Staff were fantastic - rooms are lovely, and the views are outstanding. Overall, everything was lovely for a group and couples' stay.

The property is beautiful - location, rooms, amenities are all five star.
The staff are warm, friendly and do everything humanly possible to make your stay a great one. Pampered from the minute you walk in until you leave.
The food is amazing - meals are varied and delicious.
Visitors should stay longer than just gorilla tracking as there is lots to see/do in the community, including the new community centre and its inaugural sewing classes! And you then have time to enjoy your beautiful room with a fire and the offerings at the spa.

Such a beautiful place, with the most spectacular view to the volcanoes and the wonderful nature. Excellent food, fresh and nicely made.

This lodge is such a special place! The views, service, and accommodations are incredible. Friday helped us out during our stay and he was incredible!!! We also did several tours with Moses who was super passionate and knowledgeable.

Our experience at Mountaingorillalodge was magical. The lodge offers breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and a deep connection to nature. Our room was beautifully designed with forest views that felt like something out of a dream. The staff were incredible — kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the entire stay was seamless from start to finish, including our unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Highly recommended — we can’t wait to return!

The location of the lodge as well as the service is extraordinary. On the first day we wanted to do a little walk through the Community. We were accompanied by one of the employees and had a wonderful experience. The fireplace was lit in our room for the evenings, breakfast on the main veranda with a magnificant view and our hiking boots were cleaned after the gorilla trekking. The trekking in the Nkuringo sector starts a few minutes from the lodge. This was a lovely experience with the Christmas group. Thanks to everybody st the lodge who made this possible. We are so thankful for this unbelievable Adventure.

every aspect of the experience was perfect. The staff went over and beyond each and every day and in particular when I did not feel well they also made our anniversary celebration over the top. It was warm. It was welcoming. It was impactful. I cannot say enough positive comments about this

It’s a magical place! We had the best of times from out honeymoon there! The rooms and common areas are so beautiful, the staff is just 10/10 - so kind, so attentive to detail and they truly make you feel as if you were part of a big family. The food is amazing, so fresh and good!
The spa is so worthwhile!

Our Stay – August 2025

We spent an incredible 3 nights and 4 days here, and from start to finish the experience was flawless.

Transport & Driver
Our journey began with a car pick-up from Kigali, organised seamlessly by the team. We were fortunate to have Gilbert as our driver for the entire trip. He was informative, full of positive energy, and a joy to be around. By the end of our stay, we genuinely considered him a friend.

Hospitality & Trek Support
At the lodge, Friday ensured we were looked after throughout. From coordinating wake-up calls and early breakfasts to preparing packed lunches for our two gorilla treks, nothing was ever missed. He even surprised us with personalised walking sticks and keyrings, which made the experience even more special.

Lodge Team & Comfort
The wider team were equally fantastic—cleaning muddy boots and gaiters after hikes, preparing log fires, and placing hot water bottles in our beds each evening. Their attention to detail made every return from the forest warm and welcoming. Thank you to Diana who looked after us.

Food & Dining
The food was outstanding—fresh, flavourful, and consistently exceptional. A highlight recommendation: let Friday choose your meals. Every dish he picked was delicious.

Cultural Experience
We were able to visit the Batwa community and learn about their history and way of life. It truly was an amazing opportunity to learn about this group. We were also able to visit the local town and purchase a bag of 50 lollipops ($3) for the children of the town. It was a truly humbling and human experience.

Special Experience
Knowing I was a football fan, Friday and Gilbert organised a sundowner on a hill overlooking Bwindi. At the top, an incredible village football pitch awaited. With their help, we joined the locals for a sunset match—a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Final Thoughts
If you are planning a gorilla trekking experience, I cannot recommend this lodge highly enough. From the treks to the hospitality, every detail was extraordinary.

Beautiful place, caring and friendly staff

This was a five star experience from the moment we were greeted by the manager of the hotel and while we checked in we received hand massages until we departed with a warm send off to our next destination. The staff was attentive, helpful and more than willing to accommodate our requests! After a long day out in the forest it was wonderful to cozy up in our room with the fireplace and warm water bottles in our beds. We could not have imagined a better place to rest our heads at the end of the day!

The entire staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the accommodations were very nice and comfortable.

Without question one of the best resorts I've ever stayed at -- thanks to the impeccable service by the very attentive staff. The resort is gorgeous -- in the mountains with a stunning view. Rooms (individual buildings) are spacious and clean work lots of attention to detail. Fireplaces, huge bathroom, lovely amenities.
