dropped it off, only to find that it's still not repaired, it is now blowing from the engine, contacted them straight away, phone call and email and they have just ignored the problem, and not contacted us at all, the finance company want us to pay for a vat registered garage to diagnose what is wrong, this has caused me so much stress mentally and financially, I just don't know where to turn !!!

Hi Kelly. Sorry you have had so many issues with your Ford Focus. Clutch wasn't sticking and we couldn't replicate the issue, and it was bled to give you assurance, and it was all working fine, and you haven't returned with that issue and even now it's still fine. TPMS sensors are consumable parts, and the low profile tyres and alloys are known to have these faults and for the lights to come on. We have replaced them and reset them for you, and again these went off and you took the car away and have had it for a further few months. Your recent breakdown has been caused by teeth on your drive belt wearing away - Ford reccomend in some instances when this happens, it requires a new belt, and head checked, which we have done, and the car has been ready to pickup and take away for nearly 4 weeks now. You have refused. The finance company have been over all the technical data and have said we have done everything we have needed to and gone above and beyond in the repairs, to ensure you are happy. Unfortunately you wont' come and pick the car up. Simon our workshop controller has spoken to you before and can speak to you again if needed? Ahsan our sales manager has also spoken to you, but the conversation just goes in circles. You will need to come and pick up the Car, and we have already referred this car and case for an independent inspection and have passed it to our legal team. Bit spiteful for you to leave a review like this after such a long time, and after we have done so much work to get the car back running and perfect for you. We wont' comment further and you will be receiving a letter with the final outcome in the coming week or so. You can take this to the ombudsman for final review, or you can come and get the Car at any time. Courtesy cars are available for service booked jobs, for routine servicing and are pre-booked, we don't have spare cars for prolonged periods available and sitting there in these instances, just like most garages and dealers don't. We have discussed the case with Ford also who have stated the belt is a serviceable item and can require changing on these models at the mileage your car has now done. Even brand new cars under warranty get recalls and issues to deal with and can be off the road for weeks and months, unfortunately cars are not perfect, but we have tried to appease and rectify the situation, but have now had no response and you are refusing to pickup the car. The finance company is a large national lender, with a department that specialise in these cases and they would be the first to demand a return/refund if the matter required it. They also follow the law and regulations, and they have been satisfied with the data provided and the outcome reached. They have now disengaged, and you will be liable for the payments whether or not you pick up the car, however storage and upkeep costs could now be levied if the car is not picked up soon.
