OFGEM IS A DISGRACE

I can now see why Energy companies are not worried about people going to ofgem with their complaints, as I have contacted them myself and basically they told me there’s nothing I can do? Well actually there is, I have written about the company OVO and the one thing I can do is go on all of my social media platforms and warn other people about them, which I am now doing and strangely enough I’ve had some very interesting feedback from other people regarding OVO AND Ofgem. Very clearly these two groups are in each other’s pockets. and once again we see corruption that is so prevalent in other business interests in the United Kingdom. As another reviewer on here said in his post Ofgem are very clearly a total joke and both of these groups should be very careful on how they proceed, because from the feedback getting from other social media users about them and the total outrage about the profits they are making and the total disregard for customers, it’s very clear that the public are getting fed up and sick and tired of this constant profiteering from those who are struggling to pay bills. OFGEM, you should be ashamed of yourselves and the way you try to represent yourselves in the media to the public.

What is the point of this quango

What is the point of this quango? Deliberately increased standing charges and made the most bureaucratic rules regarding insulation and cavities. I am embarrassed for them they are so appalling. Whole organisation is clearly favouring big business and to h*ll with the public. SHUT THEM DOWN!

John my case handler has been amazing

John my case handler has been amazing. I've had a ongoing complaint since Feb with octopus energy and ots been hell! John stepped in and identified discrepancies and educated me on energy billing and made the decision thst the energy company where yo whip off over £1000 of charges and a gesture of goodwill of £200! Honestly I wasn't getting anywhere with octopus never called me took forever to respond false promises but John sorted it and I'm so grateful 🥰 we need ombudsmen within utility company's to be that voice of the consumer and be able to identify mistakes that people who don't work in those area would know about. Thank you John x

Copy of utilita fraudulent billing review

Please investigate issues raised in utilita review below

Fraudulent back billing for gas already prepaid

21/06/2024

This company Utilita have been fraudulent back billing me for gas already paid for on their prepayment meter via their app from February 2019 to August 2019 my gas receipts for this period totalimg £225 on February 06 2024 utilita sent me a bill for £711 for this time please note you cannot run up this on a prepayment meter

Utilita have not only attempted to bill me for gas already paid they appear to have done so at todays prices

Utilita have also illegally back billed me from October 2021 to October 2022 a time period that was already dealt with by the Energy Ombudsman Service

I have received an apology from utilta for the back billing however they have attempted to hide the fraudulent billing within the illegal back billing issue which is a separate issue.

The write off value for the fraudulent and illegal back billing is £1419.44. That agreement is now showing as being in credit,

I am due to speak to the Energy Ombudsman on Monday 24/06/2014 about these issues and will also be speaking to Ofgem with regards to utilitas back billing which goes against industry rules on back billing

Ofgem have the power to revoke license if they are found to have been issuing fraudulent bills and not a fit and proper company to be suppling these utilities

I have since changed my electricity to Octopus and my monthly charge has been reduced from £120 to £68 per month

At time of writing utilita still have a hold on my gas making it impossible to change despite the write off and their statement that I am in credit

Review Update 24/06/2024

I received a phone call from utilta morning 24 june 2024 at 10.29am that confirmed that they have written off the sum of £1419.44 they apologised for the back billing and assured me that I could now switch to Octopus

I was asked for a meter reading and if I would remove their agents surname l was happy to do this having been assured that I could now switch

At 12pm I called Octopus to switch and was blocked by utilita again claiming I still in debt this in spite of their agents email and phone call stating that I was in credit

I called utilitas credit control who then claimed I owe them £419 for gas I asked to be put through to switching and was transferred to a line that was no longer in use

I called back to try again this time I was transferred to south Africa who can't deal with this

The credit utilitas agent referred to was for Gas however utilita have not told me how much it was and have applied it to my Electricity and not my Gas

They have claimed they can't work it out for 4 or 5 weeks this is absolute nonsense as I have no debt for Electricity having had a prepayment meter until 31st January 2024

Since the 31st I have paid £121 at local post office mid February 2024 followed by £120 by DD on the first of the month starting 1st March never missing any of these advance payments for Electricity kept my account up to date and in credit

This review will also be posted on goolgle and will remain unchanged until utilita allow me to switch to my chosen supplier

Utilita have objected to this review on the grounds that it contained personal information of their agents I have removed their names as they requested

Update 25/06/2024

I have my bills from 31st January to 31st March 2024 that have been paid one at local PO the others by DD as listed above I can't possibly be in any debt for Electricity as you claimed when you called have your billing call me any time

This companies billing is chaotic and are still demanding payment this time for electricity that switched to Octopus thankfully i have my receipts and their fraudulent bills

Bills that show my electricity consumption has never changed

I also received rebates on my electricity March 2024 in the form of two paypoint vouchers the first for £47 the second was under £20 you don't issue rebates to customers who are in debt

As soon as this election is over I will be in touch with my MP and I will be demanding that this companies license is revoked on the grounds that their billing is chaotic and they are not a fit and proper company to supply these utilities

Update 26/06/2024

Spoke to utilitas billing agent this morning who confirmed that I have no debt on my electricity and she would send an email to confirm this when I made the call I advised her that I was recording her call as I am required to do my law

If their email doesn't come I have usable evidence that I owe this nightmare company nothing

Update 28th June 2024

Never received any email as promised by utilita

Received a call from CAB confirming that utilita owe me £123 over payment for gas and that they have removed their objections to my switch to Octopus

I have now switched and would advise anyone who can to leave this NIGHTMARE COMPANY NOW

Hi I am just reading the reviews from…

Hi I am just reading the reviews from other people. I agree what everyone say about ofgem. They are just a waste of space. On July next price cap stands changes are still £0.60 pence per day. They are just like Bank of England they cost the problems ofgem not looking at the finance of the company’s that went bust and the Bank of England printed to much money. Now he should lose his job for what he done and the Tory’s destroyed the economy and it has been put on the people of uk to bail them out. What a laugh.you can’t not use gas of electric has you have to still pay £300 per year as they don’t want to loss any money.the British people should all stand together and fight. But unfortunate they won’t. Agnes

Are you tired of having extra cash lying around? Do you find yourself yearning for a more exciting utility bill every month? Look no further, because Ofgem is here to make all your dreams come true! With their unparalleled commitment to ensuring energy providers thrive at the expense of consumers, Ofgem is the gift that keeps on giving... to corporations, that is.

Imagine a world where your energy bill is a rollercoaster ride of surprises, where every month is a thrilling adventure into the unknown depths of your bank account. Thanks to Ofgem's ingenious policies, you'll never have to worry about pesky predictability again! Who needs financial stability when you can have the exhilarating uncertainty of arbitrary charges and skyrocketing standing fees?

But wait, there's more! Ofgem's dedication to keeping energy prices competitive means you'll always have something to complain about. Gone are the days of boring, reasonable rates. Say hello to the thrill of watching your hard-earned money vanish into the ether, all while energy providers line their pockets with the spoils of your suffering.

And let's not forget about their incredible customer service—or lack thereof! With Ofgem at the helm, you can rest assured that your concerns will be promptly ignored, your complaints swept under the rug, and your pleas for fairness met with a hearty laugh from the ivory towers of corporate greed.

But hey, who needs consumer rights when you've got Ofgem? With their unwavering support for energy providers and blatant disregard for the plight of everyday customers, Ofgem is truly the unsung hero of the energy market. So here's to you, Ofgem—thanks for keeping the lights on for everyone except the people actually paying the bills!

To understand how rotten this govern-mental- organisation is just read their public information which is available on their website:

"Ofgem also confirmed plans to maintain the equalisation of standing charges across payment methods so that customers are not charged more depending on the payment method they use. Since October 2022 the so-called ‘PPM premium’ was removed by government support via the Energy Price Guarantee. However, with that support coming to an end on April 1, Ofgem has taken steps to provide a lasting solution, which must be funded by bill payers rather than tax payers, to maintain fairness in the system.

This means PPM (Prepayment Meter) customers will save around £49 per year while direct debit customers will pay £10 per year more. "

The whole industry needs a complete overhaul. These lot probably have shares in British Gas and the others which is why they allowed them to make multibillion pound profits. Absolutely disgusting. You don’t represent the people. Gas has gone down since 2022 and our bills are up because you didn’t do your job regulating the suppliers in the first place.

The fact that no one is talking about it makes me certain that there is a cartel made up of the government, media and regulator who are making vast amounts of money from the public.

Another Royal Mail scandal unfolding before our eyes…

We seriously as a country need to pull…

We seriously as a country need to pull our fingers out and stop this corruption of government and businesses. Ofgem are paid highly by other corrupt companies (energy firms, political parties and so forth). Why do we simply sit back and allow these rich peers to get richer when the poor get so poor they can't even afford to warm their house. We've got pensioners who fought for our rights yet as soon as we say something, the government pass a new legislation to stop us speaking out. We can't get into groups to protest because yet again the corruption stops us doing that.
Get this lousy Tory and labour system out and bring in public rule. Let us decide what we want for once and not those who have so much money it can't be spent.

Waste of space. Get rid.

I do not see what they do to protect the public from exorbitant utility charges? Surely they can set low energy caps if they see utility companies making excessive profits? Get rid of them and save the country a fortune in Ofgem wages!

Not a single positive review on here of…

Not a single positive review on here of Ofgem, at least their workload will be light because people don’t bother to use them anymore because they know that they are spineless. I was about to and then changed my mind. Energy companies charging us extra cost because of the price of energy, yet I’m trying to be green and have solar panels, but the energy company do not increase the feed in tariff or the production Reward for me doing this. The regulator is obviously spineless.

A regulator with a brief to protect consumers yet turns a blind eye to industry malpractice

Human beings have a great capacity for wrongdoing. It’s an attribute that is unique in the world of life. We can and do make things worse, voluntarily, with full knowledge of what we are doing (as well as accidentally, and carelessly, and in a manner that is wilfully blind). – Jordan B. Peterson 2018

When the UK’s energy regulator outsources the work to investigate issues when energy company’s fail consumers, this results in OFGEM being able to wash its hands of any responsibility to make changes to create business best practices a reality. Why does this happen? Because the contract between the two business will always have limitations of the service to be provided. If this was an in-house service things can be more fluid/transparent and changes can be made quickly & efficiently.

As OFGEM only has reports in a statistical format, it’s very easy to hide the severity of complaints raised with the Ombudsman Service – Energy, this then hides what has become the norm within the UK energy market.

There is no way to escalate a complaint to OFGEM directly as they refuse to engage with consumers and as such are willing to turn a blind eye to some of the worst cases of the energy industry clearly abusing the faulty system the regulator has put in place.

When people keep perpetuating the lie there is nothing wrong, then change to improve the service will never happen. As such OFGEM are failing the population by protecting the energy companies and means it fails to follow the remit behind their existence.
